Personally, I don't think Zagar is the answer for Brum, Milik needs replacing for me, he's not even one for the future. Tolley needs to approach one of the other half a dozen riders that were "on offer" "Laurence (Rogers - Director of Speedway) and Chris (Adams - Assistant Team Manager), as well as myself, are extremely busy in the background to make sure we pick the best two from around half a dozen riders we have on offer.” - Nigel Tolley

GP 1st round Gorican Saturday 27th April
iainb replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Personally I thought it was a pretty decent GP, above average in fact compared to recent years. It may not be racing for the purist, but the way the bikes and tracks are riders seem to have to be pretty extreme to make any moves and use the ruts, it certainly makes for entertainment and the FIM don't seem to be in any hurry to tone the bikes down. Heat 15 was purist stuff and a great race! None of the noobs disgraced themselves and probably did at least as good as some of the journeyman that have been cast aside this year with maybe Huckenbeck being the stand out. Maybe the reason a lot of the field don't resonate with some is because we just don't get to see most of them regularly in this country anymore? As for Woffy, for me he's at the stage of his career where he's quite comparable to Doyley and the contrast between the 2 is blindingly obvious to see, just the body language on the bike, Doyley looks as though he'd do almost anything to get back to the top, his semi final 2nd place was all you needed to see, brilliant stuff, Woffy... I can see him retiring from Speedway at the end of the year. Well done to Jack Holder, very impressive, I like his style, just the right amount of arrogance without going over the top with it and he's able to back it up unlike Woffy these days. -
Are the quali sessions refereed? You could have the situation of riders baulking each other during the practice/quali season to make their opponents' time slower and therefore not qualify for the "sprint" race

Edinburgh V Berwick BSN Trophy 26th April
iainb replied to allthegearbutnaeidea's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
That was shaping up to be quite a close contest but Berwick kept pressing the self destruct button with countless engine failures, falls and exclusions. I quite like the look of the Edinburgh team as dark horses, best racing I've seen from Armadale in the last few years Ride of the night from Schlein in 15! -

How many points are Berwick going to continue to throw away? -

More passing in the first 2 heats than I've seen in the last 2 years at Edinburgh! -
German GP Landshut Saturday 18th May
iainb replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I always used to pronounce this Land-shut, but listening to Celina Liebmann recently she pronounced it Lands-hut. Now every time I hear it pronounced Land-shut it's really annoying me... I was better off in ignorance. -
All those riders touching the tapes and being warned for moving... or not.

Dickson did the right thing tonight in replacing Douglas with Kemp when he touched the tapes and remarked on it in his after meeting interview. It was obvious that passing was going to be at a premium tonight, especially in the early heats, so even after Milik's impressive victory in heat 1 it was looking extremely unlikely he was going to come through from the back in heat 5 against Masters and Lawson, so to make that decision was very strange especially as Dickson had basically shown Birmingham what to do in the previous heat. With the Brummies struggling for points on the track the last thing they need is for the management to be making basic errors like this.

Twice, and Becker also. There are very limited options with regards to JT, so it's going to be down to the management, club and his team mates to help him get going I think.
-
Weakest in the league but with possibly the strongest reserve partnership... although they didn't really show it tonight
-
If it's any consolation, I think you've got the best looking race suits in the league so at least you looked good while you were taking a sound beating

You should put the Snooker on

Masters and Bates

A bit harsh, the lad made the gate twice and looked very comfortable out front in only his 2nd ride on the track ever. Anyway didn't your manager design the track?
-
I don't know why you'd put Milik off of 15 on this track
-
It's a shambles at the start so far tonight
