Swedish 2011 Season

Recommended Posts

Zorro was 2nd (well thats where he stood on the podium). Surprised there was no run-off, most National Championships still have them. Good evening though, plenty of good close racing, and the catering was 1st class, i've never seen such a selection of food at a speedway track.

EDIT:For anyone that saw my last post saying that Swedish Speedway was going to be shown delayed next week, this is in fact WRONG. It will be shown before the Rangers game, thanks to Jeffster for pointing that out to me. :)

Every tv guide i've checked has the speedway on delayed at 10pm. There is a re-run of the Blackpool vs Rangers friendly ahead of this weeks Rangers game. Check out the Premier Sports thread in this section.

it seems that there will be even more rule changes for next season.

A demotion series between teams 5-8 to decide what team that will be demoted to Allsvenskan after the season.

The Play off will go back to contain 4 teams with two semi finals and a final.

Ghostwalker, any changes?

team 9 - in Allsvenskan after the season?

teams 5-8 - series between them?

teams 1-4 - semifinals and final?

so far this is what it will be like. but have in mind last years back and forth circus. Especially with Dackarna in last place.

the Swedish federation (Svemo) have decided to give up control over speedway and ice racing. Instead a commercial company will be started,

This company will initially be owned by Svemo but from next year the clubs also have to financially contribute to the company.

This will also means that Svemo and the clubs will share any possible profits.

We will see what this leads too. I must say i am a bit sceptical. Handing control to the teams (which it is more or less) doesn't sound

like a good idea. I don't know what its like for the football but the for the ice hockey it doesn't work very well since a few teams just look at the own gain

rather then looking at what's best for the sports and the series like no automatically promotion and demotion which is to severe the lower series teams to

advance through the series.

Agree 100%. Clubs usually only see what's best for themselves at the moment, so this have all the possibilities to be...well, a circus. Well, hoping for the best...

Would somebody out there be kind enough to confirm that Valsarna v's Dackarna(9/8) and Vastervik v's Hammarby(16/8) would both start at 7pm Swedish time.

We are lucky enough to be going to Sweden for two weeks and plan on taking in these two meetings as well as the GP.

don't know what your schedule look like but there will be a kick-ass Allsvenskan meeting on Thursday next week at Eskilstuna track.

Ikaros Smederna meets Masarna and riders like Thomas H Jonasson, Zorro, Kenni Larsen, Antonio Lindbäck, Linus Sundström, Sebastian Aldén and several more good riders.
