    Birmingham 2014

Regarding speedway information is the "Birmingham Mail" a permanent replacement for the locked-out "Brummies" Web Site?

    Uncle Len's Bold Move

Beer talking time xxx - I went to Sunderland v Bradford in 197X, I was spannering for Tony Freegard, we borowed a sprocket off Jim Ryman (sp) {the Boston lad] who lived in Howard Cole's dad's workshop at Wolves] (Sunderland gear ratio was a bastard - the Aussies passed the sprockets around). Promoter was Len Silver (Nel Revlis) think a friend of his promoted Hackney on the same night!!! George & Terry Barclay shared a Ford Zodiac - no boot lid - bikes in the boot (memo no oil painted van or full time mechanics). Dave Baugh equalled Ivan Mauger's historic track recod in Ht: 1. Len Silver gave me 'Field Of Dreams' before baseball thought about it! Jurrasic Park was a best selling film. Dinosaurs are great - Let 2014 be the year of Dinosaurs.... Let's get back to basics.... The Gun Powder Plot was hatched at Rye.... Len - blow the bastards up at the AGM!!!

    Birmingham 2014

Any news on when the Brummies web site will reappear?
  4. Does anyone know if there will be a big Screen tonight and if so, Where? Thanks.
  5. Has 'Orion' conveniently forgotten Jimmy Nilsson who was fully committed to Swindon unless it was a Robin's meeting within a fortnight either side of a Grand Prix???

    Wolverhampton 2013

Good post Wolfie. And we were top of the table for most of the season But do remember we have Peterborough & Belle Vue away to look forward to - if they get round to arranging dates!

    Wolverhampton 2013

I'm glad that you can look forward TNT. Unfortunately the thread is 'Wolverhampton 2013'. I must presume you wern't at Birmingham or Coventry this week?. We are/were allegedly the 'top of the table' team! I'm getting very tired of seeing a patched up team with a permanent r/r, no Number 8 and a complete lack of fight, crawling it's way into the play-off's where we will be subjected to being turned over by Poole / Swindon / Birmingham in the semi and no doubt have to pay more entrance fees and programme charges for the privilege. If Parry International is paying out on success then DP must be quids in! The 'Affordable' Wolves are letting the fans down both on and off the track.

    Wolverhampton 2013

It can be done - King's Lynn named Lewis Kerr as a #8 when Wolves were ther on 12 June. Perhaps a second half is needed where the #8 could be guarranteed two rides - Oh that used to happen!!!

    Wolverhampton 2013

    1) Meetings drag out due to riders having two rides on the trot. Example Eastbourne v Wolves finished at 10:10pm. Interval taken at 9:20pm. 2) No number 8 named - risk of heats without four riders. 3) Lack of variety - limited 'new' riders 4) When both teams use r/r it's a joke that we are seeing even more. At NL level it's even more of a disappointment. This is a further dilution to the ridiculous half a 'B' fixture E-Lite League. How many Mondays have Wolves not ridden?

    Wolverhampton 2013

The facility for using R/R for Ty Proctor should have been withdrawn once Plymouth replaced him. That might have forced the Wolves management to do something!
  11. Both teams using r/r. Sad times indeed. I thought this was a Training League???
  12. In history I've always associated 'Pride Of The Midlands' as being an individual event staged at Monmore Green. Did Leicester have to get permission off CVS to use this title? Cheers Lefty
  13. Any chance of the Bees doing the same?

    Wolverhampton 2013

Is it time for a name change for 'brum' to 'steve-sandwell' then?

    Wolverhampton 2013

    Proctor's best away tracks are Coventry & P'boro which run on . . . . .Friday's - DOH!!!

    Wolverhampton 2013

Oh dear . . . If race-jackets are a no-no - then what do the three Premier League double up/down guests get to use? I hope we are not relying on random numbers on the side of the bike or the variance in the colour of the helmets? And the Wolves fans can look forward to another "Long Good Friday" shambles at Belle Vue.. . .still we can go home after Heat 10 now

    Buxton V Stoke

Both teams using r/r is a very sorry state of affairs. Similar to no number 8's being declared. Result: one car of Wolves fans that won't be there :-(

    American Touring Team October 2011

Wow - The Victorville meeting is just like the "Elite League" - Both teams using r/r and no number 8's! :-)

    Usa Touring Team 2011

Steve, Xmas crawl - best bit of news this week. Get Superguest to let me know the details! Will Santa or T.N.T. turn up? - Are they both real???? Lefty
  20. This should have been allocated to an Elite League circuit. Another poor decision. :-)
  21. Looks like you need to drop the 'L' out of this title - it's now an open meeting!
  22. This fixture does not appear on the Wolverhampton web-site.

    Ole, Ole. Ole

'Ole Ole Ole' was most definately the terrace chant in the early 70's (and P** P** P** also the Cradley reply!) This carried on for a few years until Mr. Olsen followed the money tree to Brandon. Although he did win a World Final in Wolves colours in 1975 - but the move to Coventry was sealed well beforehand and his subsequent loss of respect on the Monmore terraces confirmed. Another aspect of Wolves-Spoons rivalry was seeing the paint spray can displays of "OLE POWER" being converted to "COLE POWER". This was quite good humour and I'm sure Howard Cole must have enjoyed seeing the walls of Wolverhampton & Dudley sprayed with this. Lefty

    Ole Olsen

As a Wolves fan, I seem to recall Ole was 'parked' into the fence at Oxford in the early seventies incurring a shoulder injury. It might have been Ronnie Genz who was involved in the incident, but not sure. Either way Ole was never really known for outside overtaking after that. All the best, Lefty
