What one of those cock-sure, cheating, glory-hunting, smug, fackin' saverners? Might be, but then again Darcy Ward might be a reformed character...

Ah - those two years must have been the glory days then...

Don't you think 'glory days' and 'amazing' in relation to the BSF is 'slightly' over-egging things a bit...?

Definitely walked through plenty of thick tw@ts and a few thin skinny runts on the terraces over the last 40 years or so - if that's what you mean...

Maybe all the singing has been due to all the winning over the last few years - intensely annoying, but not unjustified. All about to change this season, though...

    Not better than Coventry, though
  12. Nothing like a bit of added 'fuel' to the Harris - Nicholls feud teehee... From Speedway GP site: Nicholls was pleased to see Woffinden rewarded for his impressive progress at home and abroad. But he admits he was surprised to see Harris receive another chance in the SGP series, after the Coventry man finished 14th last season. He said: “Personally, I think Tai and Lee Richardson should have been given wild cards. “Lee hasn’t been in it for a while and he has been in pretty good form everywhere. His scores in Sweden and Poland are better than mine and Chris’ and his British form is good. “I was surprised Bomber got the nod over Lee. That’s just my personal opinion – I was surprised Lee didn’t get a wild card and he deserved one most out of all the British riders.”
  13. Thank gawd for that - someone else who refuses to be blinded by the sun that seems to shine from a certain location other than in the sky. Quite frankly I've not been impressed by this alleged ongoing spat between the pair of them, but I was SERIOUSLY unimpressed with the childish umprofessional 'playground-like' almost name-calling on a public radio programme by one Mr Harris. Time to grow up now. I'm not party to what happens or is said in the pits or who does or does not get on with who. However, I will ask one question. If Nicholls was so roundly disliked at Coventry by his team mates, how did they manage to 'put asside their differences' so well to allow them to pull together so completely to wipe the floor with all opposition in 2007? I may be completely wrong, but that's not the behaviour of a team that hates their skipper so vehemently as has been alleged. However, this is not a Coventry or Harris v Nicholls thread, so back to the subject at hand... I agree with what has been said about Rico not being worthy of a place in the GPs. Equally, reinforcing the delusion that Harris is so wonderful by giving him another go in the GPs when he was so far off the pace helps neither him, the credibility of the GPs or British speedway in general. Until Harris gets a wake up call from not being in the GPs and moved out of his cosy Coventry comfort zone he won't be given the incentive or test of his determination needed to make the changes necessary to progress any further. The GP organisers were derided for continually giving Nicholls a wildcard, but he was never that far down the previous season's scoresheet when they did - so surely now Harris should receive the same 'beggar' status that was harshly bestowed on Nicholls. I also don't believe Tai was either ready for or justified a place either - just yet. There are plenty of other non-Brits ahead in the pecking order. So no Brits in the GPs would be my vote for next year - at least that way we wouldn't give other countries justifiable cause to complain about the special treatment we receive or, worse, to take pity on us for needing a leg up every year. Lets see the Brits get there by rights and restore some credibility.

    One Off World Finals

Wembley 1981 - if only for two awesome races - Olsen vs Penhall and Knudsen vs Penhall
  16. Oh well - we'll just have to start drinking earlier. Guiness with a full full English - a perfect way to start the day...
  17. He may well have been complicit in the decision to call off the GP, but I don't for one minute think this was simply because of another Olsen track cock-up. I think that was just used as an excuse. All the more believeable is that they simply hadn't sold enough tickets for the 'show-piece' and wanted to dump the whole thing because it would have been a fiasco had they gone ahead with it!

A Track I Wish I Could Have Visited

I can't really add any tracks that I haven't been to, but there are a few tracks that I went to as a 'nipper' that no longer exist and of which I have vague but good memories of. It would be great to go back in time and re-visit them - most notably: - Leicester - Cradley Heath - Halifax - Hackney I also remember walking round a long-track somewhere in the Uk when I was on holiday at the end of the 70's. I'm not sure if it ever got used, but I remember thinking it looked very impressive compared to a 'normal' speedway track and I would have loved to have seen some racing on it. I wish I could remember where it was. I know we had holidays at Lowestoft, Eastbourne and Looe around that time. Does anyone know of a long track that might have existed then?
  19. So does that mean a World Cup qualifier at Coventry again?! I know it only says GB (TBC) at the moment, but from what I understood Coventry was the only FIM rated stadium in the UK at the moment. If it is, I'm not sure I could cope with the same GB torture we had this year!!
  20. You'd never see him out on the piss the night before a GP would you?!!!
  21. Maybe a spell at Ivan Mauger's training camp listening to the old maestro about how to ride a speedway bike and get out of the gate could be a good use of their time!! Mauger wasn't a natural, but he learnt how to do it.
  22. Oh probably - just not really worth the effort
  23. Sub you really are boring - put another bloody record on man!
  24. These days there is no such thing as a 'normal' Coventry track - its different every week! So why on earth did ALL of team GB seem to turn up with machines set up for a particular 'version' of the Coventry track, which clearly bore no resemblance to that which was served up last night. For heaven's sake, it is different every week and then there's the 'Olsen factor' thrown in for good measure too. The other three countries clearly did not come with that same fixation and adapted superbly. [This seems to be a Bees problem as well - hence having to play catch up in meetings when the riders have figured out what the track's actually like that week.] Team GB are much better than the performance shown last night (despite what some people want to say about them). For every member of the team to seemingly be afflicted with the same problems, it suggests a more fundamental problem with set-ups, preparation, etc. I can imagine one of the team having a problem due to being off form, etc - but not the whole team. So what is it that the other countries did much better than Team GB to get themselves ready for the meeting? There must be some lessons to learn.
  25. Some great photo's Sandie, I'm not going to say who looked the funnniest .... What a great afternoon with a lovely atmosphere, lots of happy smiley faces and people having fun... It was great having the presentation back again, so many commented on how much it is missed, it really adds to a meeting. So Allen can we have it back please? Oh and can we swap Yorkie for that Aussie Bloke ? Ta....
