    Workington 2018 .

Workington 1. Nicolai Klindt (7.51) 2. Ty Proctor (7.15) 3. T. Jorgensen (7.10) 4. Dan Bewley (5.80) 5. L. Lindgren (7.21) 6. Mason Campton (5.73) 7. Kyle Bickley (2.00) Total: 26.19 Remaining: 16.31 = TOTAL 42.50 This i believe would be a hell of a side both home and away, once all the guys get dialed in. Nicolai may not be a number one, but i wouldn't expect him to be once Ty and Thomas return for their second season at Derwent Park. The potential of keeping either Mason, Dan or Nicolia at reserve all season will bring home points both home and away. *Please lets all be positive and look at the potential team and more importantly at least another season of speedway at Workington, instead of speculating what may have been said to who and what they may be thinking.

    Workington 2018 .

Now with Dan's reduction, this gives us another 0.15 on top of the 7.97 = 8.12. We have another option to fill the remaining berth with E. Riss on 8.05. (If we decide to recruit from one of last years Championship teams).

    Workington V Glasgow 23/9/17

Mason didn't make Worrall look stupid and childish. Worrall made himself look stupid and childish by the way he reacted.....
  12. I would like to start by stating i do not like writing posts like this and some will say why write them, but it was obvious by Sargent's display tonight he made no effort to race in his early races and approached the meeting with the attitude to do what most who attended tonight believe was a deliberate act to manipulate his average or go all out in what seems to be his vendetta against Workington. For a home rider to turn a home crowd against them like he has, is the first i have ever witnessed at Derwent Park. It absurd that any governing body of any sport can allow this to happen and potentially contribute to the demise of any club, due to the club not being able to make the necessary changes to try and remedy the situation, it has been forced into by the rules of our sport. I admit some people may believe these are strong words and not the backing any rider deserves, but if there was a facility to make a change i am sure those who have witnessed his displays most weeks, would agree he should be replaced. If the Workington promotion had the facility to do so and they didn't react, those people who disagree with my post would probably be the first to criticise the club for not doing so. The promotion clearly tried to make the necessary changes early season to strengthen the team, but unfortunately this did not pan out as they deserved, due to rumors i believe which did not come to fruition. This is clearly not the motivation any rider deserves and like i said i do not enjoy writing it, but when you consider James's display tonight and previous comments he has publicly made, combined with the recent crowd attendances, how can Laura financially commit to the future of Workington Speedway with this dwindling lack of support.
  13. Reflecting on how both the Premiership and Championship leagues seem to be running in 2017, with predominantly a lack of Premiership (elite) league riders, combined with fixture back logs for many clubs and a high number of riders doubling up making it more difficult to arrange fixtures and leading to a greater need of guest riders or R/R. But more worryingly supporters dwindling to the point where clubs are at risk of folding. Then surely the BSPA need to take a long hard look at how the sport can survive. My thoughts are: Switching to a fixed night could possibly work. (Proven in Sweden, Poland, and Denmark). Create only one league. Have a North-South divide for the first part of the season, then the top 4 from each divide compete in a play off, for the league title. The lower teams could then compete for something similar to what used to be called, the Young Shield. This could potentially keep supporters attending meetings in the later part of the season, particularly if their team are not performing so well. This would be due to the influx of new teams/riders and would be similar to starting the season again. Remember these are just my thoughts and yes no doubt the punctuation police will be out in force, but seriously something needs to be done if we want to continue watching the sport we love. Would be interesting to hear other supporters views and you never know the powers that be, may read these and take on board the supporters views and implement them for the 2018 season.

    Speedway 2018

Loads of chat about what should be charged for admission. But unfortunately i don't believe lowering prices to what some believe will rejuvenate the sport is the answer. That's probably the one thing the BSPA don't control lol. The individual clubs running costs dictate this and many clubs probably still run at a loss. What the BSPA do have control of, is the infrastructure of the sport and that's where i believe there needs to be a radical restructure of the sport, should we wish it continue. Its impossible to find a solution to solve all problems in one winter conference and i am not admitting i know the answers, but i think everyone will agree over the last few years speedway supporters have declined, to a point where clubs are at risk of folding. So lets try something totally different and construct a plan for the future of British Speedway.

    Speedway 2018

My thoughts are there is 18 teams in both the Premiership and Championship. Southern: Somerset, Swindon, Ipswich, Kings Lynn, Wolves, Peterborough, Poole, Leicester, and Rye House would compete in the Southern half. Northern: Glasgow, Edinburgh, Berwick, Newcastle, Workington, Redcar, Scunthorpe, Belle Vue, and Sheffield would compete in the Northern half. Number of riders could be an issue, but if the average for team building was raised slightly this could possibly accommodate more riders (possibly not as well). Yes costs also would increase with this, but that would have to be a calculated business decision which hopefully would prove a success. Please remember something has to be done quick, as speedway supporters at the moment are rapidly dwindling and so will the sport if a remedy cannot be found soon.
  16. The Comets seem to be beaten before they even go to the tapes when away. They seem to lack confidence and don't carry any form away from Derwent Park, which is very confusing considering the caliber of riders they have...

    Bspa Meeting With Ukv&i?

So I assume British speedway is to blame then??????

    Bspa Meeting With Ukv&i?

I admit they probably are and my status was probably a flippant one, but there are also other sports like Rugby League that do seem to have a high southern hemisphere contingent that people, that are participating in sport in our country.....

    Bspa Meeting With Ukv&i?

This situation could only happen in BRITISH Speedway! To wait until this late in the preparation of the 2015 season is quite unbelievable. Lets remember these guys who are affected are not just speedway riders, they are also human beings who have invested probably thousands of pounds into equipment for the 2015 season. I don't particularly blame British speedway (however I may be wrong), but I do blame the system and the people who seem to be able to make decisions, that have a detrimental affect on the future of our sport and the lives of those affected (not that it seems to effects football). With little over two months to the start of the 2015 season and team building more or less complete, how can this be allowed to happen now????
  20. What's the date for the 2015 general meeting? What's your views guys on how we could improve British Speedway?

    Workington 2015

I think we may see Rusty back next season. Going off this seasons performances I think it maybe be a good idea....
  23. The Comets were on song. Track superb and plenty of grip considering the weather. Where do we start with next years team building. Plenty to ponder guys, what ye thinking?????
  24. Unfortunately your damned if you do and your damned if you don't. This season if Workington didn't have any bad luck, then they wouldn't have had any luck.
