British 125cc Final At Rye House On Monday 26th August 2013

Recommended Posts

On a blistering hot afternoon, these youngsters took to track in what proved to be a most enthrawling race-meeting. These young men no know fear, and left the very large crowd gasping at their almost every move. Long gone are the days when you can say that kids and riders that compete in Amateur Meetings are little more than wobblers. They show a maturity way beyond their years, and are a real credit to Neil Vatcher and Phil Morris who are guiding them along their path to hopeful and eventual stardom, not forgetting the blood, sweat and tears that their parents go through too. Each and every young rider on show looked and has the ability to go all the way, with Masters Bickley, Stead, Brennan & Flint looking particularly impressive yesterday, and were worth their places in the Grand Final. On another day, it could just have easily been any of the other competitors grabbing the limelight, because that's how good each and every one of them are. Harry McGurk suffered a terrifying looking accident in Heat 3, and many thought that was the end of his afternoon, but after some treatment, he shrugged his shoulders, waved to the very appreciative crowd, and came out for the re-run taking second place. Poor Jolyon West encountered some awful machinery problems in his first couple of races, and his centre-green antics had the whole crowd laughing and cheering, completely oblivious to the fact that there was a race still taking place. He punched his machine, he punched the floor, he punched his head, he danced, he probably swore under his helmet, but wouldn't admit that to Mum & Dad of course!! and didn't just about everything you'd expect to see at the theatre in a good variety show. Absolutely marvellous. If you've never seen a meeting of this type and are in a position to do so, then I really do urge you to go along to Iwade on the 22nd September at midday for the final round of the British Youth Championship in both 250cc and 500cc classes, plus they'll be supported by the youngsters on their 125cc machines. I for one can't wait for this meeting to come around, and I hope a lot of you will be able to make the journey too. The result were: -

1. Tom Brennan 3-2-R-3 = 8

2. Leon Flint FD-3-3-2 = 8
