    Final Gp, From Germany

For the 100th GP i thought it was dreadful. Track was a disgrace. As soon as you moved off line end of story [ except for Holta in the one decent outside pass ] When even Gollob can't do it then ?........ So to sum up. Congratulations AJ, wanted Hancock to win it but had a feeling before the final he would be second. Holta earned his place next year, riding in pain, won the run off fair and square, unlike dirty Nicholls, one rider who's done NOTHING to earn a place next year, show me why he should be in [ on merit ] Nice to see Nicki Pedersen taking the time to wave to all the fans after he went out of the semi. Hope Crump is back next year and Gollob, Hancock and Harris [ if he's in ] all have a great GP year.

I read the posts on here about the obvious tragedy and Bob C summed it up perfectly before we knew a baby girl hed been killed, then the following comments from Islanders fans who had a nightmare 12 hours wasted but put it into perspective and then low and behold you get this post from Chris the forum number one pratt. What a dik.

Just watched the meeting on tape. Like two separate meetings at two different venues. The first 5 heats were absolutely shocking, embarrassing to watch, god forbid anyone tuning into speedway for the first time. When the track was worked on i thought the racing was quite good. If Buster Chapman held his hands up and said it was his fault, then credit to him. How many other promoters would have done this ? Think about it, would yours ? One thing i am disappointed about is the line up. No disrespect but i dont expect to see ANY Premier League riders in the Elite League Riders Championship. So will the track reserves for the PLRC at Swindon be Charlie Gjedde and Andrew Moore then ? Only in Speedway. Only ten teams in the EL but no Belle Vue rider, why was Screen absent ?, excuse me if he's injured but why wasn't he replaced by the next Aces rider in the averages. The credibility of this meeting needs bringing back, it's supposed to be a blue riband event. P.S Floppy's comment after heat 5 i think ? About watching it and it ' feels like i've got a concussion !', cracked me up, this guys the best thing about the Sky commentary.

    Latvian Speedway Grand Prix 2007

Some observations on tonight. 1,Eastern European women are so damn hot looking 2,The camera'persons' are happy to show the attractive ladies in the crowd, unlike in this uptight politically correct western european country 3,Nicki P would be prepared to run over somebody [ maybe even his granny ] to get where he wants to 4,Maybe the track prep was a bit iffy,a tad dry the track, but it produced some good racing, can't say that about some GP tracks such as Prague 5,Not exactly a Hans Andersen fan, but hope he's ok tonight. Two very nasty looking bangs on the head and it looked liked he had some double vision or eye problems in the pits after his last race. 6,Air fence did it's job again tonight too, the sooner they are installed at every track the better for everyone 7,Nicki P has it sewn up now barring some bad luck
  8. Great post Mr.Clemens. I have a friend who was gutted he couldn't be there last night but i hope you don't mind i have printed your post off and will put it inside the programme i got for him, i'm sure he'll appreciate getting some of the atmosphere of the night.Thank you. Yes, one thing i didnt realise beforehand about last night was the way in which it brought so many people together. When ever i hear the latest terrible news on the radio about the latest shooting somewhere i want to think about the goodness in people we saw last night. I know it's sad the reasons we were there i mean the circumstances for which we were all supporting Garry, but yes he was amazing. I actually had a camera and wanted a picture but didn't want to impose on him too much, i was chuffed he signed mine and my friends programmes. As others have said, his attitude and spirit is amazing and strong and a lesson to us all.I'm so glad he wants to stay involved in speedway in some capacity. He's too much of a gem for speedway to lose, and last night showed he will always have the support and friendship of thousands of fans. Even if we were there because of the dark side of the sport, last night showed speedway's good side......and the reason we all love this sport so much.
  9. Sorry, where exactly have you read this ? I have just checked the Brummies web site and there is no mention of this in the ' latest injury update ' report on Emilliano. Gutted for him if it's true, he's been a great entertaining rider this year, hope he's feeling better soon
  10. Brilliant pass by Compo in the Final to win it, how he reeled Freddie in by 10 or 15 yards over the last few bends was amazing. But the only true highlight of the evening for me was meeting Garry, asking him to sign my programme [ which he kindly did for everyone ] and then shaking his hand and wishing him all the best for the future. It was a privilege. I hope loads is raised in the e-bay auctions too.

    Prague

If i was looking to go to a GP next year Seb it would have to be Leszno. Wide,a bit of banking and a track you can race side by side on.

Bet any new viewers were confused if they noticed the Norwegian flag on the graphics when they interviewed him and the Polish flag on the graphics when they gave the race results

Think this says a hell of a lot. I can't blame your friend because if that was my first taste of Speedway i'd probably not bother again. When Speedway is good and track prep is excellent we get meetings like in the recent World Cup, all too often recently especially in the GP's for some reason the tracks have been poor or downright dangerous. Now, heads out of the sand time.......why isn't speedway catching on or delivering the crowd figures we thought it would and should after all the Sky tv interest ?????? Too many Pragues ?????? p.s And one other footnote we can't blame a temporary track here. If it was a man made temp track everyone would say that was the reason for the ruts and track cutting up. I think it comes down to someone didnt do their job right, but who, Olsen, track staff ??? Guess we'll never find out and we'll all just carry on.

Ok sorry Iris i didnt know you meant about the other thread, my bad ! Rob sorry i have to disagree,if there hadnt been deep ruts he wouldn't have crashed. In the interview his mechanic almost said the track was a disgrace but held back from it. Theres plenty of people on here doing that now anyway. Now people will say ' his bike is set up too stiff ' because they heard Billy and Sam say it, but the fact is that track played a MASSIVE part in his crash. I just cant abide watching speedway trying to be played out on tracks that have no right to be called race tracks.

To be totally honest i couldn't care less WHO won the meeting because it was THAT BAD. By about Heat 10 i was just wishing it would end. I couldn't even get bothered by the fact we had a Brit in the final. I think there should be serious questions asked by the authorities why we had such a diabolical track which no mistake about it caused the broken shoulder to Andreas Jonsson. I would go so far as to say they shouldnt even have a GP at Prague next year. To the Nicki Pedersen fans like Iris asking why we are not saying ' well done !!! ' enough, well i think plenty of people are, BUT it also goes to show that some people will put up with any crock of $*!t as long as their man wins. Sorry thats not speedway for me.
