Neil H 63 Posted March 23, 2011 Former competitor in the Under 15's Championship. Has had a bit of action here and there in the National League and can only benefit from having secured a team place. He just needs a long run to settle down and he will improve with the help of the likes of Atkin in the team.
CrystalCastles 292 Posted March 23, 2011 So, Ben Reade is the final rider. Any thoughts on him? Glad to see Ben getting a chance again at this level. From what ive seen of him last year (very limited) but bags of potential & a nice style. Last year in the few races i saw he was on the pace, but didnt score an awful lot, thats no criticism of him, just last year was maybe a bit to soon for him. Last year the quality of reserves & new young riders was high. A number of the excellent young riders who started at reserve last year are this seasons main body riders. I think Ben will do quite well this year.

Diesel 26 Posted March 23, 2011 Another ex Newport Hornet! I thought he was a decent enough prospect before he went to Plymouth (I think).

ChubbyChesgire 9 Posted March 24, 2011 How come Mildenhall's averages are over 40 - how can they get away with that ?
neil3065 21 Posted March 24, 2011 How come Mildenhall's averages are over 40 - how can they get away with that ? The BSPA's list still has Olly Rayson in our line-up. Without him (having moved on to Kings Lynn) we have about 4.4 for a final rider. A tricky figure to work with as there arent that many riders available on that sort of figure. Nikko 181 Posted March 24, 2011 How come Mildenhall's averages are over 40 - how can they get away with that ? It isnt, the BSPA website has not removed Ollie from the team. They have about 4.4ish left.
PhilK 150 Posted March 24, 2011 I agree with you Neil not an easy figure to work with. It was mentioned that the final rider may/would be chosen at P&P in the same way Stoke have done. That could leave us With three 3 pointers in the side? Personally I'd consider Aaron Baseby leaving Heeps and Blackbird in the reserve berths. He seems the best option to me. Aaron (and of course Mark) are huge losses from the NL as things stand...
Wildcat Willie 4 Posted March 24, 2011 Gary Cottham on a 4.24ish would be a good signing, very good in my humble opinion.

Well indeed, what I said about the Baseby bros also applies to another rider I know well and have maximum time for in Garry... If ONLY league Speedway could've carried on at Iwade.... Baldy 69 Posted March 24, 2011 Taking the thread back to the Potters. What impressed me about Ben in the race off's was that it seemed he wasn't quite as quick out of the gate as Mcbain( who must be thinking himself unlucky, stick at it mate you have talent)but in one race he held a very tight line to keep under the other racer and in another he rode the boards very bravely, to me that say's that if the track is giving something then he will take it. Very pleased with ALL the boy's yesterday.
lewy 2,327 Posted March 24, 2011 i watch speedway regularly at plymouth saw ben ride alot last season he has definately got what it takes to become a good rider in national league also if jamie pickard keeps progressing i think you will have some great speedway to watch both good lads and deserve a team place imo
