Team Gb V Team Australia Test Match - 1st August 2012.
petes replied to Bomo1's topic in International World of Speedway
I think Darcy had an issue with Barker almost fencing him and kept slowing hoping he was going to get a chance to return the favour, he would have been better off chasing afyer Kennett, he would probably have beat him. -

Middlo is not happy with Woffy. http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/speedway/piratesnews/9848012.Pirates__Middleditch_slams_Woffinden_over_no_show/ Have to say I am very dissapointed in him after this, He has always said how much he loves riding for his country. -
British Final At Wolverhampton, Mon 30th July 2012

Tai never lost his place, he has withdrawn through injury. He dislocated his shoulder at Poole last week and has told Middlo that he does not feel up to riding Wednesday. Whilst it would have been good to see him represent team GB, and I know it means a lot to him to do that, he needs to let his shoulder heal properly, this match whilst interesting is not an official fixture, just a challenge, so I think he is right to sit it out. -

Chris Holder has withdrawn, replaced by Tai Proctor. A very wise decision, hopefully Chris will at least take the whole week off (not sure what other fixtures he has scheduled). -

It would have been good to see them have a go, I also think that Robert Mear deserves a try, he seems a pretty determined young man to me. If only he was doubling up, I think that he would be way ahead of where he is now. -

I am currently working in Amsterdam, so can't get the sky sports feed on my laptop. Does anyone know if there is somewhere here that I can go to watch the playoff, or have any links I can use to watch it on the internet please?

National League - Remaining Key Fixtures
petes replied to lucifer sam's topic in National League Speedway
According to the Bournemouth Buccs website, the fours is not now going to happen, even though they originally had been told that it would be on 31 October. They are also trying to find out why there is no Bournemouth representative in the NLRC press announcement. -
I have only just seen this. Sverre was my idol when I was a kid, he was a class act, cruelly cut down by that serious injury, he would definately have become world champ otherwise. I remember the many fantastic battles between him and Briggo at Custom House, worth the entrance money on it's own (9d for me then!!). I also remember a story about Ove Fundin trying one of his bikes, must have been in 1966 or 67, he did a few laps then stopped, he said that it was too fast for him. He used to drive around in his souped up Triumph Spitfire I think it was, with the bike hanging off the back. We were going up the M1 on the West Ham Coach oncew we were doing about 70, he pulled up alongside us, gave us all a wave, then changed down a geer and zoomed off into the distance. What a great rider, I have just ordered my copy of the magazine, can't wait to read it.

Reading's Back Straight Stand
petes replied to Dave Stummings's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I spoke to Mike Golding a few weeks ago, he told me that permission had indeed been granted to remove the stand on the back straight and ope it all up. Dont know whether it has happened though. I amn planning on getting there very early to make sure that I can see the racing, being a shortie of 5'5"!!
