Err, no. As a result of Saturday, Scott is actually in joint 6th place with AJ. Bjarne Pedersen is one point behind them both in 8th. Agreed about the rest though

Scott Nicholls
Wizza replied to Hans Andersen No1 Fan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
In my opinion, the ref got the Zagar decision spot on. Too much of a delay between the contact and him falling off. If he had fallen off immediately, my opinion would be different. Personally, I thought the Italian GP showed Scotty making just the sort of progress all us Brit fans have been clamouring for.... i.e. When he reached the semis, he showed some real ATTITUDE and that 'will to win' that has been so sadly lacking previously. Even better was the fact that he repeated the dose in the final Compare this weekend with the Czech GP from last year for example..... Completely the reverse.... And to show my lack of bias..... I also thought HA did himself a load of credit with his attitude at the end of the final and in the post-final interviews with his magnanimous comments. -
Agreed Spook. Personally, I reckon he got both the Pedersen & Nicholls incidents spot on. Pedersen did absolutely nothing wrong at all - didn't change his line, Iversen was trying to squeeze down. 'nuff said. The problem with Zagar was the discernible DELAY between the contact and him falling off. Had he fallen the instant Scott hit him, opinions would have rightly been very different. Remember when Mark Loram clouted Scott in a VERY similar way in Cardiff 2001? Difference was Scotty stayed on...... Only 'wrong' one was the Gollob decision - but only because it infringed with the rulebook....

This is precisely why this sort of thread evolves. Remember Cardiff and the Andersen/Holta incident? Holta rode Andersen fairly hard, but tolerable. What happened next? Down came the Andersen red mist and a lap later, he nigh on t-boned Holta and got himself excluded. In the following interview, all Andersen could say was that Holta did the same to him! Now I always try not to be anti-anyone. In fact, I think it's a travesty that HA isn't in the GP series (though he will doubtless see the benefit when he returns next year). However, this sort of event only reinforces some of the negativity shown in this thread. And for the record, I didn't like Nicholls show of unsporting conduct either....

Rolling starts in Grand Prix
Wizza replied to Philip Addison's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Yep, of course rolling starts should be penalised. Unfortunately, it's not the refs and the starting marshals you need to tell, is it.... However, judging by the amount of dirt that appears on an SGP track these days, the chances of the right people listening range from slim to remote as that is the other bane of an SGP fans existence Let's all get onto BSI about it.... mail@benfieldsports.com -
British GP - An honest opinion
Wizza replied to ezekiel's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Great idea Gemini There used to be a mailbox called speedway@benfieldsports.com However, the only one I can find now is mail@benfieldsports.com Let's all get on there and say what we think so that we can bring the house down next year -
Seeing as Sky has copped a lot of abuse recently for their PL attitude, maybe we should cut them some slack here. Reason? Well, they don't actually cover the GP's themselves. This is done by Chrysalis who are employed by BSI. The Chrysalis pictures are then shipped on to all the worldwide networks willing to pay for them..... For the record, yes Jason's reaction was bad but I have to agree with the point about invasion of privacy. Not only did the cameraman go somewhere he probably shouldn't have, but he stayed there for quite some time also - just desperate for a reaction it appeared. I think all parties involved deserve a reprimand of some sort....

Air horns at Cardiff
Wizza replied to sjw ministerofport's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Sorry Gemini, but no they are not it seems. I remember that as soon as a steward clapped eyes on my bag last year, I was asked if the contents could be viewed. I had a plastic bottle of lemonade which I was told to leave behind :-( And like shazzybird says, it then becomes a bit pressurised in the bladder region if you empty it sharpish -

For yours (and anyone elses) benefit Robbo, YES they do remove bottles of pop etc if you're carrying on the way in. As with most other stadium sports events these days, anything that can be considered either a weapon or a projectile is confiscated. :-( At least they do let you finish the contents before you go in though :!: -
Thanks guys for clearing that up. I've been looking virtually every day, I thought it was just me unable to find stuff! If I find it first, I'll be on here telling folk where it is......
