The race format they should revert to is the original 15 heat BL format.

 

Effectively, the traditional 13 heat format with an extra reserves race and a nominated race bolted on.

 

Two reserves races offers more than enough protection for the nos 6 and 7. Let them try their hand against the big boys in their other two races.

change heat 14 to an extra nominated race ,each must pick a reserve and a 1-5 rider but not the highest scorer , the highest scorers go in heat 15

Fifteen heat format, six man teams

 

Heats 1-3 1/2 v 1/2, 3/4 v 3/4, 5/6 v 5/6

Heats 4-6 1/2 v 3/4, 3/4 v 5/6, 5/6 v 1/2

Heats 7-9 1/2 v 5/6, 3/4 v 1/2, 5/6 v 3/4

Heats 10-12 managers can choose any pairing, each rider has one ride

Heats 13-15 same as 10-12 managers can chose any pairing, again each rider has one ride

Much the same way the last 4 heats are chosen in the world Cup

I agree, the old 15 heat format is now ok to use again because there is only one heat in which the number 7 comes up against a heat leader. His other rides are all against second strings and reserves. It would also be fairer on the heat leaders who now have to ride against their opposing heat leaders much too often.
