TheSmiler 420 Posted July 23, 2014 1. King's Lynn 2. Poole 3. Coventry 4. Swindon Poole will always be there, everybody knows this by now. Lakeside and Eastbourne will miss out by around 2-5 points. It's going to be mighty close from 2-6 for the rest of the season IMO. I think each position will be separated by 1 to 3 points.
g13webb 4,254 Posted July 23, 2014 We all know the reason why we have the Play-offs, we all except the Mickey Mouse ideas of granular, But deep down we also know it does nothing for the sport in the long run. The whole idea plays into the hands of certain clubs, and because of that, it is in direct expense of the sport. The idea of the play-offs is totally television. It most certainly doesn't bring in any newcomers to our fan base, But against that, we have to ask how many fans have turned their backs on the sport, because it allows teams to buy the honours... Just for a moment , spare a thought for Birmingham. who led the league for the whole season. If Birmingham had been hailed as League Champions 2013, as they should have been, would it have made any difference to the appeal of their supporters, and therefore helped the continuation of the Club....... I cant ever imagine a Club that won the League being short of support?????? Just a thought....... If a team don't get their rightful rewards then you must question the whole sanity of the sport..
Panthers89 1,922 Posted July 23, 2014 Lynn and Coventry are guaranteed IMO, Poole should see themselves in, and then out of Swindon and Lakeside for the last spot, with Swindon confirming there spot with 2 meetings to go.
BluTiger 21,700 Posted July 23, 2014 Lynn, Coventry, Poole and Swindon. Bees to win the play offs if everyone stays fit...
g13webb 4,254 Posted August 5, 2014 Two massive away wins last night only emphasises the importance of points as we go into the tail end of the season. Although Lynn and Poole were already top of the league, the defeats for Wolves and Belle Vue has surely categorised them as also-rans. Matches are all of immense importance now and are coming thick and fast, . Swindon go to Poole on Wednesday, and although defeat would not be the end of the world, a point would be precious in their pursuit of that allusive play-off position. It all means, that run of the mill matches, now become more important, and that has to be good for spectators...
stevebrum 6,823 Posted August 5, 2014 , the defeats for Wolves and Belle Vue has surely categorised them as also-rans. They were that before these matches took place. Only the home promotions believed otherwise.
T.N.T. 355 Posted August 7, 2014 Kings Lynn are obviously favourites and will finish top but I still think that Poole will come strong when required and win the play offs. Lakeside and Coventry to lose in the semi finals Will be interesting to see if those four teams have the same riders come the crunch !!! With Coventry holding the advantage in matches to ride and more at home, pretty confident in my prediction and even more so after Poole's recent run of form

Star Fever 274 Posted August 11, 2014 (edited) KL, Poole, Cov, Swindon...Eastie and Lakeside have too many away meetings. Having more away meetings in hand is a good thing because that's where points are potentially gained. Having more home meetings means you have points to potentially lose. Granted Lakeside and Eastie aren't exactly well-known for getting away points but they do at least have a chance of getting 'em. Coventry have already got a good away record and are effectively 3rd best because of it, but if they lose any more home points, its not impossible to be caught. g13webb 4,254 Posted August 12, 2014 With little over a month to go before the league season finishes , there are still a tremendous amount of matches to be played. Most clubs still have 10 matches to play. What's the betting some clubs will fail to fulfil their obligation. What effects will this have on the play-off,? Can clubs afford to run double headers, Strange really, we've just had a month of glorious weather, and most of it was taken up with the WTC. Now with the latest week of bad weather, there must be a lot of rained off fixtures to arrange as well. What's the fine for not completing your fixtures? No doubt, money that the clubs can ill-afford. With all the RR, Guest, Missing riders, The Weather, The Rule bending, this season is now starting to drag out.
mdmc82 2,878 Posted August 12, 2014 Table as it currently stands 1. Kings Lynn 56pts. (9 meetings left) 2. Poole 47pts. (10 meetings left) 3. Lakeside. 37pts. (11meetings left) 4. Eastbourne. 36pts. (12 meetings) 5. Swindon. 34pts. (9 meetings) 6. Coventry. 30pts. (14 meetings) Lakeside: 4 home, 7 away Eastbourne : 4 home, 8 away Swindon : 5 home, 4 away Coventry : 8 home, 6 away As stated, with so much bad weather will all the fixtures be able to take part before the play offs. Think fans will have to expect and be understanding of promotors not calling meetings off early just in case there is any chance of getting a meeting on. Could mean a lot of R/R and guests. TonyE 822 Posted August 12, 2014 Weather should not be a problem. As last season clearly demonstrated, it is possible to run a meeting in any weather!
