Belle Vue V Wolverhampton 06-07-2016
Trevor replied to GregoryM's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
You need to watch racing at the NSS in person to really appreciate it, the closeness to the action and the sense of speed is what strikes you.. -

Belle Vue V Coventry 30th May, 2016
Trevor replied to Aces51's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Superb entertainment today, with a great atmosphere. The two people who sat either side of me both said it was their visit to the NNS, and they both loved it, and will be back. -
My changes would be: End double points, but allow a team 8 points behind choice of gate positions. Fast track riders can only move up to be second strings. Otherwise the actual rule book seems fair enough to me, the sport could be promoted far better etc, but the rules themselves aren't the problem.

Edinburgh Select V Belle Vue Colts (ch) 20/5/16 @7.30pm
Trevor replied to Mr Blobby's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I cannot understand about Joe Lawlor not be allowed to ride because of his age, as he rode for the Colts against the Brummies riding at Number six and gaining 1+1. -
Belle Vue Colts-v- Eastbourne Eagles 13/5/16

Only had two Colts meetings at the NSS, but they have proved to be very entertaining. -
Belle Vue V Swindon 11 May, 2016.

My total guess would be 2,500, fairly full with some gaps in the main stand, but plenty stood in the South Stand and some on bend 1. -

I was there and was disappointed by the gate, but there is an awful lot of confidence to be rebuilt in the club, after the last two months. However the quality of racing, plus the closeness you are to the action(You can almost feel the speed) will in time bring people to a great spectacle. -
Having seen some excellent racing by the Colts tonight, the track is going to produce some amazing races for years to come.

Belle Vue Colts V Mildenhall 6 May 2016
Trevor replied to Aces51's topic in National League Speedway
After Bewley had finished his scheduled four rides and had a maximum, I thought that was it, but no, out twice more, for a reserve replacement and Heat 15. The most impressive home début I have ever seen. -

National league? Quickest answer to a wish ever, this Friday v Mildenhall!! -
Don't know what people are saying about low crowds. Belle Vue are currently averaging 6,000.

Belle Vue Vs King's Lynn May 2nd

The weather forecast was spot on, so the decision was proved right. However the weather is due to improve, is there any chance of Belle Vue rearranging something for next weekend, which is currently blank? -
Belle Vue Colts V Stoke 29 April, 2016.
Trevor replied to Aces51's topic in National League Speedway
Sadly it's off, not surprised it's been an awful weather in Greater Manchester for the last 24 hours. -
Racing to begin this weekend.

The end of the 'Joker' double points.

It would be quite negligent of the council who issued the contract, for it not to include penalty clauses in a situation like this.

Don't know if people can claim on travel insurance if an event is cancelled?

Speedway Champions League ?
Trevor replied to PolskiZuzel's topic in International World of Speedway
I agree Aces in with a good chance of third place. I wish there was TV coverage, presumably because it is a one off event, it is not included in any other contract, so any TV company would be free to run with it? -
Not sure why you can call 'the National Stadium a laughing stock'. If you read the SS article the root cause was a problem with the base beneath the shale. No one can spot that unless you dig down. The stadium is superb and a credit to the Aces and Speedway, when the problem is fixed, will you still be rolling around laughing?

I do think on balance we do need Sky. I for one came back to the sport after a big gap after my interest was awakened by watching on Sky. If we didn't have Sky, we would have no media presence at all, which would be harmful. Who would go to see a sport that is so obscure that no one has heard of it? For at least the trailers for the season and matches give exposure to the sport, making it easier for someone to give it a try. However it does seem ultra cautious on their behalf cancelling their third match of the season! Although I understand why they put back the Belle Vue match and the Wolves match was rained off.
-
They tweeted their coverage was off. They obviously have a no risks policy this season. I cannot remember how many times they got their camera's set up last season only for a rain off or abandoned meeting but it seems a fair few times I recall.

I've often wondered why we Speedway folk talk about four bends on a Speedway track? Clearly there are two straight bits and two bends joining the straight bits together. I know if we say the fourth bend, we all understand but it is a tad daft.

Just turned off the Best Pairs event on Eurosport. Speedway matters when you want someone to win, or at least quite fancy seeing someone lose. But as I couldn't decide between Boll, Nice or Monster, it was pointless.

I have been sympathetic to Tai not riding in the UK, however if he turns his back on the national championship that is an insult to the British fans who have supported him.
