Well done PK.

Superb meeting, have just watched it again and its even better second time around.
-
Great meeting tonight, special rides from Cookie and Kildemand
Also an unbelieable pass from Compo!
Good to see the old riders especially Lou Sansom and Stoney but all the riders made it a great evening well done to Tony Jackson who put in a a lot of hard work to organise the meeting.

Started to rain now about 10 miles from Worky............. hope it blows over soon.
-
Peter Karlsson returns to Worky for 40th meeting, very good news, a well liked former Comet and all round nice guy.
-
I'm on for this one, all the way from Workington!! Emil has done it for me.Why not Redcar v Workington on the same night.......... it is a little closer?
-
think this is a poor line up to be honest, and a 15 heat formula? i can understand the concerns about the times of the trains and that sort of thing, but seems very poor indeed. I would loved to have seen Piszcz in the line up if they could have got him.Poor line up?
All ex Comets or guests so beggars cant be choosers.......... this is the Wokington 40th Anniversary, there will be many ex riders who will be there on the night too, who may have a trundle round on the back of a bike or may even have a blast down the home straight on a borrowed machine?

I thought it was announced at the last AGM that the Fours would be held at Kings Lynn.
Announced recently that Somerset will host the Pairs in July.

Is Cardiff the best Grand Prix? Good atmosphere, good craic in the pub beforehand, but the track veers from totally awful to just about adequate. All the best
Rob
Got to agree there Rob, Cardiff is a good weekend away for a few beers, great atmosphere in the stadium and some Speedway thrown in but not one of the better ones for the racing, usually the Polish GP,s serve up the best on track action.
-
In the past people have gone to the Crown just outside the stadium, but both myself and Bluejam are suggesting this year a new venue The New Barrack Tavern.
The New Barrack Tavern is about 100 yards from the stadium, has two rooms a covered walled garden, and also does food including a carvery
Maybe that's why we could not find it!

Well done Ricky Ashworth, a deserved winner with some great overtaking manouveres.
-
We are still looking for the place, we did go to the Garrison Hotel for a pint thinking that might be the place?
This was about 14:00hrs but not many people about so went to the Crown, had a good chat with some Berwick fan's, also Andre's dad asked if we were going to be cheering for him (Compo).
Sorry we missed what sounded like a good afternoon.
-
Well done Craig Cook, hope he is first to sign for the Comet's in 2010.

Very very ironic mate.Arsenal.

Is it just me or are the GP's becoming mind bogglingly dull this season? Anyone agree ?Last night the first 11 races were won from the inside gate and probably over half of all the races won from the inside.
There was very little serious overtaking plus the usual problem of races being spoilt by ruts.
I think Matej Zagar's comments were telling when he said that the track was not like it usually is-so someone has obviously messed aroung with the track and on last nights showing they didn't do a very good job.
Its difficult to point the finger of blame without knowing all the facts but it does seem that Ole Olsen has a lot to answer for. He has overall responsibilty. In the studio last night they were saying that they were unable to get to question him, which is pretty much par with his aloof and self-centred attitude as a rider.
Its bad enough for regular fans who understand speedway but how on earth will anything like lasts nights fiasco maintain the interest of the casual viewer ? It could never be described as a good advert for speedway and yet Olsen &Co seem to do very little about it.
What does everyone think ? Are the GP's good television, or if not what should be done ?
It's just you and one or two others.

Best of luck to Craig Cook.

Some good racing last night, Kerr was a surprising but deserved winner, well done Chris.
Steady was good but made some poor starts and got caught in traffic early on in some heats so lost points.
Screeny made a good fist of it but was hit by mechanical trouble's so finished down the order.
All the riders had some good races at various points in the meeting so the scoring was pretty well spread.
Biggest cheer went to John Branney when he won heat 19 from David Howe,Lyons and Lambert.
Some very fast times last night which ranged from 63.0 seconds in heat 1 (Kerr) to heat's 15 and 19 65.7 second's (Screen and Branney).
Well worth the admission money of £15.00 but the crowd was slightly down on the usual League match figure i think.................... oh and it was cold here comes Autumn/Winter.
1.Kerr 13
2.Stead 12
3. Doolan 12
4 Compton 9
Haines 8
Piszcz 8
Ashworth 8
Proctor 7
Screen 7
Branney 7
Wright 6
Howe 6
Lyons 5
Harrison 5
Sneddon 4
Lambert 1
