  1. Ellis Perks! Wow! Hope Danny and the Berwick riders and marshall are all ok.

Edited because it appeared I was wishing bad luck on James however he is only actually averaging 3.68.

    Newcastle 2017

Issue 12 of the GSA's was obviously written by Dan Brown. All the Redcar team's figures were incorrect. Charles Wright wasn't even given a new average when he should have been (but then again it would have been wrong anyway). This was corrected in issue 13 (issued the following day!) and the figures are now correct, however we had the ludicrous situation where a set of GSA's were issued on the day they became effective! Good job Jason Garrity didn't lose his #1 place as we had to name our team 3 days before the averages which determined our line up were issued. Joke.

    Redcar V Workington Sgp Cl

Mmmn. Perks didn't pull up any trees at Workington. Putting to one side that Ellis was unwell what does this have to do with anything, last night was at Redcar. I agree that Matt is riding well and I'm very impressed with him and any team would like to have him in their side. I am a big fan. However lets put things into perspective. The only Bears that Matt took points off last night were Richard Hall, Coty Garcia, our guest reserve Tom Bacon and Charles Wright - who fell in their race together - again this isn't criticism, paid 11 from 5 rides away from home for your number 6? Who wouldn't love that! It's just that in his last 2 home matches Ellis (our #7) scored paid 31 points. Ellis and Matt would have met at least twice (and quite possibly more times) last night and would have proved slightly stiffer opposition than the 3 times he beat Richard Hall. Personally I feel a little robbed would have liked to have seen the 2 (British) youngsters going head to head. Good luck to Matt, hope he keeps on improving. Glad you like Mr. Keay. We're quite keen on him too! A well deserved victory last night and with Proctor, Jorgensen and Williamson in your team (3 I'd liked to have seen in Bears colours this year) I hope you have a successful season!

Nope. Joni and Rafa were both here today gone tomorrow flash in the pans a la Smart and Rajkowski. Not naming names though as I have friends I would still like to talk to me on Thursday! 😉

Started with that nice bloke that rode for us for a few years, who's name escapes me at the moment. Foreigner I believe. Really nice bloke though. Couldn't ride for toffee. I liked him though! Apparently he was a really nice chap!

Doubt it. All Richards problems have been out on track.

Look. There's NO good time to tell anyone that they're dropped. Read Kevin Keays official statement which I think is very gracious and diplomatic. Good sense seems to be prevailing all around. Only fans of other teams on here seem to be upset! At least we didn't say he was injured or retiring.

2 reserve guests I believe. 1 being a NL rider.

Can't see any problem with what our management team have done. Drop a rider who deserves dropping then offer him an extra payday and a chance to rub their noses in it by banging in a big score to prove them wrong. Why not just drop him like Messers Tungate, Starke, Graversen, Roynon, Carr etc?

    Fernando Garcia / Toby Busch

No one will get a new average until our next home meeting against Workington next Thursday as 4 home and 4 away meetings are required. Jason, Charles and Ellis also require another away meeting (tomorrow at Sheffield) as they have each missed a match. As the team is currently averaging over 42 points we will not have points to play with and changes would therefore have to be done on a like for like basis.

Redcar V Berwick Ch 4th May

Who knows? Probably only a couple of dozen speedway promoters, and they'll change their mind when next weeks batch of Supplementary Regulations are issued. On point 1 if Halls average can only drop to 3 (and to be fair to him it is 2.48 at the moment and not the 2 my previous post suggested) then even more excuse to get rid. On point 2 I'd rather see Perks riding against better riders. How is someone going to get any better. I'm sorry but I don't agree with this 'you must have a 'x.xx' rider in your team but we'll at least give him easier rides' rubbish. If you're good enough, you're good enough. Bring on the stars - I'll show them! As to averages, well! Those who know me know that I spend probably 50% of my awake life doing stats. I'm sorry, but being such an important part of British speedway they are very important, however..... a riders average cannot begin to explain the importance of that rider to the team that he is riding for. A 3 point reserve for the worst team in the league can be just as (if not more) important/exciting/entertaining than a 5 point reserve in the best team. Oh! Stats, I love 'em, but they do my head in most of the time.

I agree. Want Tobias back in the team as soon as/if fit. But if it's months away we need to consider changes to maintain the feelgood factor at the MPA.

Redcar V Berwick Ch 4th May

Too high an average. Even before Richard gets his 'new' 2.00 average after our next home league match Danny wouldn't fit. And thanks to the improvements in Jason, Charles, Jonas and Ellis we are currently averaging well over 40 points as a team so replacements can only be done on a like for like basis, so currently anyone on a 3.61 average or below (Danny is 3.7) or after our next home match 2.
  15. Sorry? I'm not being funny but I just don't get this. So what you're saying is that Championship teams that were originally declared at a 40.00 point limit can only re-declare to said 40.00 limit, however Premiership teams originally declared at a 50.00 limit can only re-declare to 42.00? Won't be many changes to Premiership teams if they are going to lose 8 points. Haven't read it that way and don't understand the reasoning for it if so. Cheers, Boothers
  16. Yes. Kevin Keay had also noted the error and reported it. It would appear it has now been corrected.
  17. Yes but it is clearly wrong as JBA wasn't credited with a ride at all for that heat! Scorecard only has him down for 4 rides. This will make both riders MA's incorrect for the season.

    Berwick 2017 50th Year

Sorry but I don't think this is correct - it is for 'new' riders however on reading the regulations (yawn!) I reckon that riders with an existing average (ie 'rolling' MA) will continue to roll forward from last year. These will include any meetings up to and including a Monday (every other week). New MA's to be issued every other Thursday to become applicable the following Monday. So averages will change once a fortnight rather than once a month. No date for this is specified in the regs! Hope my reading of the regs is correct - I'm not putting your statement down, merely stating my understanding of the rules - and I'm willing to be corrected by anyone in the know (if there is anyone in the know!)
  19. He didn't (though he did hit the ground after about 40 metres) and it wasn't. Well done Panthers.

    Berwick 2017 50th Year

Nope sorry. Having had both Berge and Bellego at Redcar recently there is no comparison. Berge turned up each week and punched his clockcard. Bellego turned himself into a Premier League (as was) Number 1.
  21. BWD has only ridden once round MPA/STMP scoring 4 points from 5 rides so he really could have scored anything this week. Lunna has had 4 meetings here averaging around 5.6. It's really a toss up and I reckon Lunna is as good a guest as you could get in this situation. Similarly Bailey has had only 1 meeting at MPA/STMP scoring 2 from 3 rides. Garcia averages 4.4 in his 4 meetings here so is a bit of a drop from Toby's 6.3 however as stated before I'm quite pleased with his signing. Overall I reckon Peterborough gain from the unavailability issues but it makes for an interesting night tomorrow and if Coty can hit the ground running it really should be a close run thing!

    Redcar 2017

Quite happy with this signing purely because it wasn't 'the usual suspects'. Had a similar thing happened this time last year the new signing would have been guaranteed to have been one of two riders. Good luck to Coty as a Bear and lets make it as difficult to bring Toby back as possible (if you know what I mean).

Is there any news on the 'Get your name on the fence' initiative that Kevin has mentioned in the past?

    Sheffield 2017

Having just caught up with some of this thread can I just point out that at the time of Lasse Bjerre's disagreement with JBA at the 4TT weekend Lasse's average for 2016 was 6.11. At the seasons end he was averaging 6.49. So if he was deliberately dropping his average he wasn't making a very good job of it!

Dont believe there is any animosity on either side anymore. There may have been after Rob was initially dropped but plenty of water has flown under the bridge since I'd like to think.
