Bandits4life 17 Posted July 12, 2010 Really enjoyed my 1st meeting at Newport yesterday. Some really good heats and it was much better than what I thought it was going to be
tomcat 21 Posted July 15, 2010 Jason Doyles 15m win was probably the highlight of the meeting but I was very impressed with Chris Slabon. I dont think it will be long before we see him riding in Britain after that, deserved the victory. Good Meeting I say given the conditions and always nice to see a big crowd. Chris Slabon has already ridden in Britain... he is an Ipswich asset. Unless he has changed his ways, then I wouldn't fancy taking any chances with him. He had a tendancy to not appear and had a lot of personal troubles in Poland, the lesser being when he was nicked for riding his moped in a shopping mall. The other troubles were a lot more serious and yes to those that will start up, I know Chris well enough and had the dubious pleasure of driving for him and spannering. It was highly embarrassing at Poole, when I went to get a new inner tube for his back wheel and was told by the guy running the spares van to pay what was owing first or to sod off.... Chris had a huge amount of talent and only showed glimpses of that for Ipswich and never really pushed that home when he was given more than a few chances after getting into bother. As I said, if he's sorted himself out, then he has bags of ability, but if not... its a case of don't touch with a bargepole I am afraid. Oh and despite the fact he races in Poland and on a Polish licence, he is Canadian by nationality, so don't know how, or if that affects his average for over here now. Glad he turned up for this meeting and put on a good show.

He did ride for us (Canada) in the World Championships & U21, he then went back to Poland for better opportunities in Speedway....certainly a good decision seeing the state of Canadian Speedway these days.
