Vintage Speedway World Champions Nostalgia Night

it seems the 'powers that be' weren't even interested in a 75th anniversary meeting, let alone an evening of nostalgia. if things were left to 'the powers that be' there would probably be no speedway full stop

The problem then is that you might then not get all the riders you want

Vintage Speedway World Champions Nostalgia Night

Fine, but does that mean you have to announce it to everyone?

    Kenny Carter

There were a few unsavoury comments about Kenny as well as some very positive ones... mostly positive thankfully. If he had been alive he would have been included in the World Champions Nostalgia Night on merit I am sure

if it's gonna help put bums on seats... especially at £25 per ticket maybe i'll just have to check with you before posting on the forum

Not quite, but when someone I know is asked to give up their room so Jerzy Szczakiel can have it sort of gives the game away don't you think

Szczakiel I think is going to the VSRA meal the night before so I expect he will be at the nostalgia night with all the others

    Old copies of speedway publications

I have 4 proper scrap books here which include all sorts of programs too. 2 of them are from 1946 and 2 from 1947. Would these be worth anything to an enthusiast? They both include cuttings from the speedway publications of the time plus a lot of original photos. Programs include things like, Wembley v Harringay 1947 etc, and also some Speedway News magazines from 1948. Later on I have Speedway Star & News mags from 1970 - 1974

    End of season fun

What year was that Shazz as I can remember either it happening or someone telling me about it? S'pose it was probably you telling me at end of season whilst threatening you with a handful of something

    Johnnie S Hoskins

Yeah it's true...it's all my fault. I have led Shazzy astray since joining the forum. If it was possibly a speedway rider's middle name it could be nearer the subject, but a footballer that retired 25 years ago is pushing it. Johnnie H was a top fella at Canterbury. As stated in the previous forum he was prone to 'bending' the truth. Was pouring with rain in Canterbury so I went accross the road to Sainsbury to phone the track and ask if the meeting was on. Johnnie answered and said they hadn't had a drop all day!!! I was accross the road...it was pouring down!!! Top fella

    SPEEDWAY MAIL.

we won't go into that Shazz.... sure he doesn't fancy ending up in court

Yeah Lioness... I'm gonna stay up all night now. How do you think I'm gonna sleep not knowing Bob Wilson's middle name?

    SPEEDWAY MAIL.

Nobody seems to have mentioned 'five-one' magazine. It was a monthly mag a few years ago, that wasn't too bad.

    Canterbury Crusaders

Oh sorry, didn't I mention... I won't be able to make it to Iwade.

    Canterbury Crusaders

hmmm...don't think I should be included in this as I don't drink tea or coffee, but give me the money and I will happily go for you
  18. stevehone

How do you spell Knutson in as in Bjorn. Correctly?

Nice one Jim Look forward to meeting you at the VSRA meal. Lets see if you and Shazz can keep the peace for an evening Shazz is a nice girl really.... a bit 'flaky' sometimes but a nice girl. I really enjoy the Coventry meal as all my old heroes start staggering around drunk. Look out for the Scottish contingent too... very funny
  19. He didn't just stop there either... Ivan had door handles from the Royal relaxing room, toilet roll holders from royal toilets, all sorts of bits, and was going back to get the slabs of concrete he always put his bike on for a Wembley world final. He parked his bike on a bit of a slope and had a special 'lopsided' bike stand made. After visiting Wembley he decided to keep all the bits in my dad's garage until he shipped them home. I just thought what a load of junk!!!

I take it all back. I apologize for everything
  23. I thought that big demolishing machine started on the top of the towers the other day? What bit are they saving?
  24. stevehone

    Canterbury Crusaders

Mike Spink was there 85, 86 and 87. Good captain and a really nice bloke. Saw him at Peterborough a few times last couple of seasons as he was helping Sam Tesar in the pits.
