What nationality was he please, and does anyone have any memories to share?

He was English. Other than that (which is bad enough) I can't remember anything about him.

Yes I remember hi, well, he only rode for Oxford I think for 1 season, but I feel sure he rode for more than just 3 Clubs.

His one-time mechanic Al Holliday (ex-California, Eastbourne and Rayliegh junior) is still about. They were co-promoters with Stan Clark at Rayleigh in 1964.

I recall Maurie riding for Exeter-good middle order guy-wasn't he with Rayleigh when they won PL in 1960??

Bobbath, I feel sure you are right, but I am sure he was amiddle order rider for a

team not mentioned previously here. I will have to get in my loft and do some research.

He certainly didn't ride in any official meeting for them, but could have ridden in a challenge for them.

I feel sure Maury rode for the Harringay Racers in the mid 50s for a time

Yes he scored 41 league points in 1951 per Peter Morrish"s book.

There is no way Maurie was riding as late as 68 when Berwick started-I reckon as per Frigbo it was Maurie Robinson
