The Routakallio track at Seinäjoki that was relaid during last summer after the abandonment of the Extraliiga opening round hosted only two meetings last season. Seinäjoki speedway was one of them at the very end of the season. Aleksi Mäkinen from www.speedway.fi has now put online all the heats. Videos can be found here.

Heat 18 was the decider. Aakko was way better from the tapes. After first lap everything was settled because the distances were already around 20 m each. Lehtinen had gearbox problems on the third lap but luckily Järf wasn't able to make a pass. Jouni Seppänen was on fire, as he did "last to 2nd" twice and last to first once and was a well worthy fourth.

Yeap, meeting wasnt very good. Antti didnt even use full trothle.. Flyktman and Lehtinen where clearly better than the rest. Shame that in heat 18. there was no real action. After first bend everything was over. Few star moments where actualy Jouni Seppänen's great over takes! Im very sad about how ice racing is looking. Most of guys looks like a sausages when they are fitted in their leathers. Not much of summer training done.. like normal speedway riders are doing in the winter to stay fit.

Like I said to a friend, I was happy to just see overtaking. Most of the heats were won from the tapes, but there were enough battles at the back for the meeting to get an OK mention.

Noticed that the Finnish calendar had also made it to the Spar's season preview. Well the word from the spring conference is that practically the whole calendar was re-written and also Haapajärvi lost the U21 final to Kuusankoski. Also the foreigner rule has been changed for this coming season in the Extraliiga. We'll wait for the official press release on the subject. It took almost eight weeks to produce one from the last conference, but hopefully they'll get one done in half the time this time, since the season kick's of in three weeks with a U21 training camp in Hallstavik, Sweden.

Jari Mäkinen has signed to ride for Kotkat in the Extraliiga this season.

When will the Finnish season start properly? I am hoping to see a meeting before I leave at the end of May.

I dont see any reason why they would have messed with Yyteri speedway. Thats on thursday, 21st of May.

Thanks. I might be able to see this, I leave the week afterwards for a months travelling in Europe. It will be good to see some speedway before I leave.
