Lee was fantastic tonight and with his presence in the pits at peterborough on monday has shown himself to be the true professional. Top marks Rico!

Swc - The Race Off
Robin Bert replied to Sandie's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I haven't read all of the thread and apologies for any drunken ramblings but here goes.... Very proud of the British riders tonight, I thought they could make a fight of it and so it proved, I was properly gutted at the end because we came so close to making the final. Bridger and King found it tough but that was to be expected. Rico was nothing short of fantastic, Bomber gave it everything but just didn't have the speed and Tai was in the thick of the action and got some very important points on the board. I was very critical of Rob Lyon's team selection for peterborough but looking at it now I think he was spot on, the experience the younger riders have gained from this will be invaluable and all of them have shown what they are capable of at some point. We were discussing tonight what difference Scott Nicholls would have made and it's fair to say we would have got through with him in the side. The thing is though he has had his chance before and not performed. Rob Lyon took a bold step for this world cup and I honestly think that Team GB will benefit from it next year and beyond. I went through the mill tonight watching this GB team against the odds take it to heat 25 to decide who progressed into the final. There aren't many sports that can serve up the drama we saw tonight and it was absolutely captivating, well done to all the GB riders, I am very proud of you right now. -
Swc Race-off
Robin Bert replied to Danish Webmaster's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Should be a walk in the park for the Aussies IMO, but 2nd spot is really up for grabs and I think GB do have a chance (albeit a slim one), as although both Denmark and Sweden have world class riders in their ranks, they also have riders who could find things tough at Leszno. For that reason Rico has to come in because he has performed well in Poland this year and has the speed required round the big Polish tracks. If he can have a good night and gets some decent back-up from the rest of the team we can definitely make a fight of it and with a bit of luck who knows?! Whatever happens I just hope the track is well prepared with a bit of grip (Ole stay in the stands please) and we get another fantastic speedway meeting like Monday. Come on GB!! -
Swc Event 2, Peterborough 13.7.
Robin Bert replied to tomazpozrl's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Fantastic meeting, so many great races and Crump vs Zagar was amazing stuff! Very impressed with the Poles, they all seem to step up a gear when riding for their country. I really though Australia would win easy tonight but they will be ok in the race-off, the other spot in the final is up for grabs though with the Danes weakened. I think the British boys did us proud in that company, especially King, I didn't want him in the team but he was probably our best rider tonight. Kennett struggled for pace and therefore he should make way for Rico on Thursday. Wouldn't change anyone else, they deserve to have another shot. -
Elite League Pairs 08/08
Robin Bert replied to woofers's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
If the date stays the same I very much doubt we could hold it as there is dog racing at the Abbey on a Saturday night. In a way I hope it doesn't come back to Swindon because when Leigh & Matej win it no-one can say it was down to home track advantage! -
Millenium Stadium Or Wembley Stadium ?
Robin Bert replied to zonkers's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
As a stadium I prefer Wembley, it is head and shoulders above Cardiff for the wow-factor, but as a speedway gp venue it has to be Cardiff everytime, it has a roof for starters so the meeting could never be rained off, for such a large stadium you feel very close to the action and the concentration of fans creates an amazing atmosphere. On top of that you have all the pubs around and after 9 years it just feels like the home of speedway, how could you possibly move it away. -
2009 Fim Speedway Challenge - The Ballots For The Semi-finals
Robin Bert replied to tomazpozrl's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Can't beleive Zagar didn't make it through the way he is riding at the moment, good to see Pavlic and Miedzinski in the final though, would like to see them qualify with Holder, get some young and exciting riders in the GP next year. -
Looking forward to seeing Miedzinski, would be nice if we could get him back in the Swindon team if Pavlic is done for the season.
-
I would love it to be Leigh Adams, but my money will be on Crumpy and I think he will be joined in the final by Hancock, Pedersen & Sayfutdinov.

Cardiff The Greatest Show Earth
Robin Bert replied to willstaxi's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I absolutely love everything about Cardiff, it's definitely one of the highlights of my year! Not just the meeting, but the whole day, there is such a great atmosphere around Cardiff, I particularly like the sound of the air horns going off in the street. Then there's the added bonus of the Prince of Wales, which has to be one of my favourite ever pubs. The stadium never fails to amaze me every time and the whole spectacle really is something very special. As speedway fans we can feel very proud of our sport for one night which makes a nice change at the moment! Roll on Saturday! -
Parking At The Millennium Stadium
Robin Bert replied to paulboy's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
We always park on North Road (A470), there is a long narrow car park about a 20-30 minute walk from the Stadium, on the right hand side as you enter Cardiff. It's adjacent to Bute Park. Usually arrive about 11.30 and there are plenty of spaces, it's also easy to get away afterwards, although we leave immediately after the last race to beat the worst of the traffic. This year because of the earlier start time we are going by train (from Swindon), so that will be one more space up for grabs! -

Elite League Riders Pairs

The way Pedersen was going at Swindon on Thursday night I really can't see beyond Poole winning this, hopefully Leigh & Seba will make the semi's but can't see us going any further.
