    Brandon Update

SAVE COVENTRY SPEEDWAY MEDIA INFORMATION E-mail: pressoffice@savecoventryspeedway.com THE Planning Inquiry hearing into Brandon Stadium gets underway on Tuesday September 19. This follows on from the decision of Rugby Borough Council's Planning Committee last November, in which they unanimously refused the Brandon Estates planning application. The developers then appealed that decision, and the inquiry will now take place over an 8-day period featuring speakers and witnesses from all parties. There will be representatives from Brandon Estates, the Council (as they defend their decision to refuse the application) and from the Save Coventry Speedway & Stox Campaign Group as a Rule 6 party. We will be providing witnesses from both speedway and stock car racing to give evidence on our behalf, and they will also be subject to cross-examination. The process will be detailed and will cover a wide range of topics, and a final decision is not expected until several weeks after the inquiry. However, the proceedings can all be followed via a livestream and we are sure many supporters will wish to make use of this facility. The link for the session on Tuesday September 19 (from 10am) is as below, and subsequent days' streams will be available from the Rugby Borough Council YouTube channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Quacfny1d3c We believe we have prepared thoroughly for this vital inquiry, and we look forward to hearing the evidence from all sides and having the opportunity to state our case in support of the Planning Committee’s original decision.
  2. Had to miss this year's event due to family reasons (the only time that I have not attended a Cardiff GP), but our group of 5 or 6 will definitely be back next year!
  3. Who said he was after the Wild Card? Surely another British Champion title was uppermost in his thoughts. He would then have declined the Wild Card.
  4. The regs actually went against normal FIM procedure where countback (heat Wins etc.) takes precedence, and then who-beat-who.
  5. I'm afraid that is not Ianb's MO. First of all it was Chris Harris daring to have ambition to be a World Champion, whilst being the Captain of Leicester. Then it was Tyre changes. And now Coin Toss. You haven't heard the last of it, believe me!
  6. No, that is the 'Draw' number. No 16 is the Wild Card's race Jacket

    Ashton Boughen

Ashton has been included, as the Reserve, in the GB U19 Pairs squad in Pardubice, along with Sam Hagon and Joe Thompson.

  11. N H Jakobsen replaces Dan Thompson at #3 Matouš Kamenik now takes the #17 Reserve place. Oskar Hurysz (PZM) is the new #18

    Plymouth v Redcar

Simon has passed his final assessment, and is now a Referee. He is on a probationary status where he takes full charge of a meeting with an established Referee (Paul Carrington tonight?) also in attendance, but not necessarily in the Referees box.
  13. Worrall is obviously using last season's race suit.
  14. If you need to be a genius to understand it, just imagine how hard it was to produce a 'user friendly' Spreadsheet for it!
  15. Blimey, that was a quick meeting!

  17. I think you will find that it is the Race Director, Morris, who calls the shots.
  18. There were many matches on ITV. Coventry Cradley always a spicy affair.
  19. Harris & Worrall are in the 8 man squad, so could be used.
  20. Maybe they will once the win is mathematically certain?
  21. All credit to the FIME for producing a format where riders meet all of the others in their 13 Rider group. But the downside of the format means that Seth Norman will not get his first race until race 12, (The two groups feature in alternate races) and two of his group will have already had 3 of their 4 qualifying races.
  22. 33 is not a female rider (Norma Seth), it's Seth Norman.
  23. Max Fricke had also done Heat 13.... He didn't need extra time.
  24. The overall consensus of opinion seems to differ from yours. Iversen only just beat the two minutes exclusion, and then proceeded to ignore the Referee and Start Marshall prompts to be ready to race. How long should he have been given? Another minute..two minutes...?
