I thought the top league had to have a minimum number of teams, I could be wrong as I don’t follow it closely. So if as you suggest Buster had gone 2nd division and took Peterborough 2nd division what would have happened to all the other clubs wanting to stay in the top division.

    just a random thought

Let’s be fair rules are very fluid within U.K. speedway, we regularly have five year plans that last one year and the speedway regulations change yearly so rules generally mean nothing.

Also what the BSPL regularly state has often been proved to be totally unreliable and bears no relation to common sense at all.

    2021     (6 teams)

    1             Peterborough

    6             King's Lynn

    2022     (6 teams)

    5             King's Lynn

    2023      (7 teams)

    6             King's Lynn

    7             Peterborough

Buster must have really hated 2021, it ruined his "perfect" record.

Solid team with a reserve who was flying at the start of the year, so much so that he ended up at No 1 and then got injured, the team was confident had an excellent team manager and always had an in form reserve.

What I don’t understand is why people are slagging off Buster for having to work to a budget. All successful businesses have to do this. I would rather that he pays what can be afforded and keep speedway going rather than overspend and bankrupt the club (as has been the case in some other clubs).

No problem with working to a budget but teams in whatever league the management choose need to be competitive, if you cannot afford to be competitive in the Premier league then run in the Championship.

I seem to recall Chapman’s King Lynn team did rather well in the Championship past decades.

I am sure that Alex said a new face would be in the team at Belle Vue, and that Pickering was also coming back sometime this week. It wouldn’t have hurt Alex to tell us why the team change hasn’t happened.

The new face is Rob Lyon, standing in for Alex Brady apparently

In our Captains mind maybe, it's not compulsory to ride in is it?

No it isn’t but once entered (his reasons for entering are beyond me) I think he is committed, I think the late fixture switch was important because clearly he would have had his travel plans in place.

Quite why riders who are well past their GP standard and riders that are clearly not up to anywhere near GP standard enter the FIM qualifiers is beyond me but their you go.

Was a pretty decent meeting last night, the result was never in doubt once we saw how King, Rew, Barker, Hume & Thompson were riding.

My gob was smacked when I heard Chris Harris say that it was an honour to be captain of the team and it's something he takes very seriously... coming in the very next match after he decided not to ride for Leicester at Peterborough I found a bit of a p155 take!

On a positive note, was easily the best crowd of the season so far, with it looking to be up there with the Saturday nights of recent seasons

Pretty sure an FIM qualifier takes precedent over a Premier League fixture in any event, but this was a late re arranged match so Harris is hardly at fault for this one

I never really understand this though - it’s a bit of a well known ‘secret’ so why not come out and say we have signed Tarasenko but just waiting on approval? It makes them look silly by just saying nothing and then when the announcement comes it’s already a huge anti climax as everybody knows.

    Indeed

I don't know what angles BSN were showing, because I'm not into that.  But I was at the meeting, and it was a big crowd, with people queuing from the ticket office through the car park and out onto the street 15-minutes before start time, that's why the start was delayed.

I watched the riders parade which showed the terraces as the riders went round the track, from what I saw the crowd looked dreadful, BSN showed the queues outside when it mentioned the delay, the main gate queue showed 30 at best which is why I mentioned it.

The queue seen was just in front of the ticket office and at that point didn’t extend into the car park let alone the street, this was at the published start time of 7.30pm.

To be fair Jack Thomas was originally in and would have made a big difference. Riss and Thomas as RS and things would look a lot different so Louis has been a tad unlucky this time.

Would he hell, your team is based on King and Riss backing up the dynamic duo, when them or their replacements don’t turn up your vulnerable as proved by a solid 1-7 Wolves team, generally Batman and Robin get you home but it’s going to fail on occasions.

My view of Barker is that "he is crap". That is not because he is riding for Ipswich, I have always thought that. Facing a full strength Witches team the final result could well have have been different for the Wolves.

Well listening to Craig Cook recently it’s clear that the Witches tried him first to replace Riss, it must have been clear to everyone that Barker wasn’t the answer but that’s the problem with top heavy teams, King and Riss were important to the teams success this year.

Wolves are riding well at present and now Becker is back a very solid top five especially at fortress Monmore, and with a free scoring reserve they are currently a danger to any team.
