What about Mark Wynter-or did he sing "Venus in Blue Jeans"??
-
Well this just proves my point-Savalas Clouting is also living forever on this site-didn't he famously beat Ray Wilson at Long Eaton in 1965-I think Rim Malskaitis finished third. Thanks Norbold for bringing his name forward again-perhaps you can update us on his current whereabouts.

No

After I heard of Vladimir Paznikov's death I mentioned that I was aware of only 2 World Finalists(not riders just talking about World Finalists-[i'm thinking of the one-off World Finals here which I wish were still around]) who had committed suicide- besides VP (if true) I could only think of Kenny Carter, I sadly had forgotten Billy Sanders-so I reckon just 3 WF'ists had died this way. I honestly can't think of any others-so is 3 the number all you speedway historians out there.

Graham Miles will live forever on this site!!
-
Wasn't it Graham Miles??
-
Starghost do u know what year he died??
-
OK that's right-name another!!
-
Like who??-can't think of any offhand e.g. Eddie Jancarz was murdered by his wife.
-
Anybody know how old he was-this is ghoulish I know, but I can think of only one other World Finalist who committed suicide if indeed VP killed himself- and that's Kenny Carter
-
Recall Jim's buddy Gordon Guasco-I think they both started at Sunderland in 64 and went to Wolves when the Saints closed down
-
Definitely Airey
-
Blimey-that's a name from the past-George Glen struck me as a salt of the earth type speedway rider-recall him riding for the Diamonds in the early sixties.Everybody who knew him liked him- a fatherly sort. Please tell George's son that he is still remembered with affection even as far away as Canada and that he should be proud of his old man!!!!

Would be interested in reading this book, do you know where I could order it from.??
-
Hi Tony, do subscriptions to Vintage Speedway automatically carry over into the new mag.Looking forward to receiving it as my period of interest is the fifties and sixties. By the way greatly enjoyed your Kenny Carter book after all the fuss I made about it on this website.Mea culpa and keep up the good work.

Recall Eric??-was in the first ever BL race I think for CH.Anybody know how he is these days??
-
George Wilks was a mainstay of Wembley in the glory years-tended to think of him and Bill Gilbert in the same context(altho I think Bill got to the World Final once)-a thread on another site about Bill got me thinking about George-anyone remember him, have details on his career and is he still alive(I presume no).Over to you Norbold and other members of forumland.

Re porkies-or like Hillary Clinton being under sniper fire in Bosnia, or like Cherie Blair coming from a poor background in Liverpool!!
-
I thought that both Gerald Pugh and Hugh Geddes had passed away-but I've been wrong before!
-
Surely Ken Adams has passed away-and surely someone must know re Cyril Roger-he must be in his mid eighties now.
-
I thought of Rick France-I recall the 1967 World Final where he got to-did he have an accident later then??
-
Is Reg Reeves still alive??
-
Good for Bob-he proves 60 is the new 40!!!

A post on the thread of F riders by FASTGATER mentioned that Cyril Francis was in the first race he had ever seen, got me thinking of this. The first race I ever saw was at Newport in 1964(Sat 13th June) heat one Southern League v. Long Eaton. It was a 5-1 to Newport, Alby Golden won it and broke the track record finishing ahead of Jon Erskine, Ken Adams and John Mills. I kept the program all these years which is how I know-anybody else have similar memories??
