Belle Vue -v Wolves 25-03-16 Good Fiday
Trevor replied to Phil The Ace's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
That fact that that match has not yet been called off is good news. Why do people seem so keen to see it called off? If it is postponed tomorrow, that is far more notice than for most postponements. -

I was there on Saturday night and was also at the Belle Vue v Poole meeting some years ago when with the SKY cameras there and Poole needed the win to get into the play offs so the match was 'raced' on a far worse track than Saturday night. -

Back to my theme of perspective, all of these had disastrous starts but went on to do quite well; Disney World BBC 2 Sir John Gurden (Nobel Prize winner) Heathrow Terminal 5 Alex Ferguson at Man Utd Millennium Dome now O2 I am sure there are many many more. -

There are some of the near hysterical comments on this thread, can we have some perspective? Yes, it is true the management should have postponed the meeting earlier. Yes, it is true the wet weather set the project back Yes, it is true the management should have communicated far earlier what was going on. Yes, it is true the riders could have raced on the straights and bends 1/2, and just ridden round the spongy bits to give the crowd something for their attendance Despite all that, when the track is sorted and bedded in, we will have the best Speedway facility that the country has, and deserves to be considered the National Speedway Stadium. -

I went to the first test event, a week last Thursday and the base was down on the 3rd/4th bends and some of the top layer was being put down as we were in the stadium. So, how long does a track need to bed in? -

Cannot decide whether to be angry with the riders for at least giving it a go, or the promotion for taking the risk. However, no excuse for such a long wait before any information was given and for not being clear about refunds. People near me were asking what about my ticket, what do I do? Such a shame as everything else is so impressive. If some riders were prepared to have a go couldn't they at least have a couple of demonstration races? -
It will be more than a handful of riders and officials when the World Cup is on.

Cannot see any problem with 'top boys' getting work permits it's those who are much lower down on the pecking order who could struggle.
-
I cannot see too much of a problem, as all it will mean that riders from abroad will have to apply for permission to work, but as they wont be seeking residency, shouldn't be an issue. If one or two of the weaker foreign riders struggle to get permission it will at least give some of the younger Brits a ride.

This seems to be troubled times for our sport in New Zealand. I hope the only league in the Southern hemisphere does run fully next year.

I've heard some sort of deal with the Cinema is likely, their car park across the road from the new and old stadium is massive. -
I've been watching over the winter some recordings of Swedish Speedway, I made last Summer. I noticed that they have their averages out of three, in other words average points scored per race. While we in the UK have always had averages per meeting, assuming a four ride meeting. I don't know why we look at it differently but are there advantages at looking at points scored per race as opposed to per meeting?

Exactly how many points have Leicester got left to play with for the last rider?

Excellent idea, well done to those who thought of it, and to those who backed it. Does anyone know the names of any riders going yet? -
Somerset And The Confederate Flag

Forgetting any meanings people wish to add to things, the flag was a striking visual image and the replacement club logo looks naff in comparison. -
It is a step in the right direction from the BSPA, so lets applaud that.

Just a thought. I am a EE mobile phone user, as BT has just bought out EE, any chance that I could now get BT sports?

Based on what we know so far of the teams, who is for the Play Off Final, and who gets the wooden spoon 2016? My Finalists - Belle Vue v Coventry Wooden Spoon - Wolves

I'm enjoying my copy that came in the post, a half year subscription was a most welcome Christmas gift!

https://www.gov.uk/honours/nominate-someone-in-the-uk If you think Tai deserves a CBE or an MBE for his efforts of the last two or three seasons, why not nominate him? Far better chance than getting SPOTY!

Was Harris guesting for Tai, in true Speedway fashion?

Greg Hancock would be a great addition, but it looks a strong field. -
I think the Belle Vue management need congratulating for getting so much right. Top stadium, Top Manager, Top Team?
