    League Table Changed

Re-check the NL league table http://www.british-speedway.co.uk/nltable10.html
  2. DUDLEY Heathens are gunning for second place in the National League table when they face Scunthorpe at Wolverhampton on Tuesday (7.30). Heathens, who are backed in massive numbers by fans from the old Cradley Heath era, are on a fine run of form and are back at Monmore after last week's win over the Isle of Wight. Richard Franklin returns from a throat injury to make his first full appearance at reserve for the former Dudley Wood side. Boss Will Pottinger said: "This is a big meeting for us and we need to win by more than six-points to claim all three league points and go second in the table which would be a great achievement. "We're all looking forward to this in a big way, the boys are buzzing with confidence and so are the fans." Heathens have already beaten the Saints this season to make progress in the Knockout Cup - and they're looking to complete the league double after winning in Lincolnshire earlier this season. DUDLEY: Lee Smart, Micky Dyer, Tom Perry, Jake Andersen, Jon Armstrong, Ashley Morris, Richard Franklin. SCUNTHORPE: Mark Burrows, Benji Compton R/R, Gary Beaton, Gary Irving, Scott Richardson, Steven Worrall, Ashley Birks.
  3. IN-FORM Dudley Heathens moved into the National League play-off zone with a thoroughly convincing win over the Isle of Wight at Perry Barr. Heathens were rampant from the word go as they hammered home 5-1s in the first two races, with James Sarjeant keen to impress on his return to the team as a guest. The Islanders' sole resistance came from an early race win by Danny Warwick and a good effort by Nick Simmons to win Heat 5 for double-points - but three 5-1s to the Heathens put them in total control and set for an emphatic win. Jon Armstrong was unbeaten from four rides whilst Tom Perry and Micky Dyer put in some superb overtaking moves to delight the large crowd - with the Islander's late response being a last-heat 5-1 to deny maximums for Dyer and skipper Lee Smart. DUDLEY: Lee Smart 12, Jon Armstrong 11+1, Micky Dyer 10+3, Tom Perry 9+1, James Sarjeant 7+2, Jake Anderson 6, Ashley Morris 5+2. ISLE OF WIGHT: Nick Simmons 12+1, Danny Warwick 10, Dean Felton 6+1, Brendan Johnson 2+1, Ben Hopwood 2, Tom Hill 1, Ricky Scarboro 0.
  4. HEATHENS hero Tom Perry moves into the main body of the Dudley team for the first time in his short career at King’s Lynn on Sunday (7pm). Perry, the British Under-21 Grasstrack champion, has taken to the shale sport superbly in the famous green, red and white – and manager Will Pottinger has named him in the number three spot for the trip to the Norfolk Arena. Heathens are looking to complete the double after beating the Stars comfortably at Wolverhampton last month. But they’re without top rider and inspirational skipper Lee Smart who is riding for his Premier League club Stoke. Pottinger has drafted in Weymouth star Byron Bekker as cover. Said Pottinger: “We go to King’s Lynn hoping to get at least a point to keep the scoreboard ticking over. “But it will be tough around there, the fact that we beat them comfortably around Monmore counts for nothing.” KING’S LYNN: Simon Lambert, Scott Campos, Cal McDade, Adam Lowe, Darren Mallett, Lewis Kerr, Jake Knight. DUDLEY: Byron Bekker, Micky Dyer, Tom Perry, Jake Anderson, Jon Armstrong, Ashley Morris, Richard Franklin.

  6. Rich won't be riding tomorrow night. As in the press release on the Dudley website, he was struggling to talk or eat yesterday. He might be back for our match against Scunthorpe at Monmore Green next Tuesday though.
  7. The qualification criteria should be the same as the PL Pairs, each NL club can pick two from their top three riders.
  8. I think it might be 1pm but i'm not 100% sure.
  9. No problem with Tyson riding tonight. The necessary paperwork has been sorted to make sure he can ride.

    Fanzone ?

