  1. Marc has signed for none of the teams as yet, he is still only 14, has plenty of time and still cant sign a full contract until his 16th birthday and thats if he decides he wants a career as a speedway rider.

    Redcar July 12

Does anyone know of the confirmed names for the under 15s at Redcar? For the 500cc and the 250cc.
  3. Please support this meeting for the juniors, Martin Hagon and Eastbourne deserves the support from the public, you can always set your video recorders and he will have sky set up down there. If this is a success, then maybe more meetings will be in the pipeline, we know Lakeside are looking to do one as well and this will only benefit those in the youth speedway in years to come.
  4. Marc would love to be there for the Redcar meetings, as he has some good memories of the track. Please let us know when you have the date for Buxton as we would like to try and get there. Gordon

    250 Speedway

Once I have a list of the 250cc riders I will certainly send you a copy of contact details Yvonne
  6. Calling all 250cc riders. Sittingbourne and Eastbourne are both looking to put on 250cc racing in their second halves and their Academy matches. The dates are yet to be confirmed, but any 250cc riders interested in riding at either or both venues then please send me your contact details. When we have confirmed numbers, we will be able to confirm dates with the venues and yourselves. If we have enough riders then we may need alternate who rides on what dates so EVERYONE gets the chance to ride. Dale Allitt, the Boston promotor, and some of the other clubs have also expressed some interest in the 250cc riders. We would like to pass the contact information onto any promoter that asks. If you dont want your contact details passed on then please let me know at any time. The more riders that we get from all around the country, the more we will be able to ask promotors in your area for a chance of second half ride. Please can you either email me your name, address and a contact telephone number or phone me evenings leaving a contact name, number and email address if possible. Contact details are email; yvonne.owen@hotmail.co.uk Telephone number is; 07912614530. Yvonne
  7. You are right Marc does come from Brighton, on the south coast. He is going on a 500cc later this year and he will be 14 at the end of August next year and Colin offered him an academy place if Marc would like it. As you are such a friendly bunch up there of course he would then like to ride for you and he wont let you down. Its only a thousand mile round trip! Small world really.
  8. Topcat, It was a great privalige to have been invited up to the Golden Helmet meeting. Marc one day hopes to compete in the main event. Marc hopes to be riding in a Glasgow academy jacket next year. Thankyou once again for Dale, Andy, Margaret, Donna, Mark and Jemma Lamb for putting up with us. Also to Gina and Lyndsay for putting up Brendon and family. We can only apologies for the lack of one rider, we were waiting for him to arrive right up til the parade. Scunthorpe was obviously a bigger draw!!!
  9. we to feel greived about the under 15s, either by not receiving an invitation or by late contact when other plans have been made. As for some of the back stabbing, what about what Bob C wrote on this forum about what Peter Oakes had supposedly told him about the 250cc, Peter denies this. Our boy is sick of it all and at present is just out for fun and enjoy himself. In the last few weeks has really been able to enjoy his speedway again. We have heard that there are no more rounds of the under 15s. Can anyone shed more light on this subject? Christophers Dad dont let this grind you or Chris down, just go out and enjoy yourselves and just do what suits you and Chris and sod everyone else.
  10. To Bobc, Regarding the 'boycott' of the 250cc, 1st, letters were received late or in our case not at all. The only reason we knew, was when we read a letter to another rider. No phone call or e-mail even though he has both of ours and we have a answer machine. 2nd, we made the long trip to Weymouth for it to be called off 5 minutes after we arrived as it was rained off for a second half and tried the following week to be beaten by the heavy summer traffic in preparation for the first abandoned match. These facts can be checked with Ian Mcleod, Phil the promoter and the other 60-70 people that were in the pits and the stadium at the time. All this was done at great expense and much hassle to try and get out of work on time. Does this seem to be the action of someone who is not interested in the under 15's Championship??? Obviously Shane and Ashley have been invited to ride with the 500cc, so who is running a 'closed shop'? Marc is more than capable of beating some of the 500cc, but hasn't been invited to ride with them, even though we would have turned them down on safety grounds, as did Phil and Ashley. As most people concerned in speedway that we have spoken to are dead against it, trainers, professional riders and Alan Belham who sells them, are against it. The SCB rules even state all competitions and practises must be on the same capacity. Even if you got the top 10 trainers in the country, they can't put a 250cc and 500cc out together without breaking the rules and risking prosecution if things go wrong. Yet, its allowed to be done if Peter Oakes is standing in the pits, does this suddenly make the sport of speedway or the riders safer or better because of his presence!!!! As for your other points I will answer these when I have calmed down and avail you all the facts of who appears to get the special treatment and favouritism, of certain peoples conduct and attitudes and unsportmanship like behaviour. If this leaves those concerned with egg on their face or the position untainable then so be it. Gordi
  11. Can I just say Marc Owen is not 14 he will actually be 13 years old this coming Monday. Good luck to every one going hope the weather holds
  12. The teams may well change their names for certain meetings if local companies wish to sponsor meetings. C.W. products sponsored this first meeting, a big thankyou to Colin White for this, the boys loved the race jackets. Marc, as well as all the boys, went well on the night. You can see him at Sittingbourne as he is their mascot. He also rides at different tracks up and down the country. He likes Rye House and now Kings Lynn.

    Matty Allitt

Hi Matty, A big get well soon. You were sadly missed at the 250cc meeting. We look forward to seeing you at one of the meetings as the place will be open for you. Our thoughts and best wishes for you. Gordon, Marc and family.
  14. We are proud parents of one of the boys that rode on Friday night. Firstly very sad that Mathew Allitt was unable to make the meeting. We are all thinking of you, so get well soon make a speedy recovery. Nice gesture the boys wanted to leave his place free as no-one would be able to fill his shoes. A very big thankyou to all that helped to put the meeting together, parents for getting the boys together, track staff and all those who helped on the night as this would not have been possible without them. We had some great racing on the night considering over the last few months 4 of the riders had considered giving the speedway up. Now they know what team spirit is and true friends they are all determined to carry on and succeed. Seeing the boys that spent the night in the car park enjoying a game of football at midnight. We have more of these planned, please support them and ask at your tracks if we could run one especially at weekends. A big well done to the boys for making us ALL proud.
