  1. Wolves will be one of the favourites mainly due to Lindgren still having a low average so the team can be built strength in depth.

Assuming Lindgren has a good year like last season and not like the previous one. I do agree though, the Wolves team(s) suggested on here do look good.

  2. Is this sort of team still going to be 17/18 quid to watch surely not.

It is obvious this is going to be the case for many teams next season as the discussions and outcomes of the AGM means that we will have promotions needing to charge to these admission prices with considerably lower outgoings to be viable so it was always going to inevitable.

Jonsson confirmed he isn't doing Britain next season.

I think he confirmed that before the end of the last season.

  3.

I get what you're saying but it's really not something that is up for debate. Either they come together and put the time and money in to the right places, or this trend of cutting costs and dropping attendances will go on year after year.

Sorry to be pedantic but unless you specify this comment then I can only concur that you have no idea either on how to increase the attendances.

Sorry for hijacking the thread Swindon supporters!

  4.

What? It doesn't contradict my last post at all. Your question was will Poole go bankrupt then? No, they have far better support than Swindon, there won't be enough clubs left for them to compete with before they go bankrupt.

Maybe I should offer to run BV or Leicester? Why? I'm not a promoter! But ask yourself this... when was the last time you came across speedway outside of the speedway world? When was the last time you saw speedway out and about in public, on the internet, on the television, in a capacity other than you directly attending?

The time for excuses is over. The promoters had a choice; either come together and forge a plan for the future, or continue to cut costs and line their own pockets. They made their choice and it will soon be beyond repair.

In fairness Swindon for the past few months have been a various events around the town, been into the local college etc. The new promotions are trying to push it in the town!

Coventry also promote well within some schools, a stand at the Motorcycle Live at the NEC, taking bikes and riders to various places like ToysRus! Trouble is, it doesn't seem to make that much difference to getting new support some maybe the promoters decided they had no choice. It is very easy to pontificate when it isn't your money that is at stake.

What I would like to see is Promoters/Management/riders having meetings with existing supporters to see how new supporters can be brought in. Current supporters are more likely to get some success with this approach.

  5. Really?

Can I visage 10 grown men sat in circle saying 'Oh and onto the next case, case 243 of this long day is the so called average of Adam Ellis. Shall we start the voting at say 3. Oh that's 3, I hear from Poole, oh we have 5 points from Belle Vue and Kings Lynn, oh raised to a proper EL average of 7.80 from Swindon, Wolves and Coventry, do I have any more bids?'.

I would love to know how they vote (including the FIM and there wildcard selections every year but for once they got it right) each year on these matters.

I am only going on what Skidder was it, posted to be honest.

    .........so you don't know!

  6. Anyway, coming back to the point highlighted above, it would be really interesting to know the team that argued the point on Ellis average and if it was just 'one' team that complained, why didn't democracy overrule this with the other promoters.

That 'one' promotion at the AGM may have just hindered a future British GP star.

How do you know a vote was not taken on the matter?!

  7.

Thank God it wasn't as that would of really made a mockery of the rules, I really don't understand the issue? He has a true average that's being used that was obtained from the main body of the team in the EL, If he got a reduction it would open up the floodgates

..............but only one EL club argued vociferously against it - I wonder who that was??).

  8. Just to be clear Matt Ford has said its 'unlikely' that Adam Ellis can be fitted in to Poole's 1-7 (despite him arguing that Adam's average should be calculated differently at the AGM due to him not riding PL. One EL club argued vociferously against it - I wonder who that was??).

Karma; "People who create their own drama, deserve their own karma"!!

  9. So you were, Hansen is a confidence rider. Get him on a good day and he can and will beat anyone. On a bad day and I rate my chances against him. I like him but don't think there much more to come from him. A slightly classier Woryna.

Good day or bad day, he won't sign for Mick Horton.

  10. Holder has gone. Not in Poole team for 2017.

Matt looking for strength in depth with decent reserves, although one will probably be a 3.

Andersen to lead the team, with Jack Holder, Kyle Newman, Brady Kurtz. Plus a 3 pointer.

I do hope Ellis gets himself picked up. Rye House could be a good bet. Don't hang around Adam get on the phone to promoters straight away.

Is that confirmed yet? I thought Skidder said both Holders were signed up!

  11. Well I really sincerely hope the revamps announced at the AGM help to see a change in the fortunes of speedway in the UK. I probably won't be popular saying this but I really don't envy being a promoter and I do have a lot of sympathy with most of them. It must be very difficult getting a successful format to make sure that financially you can get through the season. You only have to look at all the differing views on the forum to see that it is nigh on impossible to please everyone. As supporters, if we want to ensure the sports recovers and thrives we have got to get behind our respective teams and support them rather than constantly moaning. We also need try to bring in new supporters. I know many will say this is the role of promoters which is correct but they need our help and we can make a huge difference in getting more people in through the turnstiles.

    Here's to the 2017 season!

    Well said mate.

  12. VOR?

Fact, one in ten dairy farms have shut in the UK in the past three years.

My facts are also based on actually talking to farmers,do you?

As I already said most farmers are not rich land owners but are tenants who are seriously struggling to make a living.

Your small minded view of them all being rich land owning gentry is so stereo typical.

Welcome to the world of manufacturing where in the main, companies have to compete globally to win business! What makes farmers a special case that they should receive subsidies whether it be from the EU or the British government?

  13. Well I can only report what they stated, it may be exaggerated but a lot voted out for that reason .

I remember on Countryfile a few days after the vote they had a farmer who on the day of the vote had received and showed about a thirty page document he had to complete for some department in Brussels, yet he was not in any chain where the end product ended up in the eu. In or out of any chan to the eu, like any govt, every farmer has to comply with filling out the paperwork.

Anyway with the drop in the value of the £, unless you are importing raw materials which will add to the cost of production, if you can, take advantage of the lower prices when selling abroad.

Many are taking advantage of the present situation and doing very well.

I think farmers are a different situation as they receive subsidies from the EU A Orlov, we do not in manufacturing. It will be interesting when the subsidies stop as I am sure the farming industry will expect the government to give them the same level of subsidy which will beg the question, why can't manufacturing receive a similar subsidy!! I have already been in contact with my local MP over this and will be lobbying him.

Exchange rate has gone against us as we invoice in sterling but all our steel and castings come from overseas and so prices has risen dramatically. Also transport costs have gone up too. Got any ideas how we can take advantage of this situation?

  14. Sorry, but I think this totally exaggerated and leaving the EU will not change the redtape as the British government will not remove it anyway. We export to Germany (work that is now at risk) and although no VAT is charged as we are a member, we have to keep reams of paperwork including the carrier, reg no's of the trucks would you believe to prove the consignments are leaving the UK. The German customer tells me they have to do this when export to the UK!!!

What will happen to VAT when we leave? Sounds like it will be a nightmare!!!
