f-s-p 832 Posted February 19, 2011 SM-liiga calendar was finalised today and will be out next week after going through the proper channels. The meeting/conference today included some debate over a few rules and lasted about twice the time than any of the 10 previuos meetings I've attended. I think it all turned out fine and people involved are well informed about whats going on. So bring it on! The ice racing test match against the Swedes in a few weeks will feature ALL the top Swedes and top Finns. The Finnish team will be decided after tomorrows national final. And only -15 forecasted for tomorrow. I've woken up to -28 or less every day this week... (freezin smiley)

f-s-p 832 Posted March 8, 2011 Finnish fixtures are top(ic) secret. Funny you should mention, as I happen to know that they are being sent to the federation this week (including league rules) for approval. On another note, they were finalised in the conference mentioned and the clubs have been aware of the dates 6 weeks earlier than last year. So the "secrecy factor" has been played down considerably this year.

f-s-p 832 Posted April 5, 2011 There's been a change in the Finnish calendar regarding SM-liiga. Here's the udpdated calendar with the change in bold: SM-liiga fixtures: 14th May, Pori: Paholaiset - Sand Blowers - Kotkat - Keittiöpiste. 24th May, Seinäjoki: Kotkat - Keittiöpiste - Paholaiset - Sand Blowers. 14th June, Kuusankoski: Keittiöpiste - Paholaiset - Sand Blowers - Kotkat. 16th July, Hyvinkää: Sand Blowers - Kotkat - Keittiöpiste - Paholaiset. 23rd July, Seinäjoki: Kotkat - Sand Blowers - Paholaiset - Keittiöpiste. 20th August, Kuusankoski: Keittiöpiste - Kotkat - Sand Blowers - Paholaiset. 23rd August, Pori: Paholaiset - Keittiöpiste - Kotkat - Sand Blowers. 27th August, Hyvinkää: Sand Blowers - Paholaiset - Keittiöpiste - Kotkat. The change come's from the withdrawal of the joint adventure of two Tampere clubs to have a longtrack meeting at the local track Teivo. After that failed, it was clear that the date would be given to SM-liiga depending it would be approved by the clubs. The Finnish season starts in ten days, when the training group traditionally visits Hallstavik for three day's practise. SM-liiga opener at Pori is also the season opener over here. Finnish riders for the Scandinavian qualifier at Malmö are Siltaniemi, Timo Lahti, Jari Mäkinen and Kalle Katajisto. Finnish riders for the EC quali at Stralsund are Timo Lahti and Jari Mäkinen. Finnish team for the U21 quali in Ukraine is Katajisto, Mäkinen, Siltaniemi, Timo Lahti and Mika Loppi. Palomäki has said they need to go through, there's no other option. Finnish news has not quite developed as in previous years, but once the season gets going it'll be allright again.

f-s-p 832 Posted April 5, 2011 Sand Blowers???? Is that an official name or have you translated it? It's the real deal. They were asking about names last fall but then decided for the traditional one from the clubs history. Not my favourite, but there's a track and a club again at Hyvinkää!
