  1. The track gets quite a lot more use during practice than it does during the GP. And of course, most of the riders use the same line all the time, they don't go anywhere near the fence...and so, the track gets battered.

It then takes a lot of work and a lot of packing to try to ensure the inside does not rut up for the GP.

There is one, and only one, very simple solution...

    Don't practice !  :approve:

In my opinion, it's absolutely unnecessary...and the GP's would be richly enhanced if they binned it. It actually would have made life easier and brought down costs if they'd done it years ago, but there ya go...

Good post, they always moan about the track being different, lets bin practice

  2. I thought that was one of the worst GP's ever, the track was an absoloute disgrace, who ever prepared should be sacked.

I dont think I saw one passing move in the first 12 heats other than a mistake because of the ruts.

If Olsen thinks that sort of track is what is required he wants sacking.

    Truly dreadful

  3. Hey now i'm confused, is there another two bob lift company? :-)

Let me assure you BCD 1) not go a problem with Mick, as Hans advisor, we do communicate, 2) I can't seem to recall being refused team sponsorship with Pboro this season despite being offered it (as with two other clubs), however, logistics of our whereabouts proved it difficult to get to the meetings.

I can't say i know at this point who NL is but it will only be a matter of time before I do  B)

    Perhaps I can help you,

NL is your wife, I didnt realise you had split up again.

  4. It might be allowed in the UK but the GP's are a different matter, And interstingly enough comments were made by the powers that be in Parken so I herd from a mechanic friend.

The press release for this story stated that Mick Bratley was Peterborough Co Promoter and advisor to Hans Andersen.

If the Daily Mirror want to interpret that as manager, then thats up to them.

Anyway why would a Reading sponsor be so interested, are you so fed up with putting the boot into Colin Horton that you now have switched tactics to stabbing Mick Bratley in the back.

Or is the real reason that maybe you're just bitter that Peterborough withdrew their proposal of team sponsorship to you this season because they decided they did not need the hassle from a two bob lift company.

I see the spelling hasnt improved yet

  5. Having Read todays Daily Mirror on the subject. Mick Bratley is referred to as Hans Manager, Correct me if Im wrong but isnt Mr Bratley Co-Promoter at Peterbro now, and I was of the opinion that a Promoter or Co-Promoter is to have any involvement or Bias towards a  rider.

Interstingly enough Mr Bratley was seen on TV in the Pits with Hans in Saturday nights GP, surley this shouldnt be allowed.

I wouldnt take everything you read in the Daily Mirror as gospel, its not known for its accuracy is it, secondly every promoter in speedway is involved with his riders and is clearly biased towards his riders, It goes with the job.

Promoters are always in the pits, its required under the rules, certainly in the UK anyway.

Try a different daily it might help with the spelling

  6. Felt really let down by this GP. I thought the track prep was abysmal, and that surprised me because the Swedes or usually on the mark. Dry, dusty and slick for the first few races we were told it would improve, but when it was watered it became very slippery and even worse. The racing usually improves towards the Semi and Final like the last GP in Poland but it got WORSE !!!  I don't know if the track conditions were at all to do with Crumps and Pedersens falls [ i doubt it personally ] but it is strange to see two top world clas riders lose it on their own.

Kudos to Crump for pulling his bike of the track, and even more so knowing now that he was hurt.

It doesnt really matter where the GP is being staged because the man responsible for its state is Ole Olsen

While he is GP Director in charge of track preperation it will be slick, slick and more slick.

  7. Bit like at JBJ's testimonial at the EOES where I stood on first bend, back straight and third bend and got a face full of shale everytime.

Funny thing tho, I didn't find there to be much shale on the track on Sat night at all, slick as a badgers ar$e springs to mind. :D

Did you need to be told by that Lynn fan that the place was being done up especially seeings you've been 'going since 1970'?  Surely that would have been obvious to you!

Enjoyed the meeting, rider of the night for me was Travis, great to see him back at the NA, and such a shame he couldn't have held off Bjarne in the final to see Reading deservedly take the honours.

More fool you, I sit in the stand you know the big thing with 2,300 seats in it.

I rarely get hit by shale

  8. Enjoyed the meeting with some excellent races, especially towards the end.

Have to say I am impressed with the way the Norfolk Arena is looking now. Facilities are far better than most Elite tracks and was good to see Chapmans efforts rewarded with a big crowd.

Congrats to Crump and Pedersen on their win also.

Not so sure I agree with all of that

    1. The racing wasnt to bad

    2. Spectating at this place is still dire, their are very few seats and if you stand on the bends you end up wearing half the track by the end of the meeting.