11.30am - 3pm in St. Mary's Street No definite plans have been revealed but it was mentioned in Speedway Star a few weeks ago that there should be a display of vintage bikes, speedway personalities making appearances, Leigh Adams with his motorhome, the Sky Sports team and photo opportunities with the grid girls
  11. DUDLEY Heathens skipper Lee Smart will appear in the first race of next week's FAST Golden Hammer individual meeting at Wolverhampton. Smart, who freely admits he enjoys riding the Monmore Green track, will face young Aussie sensation Tyson Nelson, Heathens colleague Jake Anderson and Glasgow's teenage star Nick Morris in the prestigious individual event which takes place on Tuesday, July 13. Heathens Chairman Nigel Pearson said: "It's an exciting field, packed with young riders desperate to make their mark. "And the fans are excited by this meeting. As soon as we announced the relaunch of the Heathens after a 14-year absence we were snowed under by requests for the Golden Hammer." Smart, meanwhile, has also been booked by parent club Birmingham to make a guest appearance for them against Redcar at Perry Barr on Wednesday. GOLDEN HAMMER LINE-UP: Tyson Nelson, Lee Smart, Jake Anderson, Nick Morris, Craig Cook, Ashley Morris, James Sarjeant, Kyle Newman, Tom Perry, Gino Manzares, Micky Dyer, Jerran Hart, Simon Lambert, Richard Franklin, Todd Kurtz, Jon Armstrong.
  12. DUDLEY Heathens have wasted no time in snapping up hot prospect Micky Dyer who will make his debut on Friday. Dyer, 19, is from New South Wales and will replace James Sarjeant in the Heathens side for their trip to Weymouth - and he will make his home debut in the National League clash with King's Lynn at Wolverhampton next Tuesday, June 29. Manager Will Pottinger watched Dyer take his first laps on a British track at Stoke on Monday when he joined the Heathens squad for a practice session arranged by former Cradley favourites Mark Robinson and Anthony Boyd - and he was suitably impressed. Said Pottinger: "We have taken the opportunity to strengthen the team. Micky comes recommended from contacts in Australia and after seeing him practice for myself at Stoke on Monday, I'm sure we now have a team to push on and challenge for the play offs and silverware. "I hope our great supporters will show their backing to Micky as he gets to grip with British Speedway with our matches at Weymouth on Friday and against King's Lynn at Monmore Green on Tuesday. "Unfortunately including Micky comes at the expense of James Sarjeant which I must admit is far from ideal. "Dropping a young British lad goes against the principles of the National League but until the system is changed this type of change is always a possibility. "We still have talented British youngsters in our team including Richard Franklin, Ashley Morris and Tom Perry but we thank James for his efforts so far this season and we wish him all the best for the future. "We have held open his place at the Golden Hammer next month and I'm sure the fans will give him a great reception." Dyer joins Dudley on a six-point average which means Wolverhampton teenager Ashley Morris moves down to reserve to partner Tom Perry for the two vital meetings with Weymouth and King's Lynn. The new riding order is as follows - 1. Lee Smart, 2. Michael Dyer, 3. Richard Franklin, 4. Jake Anderson, 5. Jon Armstrong, 6. Ashley Morris, 7. Tom Perry.
  13. DUDLEY Heathens Speedway bosses have been amazed by the response from fans to the return of the Golden Hammer individual meeting next month. The event, which is also promoting the FAST message through Dudley Stroke Association, takes place at Monmore Green, Wolverhampton, on Tuesday, July 13. Club manager Will Pottinger said: "The feedback from supporters has been quite staggering and we're going to have a great night. "Everyone I've spoken to is excited about it and we're really looking forward to a great night of racing. "It's also nice to be promoting Dudley Stroke Association and their FAST message - Face, Arms, Speech, Time. "Riders have welcomed the meeting too and in bringing back the old days we've even got the original Dudley Wood Pork Sandwich van coming to Monmore Green. That will be busy all night, I'll be tucking into one for sure!" All eight Heathens riders have been booked for the event along with reigning National League Riders' Champion Craig Cook, Mildenhall man Jerran Hart, Aussie newcomer Michael Dyer, American teenager Gino Manzarez and Newport's stylish Australian Todd Kurtz, Birmingham reserve Kyle Newman and Buxton's new sensation Nick Morris.
  14. As everybody else is having a go, i'll throw our hat into the ring! We'll probably have Smart, Anderson, Franklin and either Armstrong or Taylor as our four which is as good as anybody else IMO but i would say that Jerran Hart will be riding for Scunthorpe at Glasgow that day which should mean that he'll be missing from the Mildenhall side. After being at the British Under 21 Semi Final at Mildenhall, it's going to be one hell of a squeeze fitting forty riders and bikes into the pits area.

National League Rider Websites Updated 2013

    Ashley Morris - www.ash-racing.co.uk
  16. Congratulations to Jerran on an excellent ride in the final. Commiserations to Joe Haines. He was excellent all night apart from the race that mattered the most. There was a couple of decent races and Kyle Howarth was very good considering he's only 15. I was impressed with the young talent that we have and lets hope that some of them go on to have good careers in speedway.
  17. I'm looking forward to seeing Cradley riding in a Elite League standard meeting for the first time in about 10 years on Thursday. It will be interesting to see Darcy Ward ride for us although i do feel Swindon look the strongest team. As long as we are competitive then that's good enough for me although a win would be very nice
  18. I believe Adam is fully fit now and he will be riding for Cradley. Please see zeistsport's post before your last post to see the full line up from each team or visit www.swindon-speedway.co.uk to see for yourself.
  19. Of the top riders available Hans is my favourite choice to ride for us apart from obviously Greg Hancock. I reckon Hans will be very keen to ride for us what with Erik Gundersen being his hero. Hans and Adam Shields give us a decent top end to our team to match Swindon, Reading & Oxford's. Just out of interest, we have got our AGM this coming Thursday at Cradley Heath Liberal Club (8pm) and following that will be a Speedway Race Night with the top prize being x2 admission tickets to this meeting. Entry to the race night is just £1 per person so if any Cradley fans want to win some tickets then come along on Thursday!
  20. I cannot wait for this meeting now as i would have missed the original date at the end of July. Fingers crossed everything goes ok this time around and of course the Heathens win
  21. Excellent racecard, thanks.
  22. I think the teams look very evenly matched which should make a great contest between the four clubs. Obviously i want Cradley to win and i feel our team has a good chance. In the Fish we have a current Robin who's being piling up the points at reserve. Adam Shields has top scored for Lakeside on there last two visits and both Mads and Fryer are former Robins and they know the Blunsdon circuit well so i fancy our chances of success. Thanks to Gary & co at Swindon for putting on this meeting
