Poole Pirates Vs Coventry Bees 21/5/2014
Hodgy replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Thanks for the heat 4 reminder. Apologies maths not my strong point so will need 1,000002 assistance. I was only considering a single TS (that sounds worse than intended). Surely you can't confirm the result of a race before it's run, only the permutations on offer. Whatever the maths, double points is is not marketable - it's up there with wrestling, difference being we hope to be taken seriously. -

As I recall, you couldn't use the TS until after heat 6. To which a team could be 24 pts behind before you can attempt to pull 4 back. With the TR you can gain 7 as soon as 10 behind. How can that not be more advantageous? Maybe I've missed something. -

It's just not right to nominate a rider to score double because they are being fairly beaten, that's always been the complaint. The TS would still penalise a team for winning but is far more credible than 6 points for the win, because you are losing. As others state, when it's works for your team you take it (as I did in 2006), when it's against you it's a jokeĀ®. None of us like it in the WTC but that's TS and TR. We all like a close meeting but double points - it's a knockout!!! Why should teams / riders give up if a meeting is beyond them? What do points make? I would guess many of today's riders are motivated by their pay packet rather than the teams success. Make them earn it. I know, here we go again. Well done Coventry for taking advantage of the rules. -
But none asking to support a family reunion in Poland. Try asking your work colleagues to contribute to this collection. It's very different.

Doyle has tweeted pics of his shark attack injuries, couple of deep wounds all now mended. Could have been so much worse. Entertaining meeting apart from the oh so embarrassing commentary, dumb and dumber have got to go.
-
Thought I heard useless commentators mention attendance of 5,000. Then again wouldn't be the first time they got it wrong.

I went to the scrap yard and requested a wing mirror for a skoda - they thought it a fair swap 😄😄

Chris Bomber Harris Performances
Hodgy replied to ghostie's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Would KK have won on Harris's bike? Very doubtful in my opinion. Of course you need ability but like that boring F1 it's about engine performance and set up. -
Which Team Will Be The First To Drop A Draft Pick ?

Well it doesn't matter if true or not. Your minds made up and it hasn't happened, yet! -
Which Team Will Be The First To Drop A Draft Pick ?

Maybe it will be Smart's decision - can't imagine he's enjoying it. -
Poole V Coventry 14/4/14 Ela Sky Meeting.
Hodgy replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Let's not get too carried away, Newman only beat KH and the reserves. FYI - Newman is older and been riding longer than 'old hand' Howarth, who has also progressed much quicker. -
Nice one.

Robert Lambert Mouthing Off In The Star. Oh Dear.
Hodgy replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Are there really that many meetings in Germany? So he throws his toys out the pram because SCB / BSPA won't bend the rules - because he's special. Complains he has to travel afar to get much needed meetings, then when of age declines opportunity of extra meetings, NL, PL, U21's. I've followed his progress for a few years and he does look a talent, as others have before him. Making himself look a tad cocksure. -
Clear. Still think it's finances. The guy can ride a bike, they just never look quick enough.
-
Certainly no intent from Smolinski, unlucky to hit the rut and take off. Thought Woffinden on Gollob in the last 2013 GP was more desperate - but that goes down as a racing incident.
-
It's all about the money money money - in my opinion. I couldn't ever dis Harris after giving me one of my best nights in Speedway. In addition to many other meetings he has entertained, be it at track or on TV. He has proved he has the ability, apart from gating, as many suffer. Just doesn't seem to have fast bikes - I always think that comes down to finances. But hey, have a good laugh, stick in the knife - sure he's feeling great about it. At least he wants to give it a go. There are ways to voice an opinion.
-
It's not his job at all (and hope we never have to hear him again, cringeworthy). In these PC times we now live in I'd be surprised if he's not sacked after some of those comments. You must have had the sound down. It doesn't bother me, he is probably only saying what many of us are thinking but we wont offend anyone with our thoughts 😜😝😛

Peterborough V Rye House 18 March Challenge
Hodgy replied to Vincent Vega's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Nothing against RH or Bunyan, can understand his situation. Unlike Ward and Oik he doesn't need to prepare for Poland and Sweden etc... but I do get fed up with how few meetings consist of full line ups. R/R and guests will be in abundance this season. 👎 -

My understanding is as he spends the winter in NZ, staying until after GP. I can understand that but still no need for R/R surely. -

If you get there early enough you might get your car cleaned 😂😂😂 -
The last 4 British World Champions all came up through the PL. A former PL rider has finished on the rostrum for the last 14 years bar 2011. The majority of next seasons EL riders started in the PL. The price delta between the 2 leagues isn't a result of a less valued PL product. I have said all along the draft system should have started at PL level, like the 3 2 1 idea - but you can hardly blame them for not wanting to follow a group renowned for rash decisions and 'cock ups'. Would you volunteer to jump aboard a sinking ship. Would be great if they all worked together but too many have their own personal agenda. Until that changes.......
-
No not what I'm saying at all. No disservice intended.
-
Completely different situation. Sheffield would have been far too weak 😉
-
Faced an unexpected situation = encountered. If Sheffield's future wasn't so uncertain at the time of the draft picks this situation may have been avoided. Which riders declined a place that were in exactly the same position?