One of the Lynn fans told me they are doing up the place, I have been going since 1970 it shouldnt take 37 years, I dont like standing on uneven earth banks.

    3. If you are not allowed to take your own food and drink into the place, then it should be clearly advertised on the media releases.

    4. £3 for a programme is fair enough for this sort of event, but it should have included the Consolation Final and space for the many changes.

And whilst on the subject of changes if these events are to be taken seriously again someone should remind the competing riders to be more professional.

Five changes to the riding order is a total disgrace, David Norris, Kris Kasprzak, Janusz Kolodziej, Ales Dryml and Robert Miskowiak all failed to show and were replaced with a variety of second strings and reserves.

Yes I am quite sure some of those missing were genuine, I am also quite sure some of them were not.

Lastly well done to Bjarne Pedersen did very well to pass McGowan in the final, especially as he received absolutely no help whatsover from his partner Jason Crump who was out of the gate and gone.

  9. Having attended Cardiff for the last 5 years I have found it more expensive every year, Its bad enough that BSI rip us off without the hotels getting in on the act

We have booked to go to Germany for the last GP and with flights, hotel & tickets, its just as cheap if not cheaper than going to Cardiff.

If you do it yourself and its not differcult, its works out about half what reputed speedway travel clubs charge.

  10. Well done Richard, a deserved win. A big thank you to the Panthers mangement for not only bringing him to the showground but also keeping faith with him when he struggled at the beginning of the season. I am sure that I am joined by all Panthers fans in hoping that he is in the Panthers colours again next year. Well done again Richard.

I agree fully with the above comments, Look forward to watching him progress again next year

  11. I thought the GP was one of the worse this year, the track was an absolute disgrace, do the organisers actually want to see racing.

Anyone watching that for the first time wouyld have switched off, its pains me to say it but I agree with Shovlar, It certainly looked like Hancock had 2 wheels over the white line

  12. That remains a possibility - he could revert to his previous status alongside Bjarne Pedersen, although BP's status as a GP rider must surely be under threat. Maybe BP will be the Andersen of 2007 - no, I don't see it either.

But I can't see anyone getting anywhere close to Crump in 2007. Motivation a problem? Won the world title on Saturday, scored a maximum for Wroclaw on Sunday - I don't see a motivation problem, to be honest.

I was just thinking were we not saying the same about Trick at the end of 2006 and look what happened to him

  13. This country is and will not be going anywhere with that attitude, Mark Loram along with Chris Louis are the old guard who have had there time.

Yes they are good speedway riders, but they have had there time, they are never going to improve, and it time now to concentrate on the younger riders, like Steady, Bomber and riders like Danny King.

If they wanted to qualify they should have done the British Final, some simpathy for Loram who missed out because of red tape, absoloutly none for Louis who apart from Ipswich & Arena Essex looks totally passed it.

Harris scored the better points so deserves the chance

  14. Call me old fashioned but I would like the series to consist of riders there on merit - I think that the nomination of wildcards sucks.

Without going over the old ground of GP's v. World Final and the imperfections of the qualification system for a world final, at least every rider in the world final had to qualify via a number of meetings.

I think that the top 8 should qualify for the next year's GP series and all the rest should qualify on the race track and not smoke filled rooms.

Completely agree, only the top 8 should get into next years GP, the rest should qualify although I still think its we will have 2 brits, Harris is my bet after his good final score

  15. if Loram is to be a wild card for 2007 then it has to be at the expense of Richardson who consitantly fails to finish in the top eight qualifying places year in year out.

BSI will always include brits wether they qualify in the top eight or not to keep its gem Cardiff bubbling.with the way BSI have gone with its wild cards this year i would expect  either Harris or Stead will join Nichols in 2007 if they fail in the GP challenge

I agree, cannot see BSI taking a chance on having just 1 brit in the GP, my money is on the best score between Steady or Bomber on Saturday in Vetlanda deciding it.

  16. The rules were different back then due to the reserve thing.

Hans will NOT get a medal if he's in the top 3 and will NOT qualify for next year if he's in the top 8.

The rules clearly state that wildcards, reserves and replacements have there points taken awya and the standings are worked out from there after each GP, so sticktly speaking, Hans is on 0 Gp points ATM.

This was raised earlier and advice was sought, his points will not count towards next year so even if he finshes in the top 8 he will not qualify for 2007.

But he has been informed that if he scores enough points to finish on the overall rostrum he will receive the appropriate medal

The way he is riding that is a distinct possibility
