spiderweb 2 Posted June 9, 2008 Pinched from Yahoo goup poster "steve" [Jim Airey was a welcome visitor to the pits yesterday, while on track ex-Halifax and Glasgow rider Merv Janke (riding a Godden) made a useful return to the saddle, making it as far as the final. Kevin Torpie also donned leathers again for a brisk demonstration. Other ex-riders watching included Nigel Boocock (proudly wearing his 'Bees' yellow jacket), Ivan Mauger, Bluey Scott, Don Lawson, Bill Bryden, Steve Regeling, Martin Porter and Mitch Shirra. The event was a veterns day at a track in Qld.
greytiger 54 Posted June 9, 2008 Forget all this nonsense about who is the best rider ever or the greatest rider never to win the World Championship. The ultimate question is this: how did Jim spell his surname? You read old magazines and you get both spellings. You do a Google search and you get both spellings. So what is it? Airy or Airey? Anyone? Jim Airey..........for sure
