Ghostwalker 1,862 Posted August 8, 2009 Good Post - The World Championship??? SHOULD be won on MERIT and against ALL COMERS. you recently complained about the lack of re-newing in the GPs and still want to see pensioners qualify to the gps. If we want to get fresh blood into the GPs then the likes of Zorro, Holta, Ulamek, PK, Max etc shouldnt be allowed to stand in the way. Zorro would be not be a good addition to the GP series. Ulamek &Adams really struggles this year and compared to those how would Zorro do?

If he qualifies he will have done so on merit. Then we will find out.How would you like to be told you're too old to be competent at your job ? And compared to "Real" work life the standard age of retirement is 65 y.o. and those who are over 60 rarely gets a new job because they are considred too old so i dont see how BSI/IMg couldnt do the same with those who are a year or two away from retiring from speedway. Do you really want to see a GP series that would look like this (exaggerated) : 01. Crump 02. Nicki 03. Greg 04. Gollob 05. Adams 06. Holta 07. Ulamek 08. Zorrro 09. PK 10. AJ 11. Hans A 12. Nicholls 13. Lindgren 14. Bjerre 15. Harris 16. Local WC Edited August 8, 2009 by Ghostwalker
Humphrey Appleby 13,983 Posted August 10, 2009 (edited) Do you really want to see a GP series that would look like this (exaggerated) If I were actually interested in the SGP, I'd prefer to see a competitive process for deciding the lineup. Yes, you might get a Zorro or Tomicek in there, but that would be better than this nonsense of trying to second guess who 'might be good for the GP', and then just nominating Nicholls once again anyway. Furthermore, if the GP Challenge actually meant anything, some of the better riders might start putting more effort into it, and you wouldn't have the potential scenario of a Tomicek coming within a whisker of qualifying. In any case, such riders might even end up being a refreshing surprise, because at the moment the whole thing is duller than dishwater.
