However reaching the very pinnacle of his chosen sport is a perfect role model.

Choosing what he didn't achieve a school and the way he looks are the actions of a bigot.

Tai IS a role model to young riders and kids and they have no issue with all those things you mentioned - plus they probably aren't bigoted either.

So if your correct then there will not be a British final in years to come and all the kids will look like dumbo covered in tattoos with no education behind them hoping they can ride a bike as good as there role model.

This is a big part of the reason tai ahould not be selected for team GB

Yeah, that’s exactly what is going to happen – just like in 2002 when 10 years after Havelock won the World Title a load of kids turned up at Coventry with dreadlocks and ying yang t shirts on….

Tai, but much more significantly someone like Adel at Glastonbury the other week, is able to unleash a torrent of bad language to a world wide audience of millions and not too many people blink an eye

I recall real Glastonbuty legends like The Andrews Sisters, Benny Coogan, Dame Vera Linn and Nat 'King' Cole performing to audiences of well over 2 million when the festival was held at Hackney marshes during the immediate post war years. NONE of these true giants of the stage felt the need to resort to foul language.

The number of people who think kids are thick enough to blindly follow what someone else does is staggering! Not all kids are like the ones you see on the news or are reported in the papers. You will find that the vast majority are pretty sensible....

Have you actually talked to any of the riders in the British youth set up? They are all well mannered, polite and determined kids who can think for themselves.

As much as I like Tai as a rider Being expelled from school, having no qualifications, plus having your face and hands tattooed, along with large discs in his ears definitely doesn't set him out as a role model. .(plus his language)

You've pretty much described many indigenous races and tribes around the world.

He is a role model to children...in as much as he has proved you can be successful at something, regardless of your education or other abilities in life.

I can't believe the dogs abuse this lad is getting.

No body knows what's going on in his head.

He's a young lad that had to suffer a year with his father dying of cancer.

Can you imagine how traumatic that is....especially when you are that close.

Many people deal with grief in different ways...drink, drugs, self harm, tattoo's, piercings are common with such like.

Some are stronger and deal with it ok.

Many Sportsman get to the top of their game and then make decisions on how they can stay at the top.

Many footballers leave these shores and ply their trade abroad.

It pays better often and in some cases you have better competition.

Tai Woffinden owes nobody nothing.

What is apparent...is there is a very small minority of bigoted close minded old folk on here, who don't like Tai because he's 'different'.

The fact is...he has tattoo's, piercings and swears and holes in his ears...Get over it. It's not conventional...but it is in other parts of the world.

The fact you think you cannot call him a role model, because of that, is the most distasteful thing I've heard on here in a long time.

Some people need a long hard look in the mirror...some of you have become bigots, because someone doesn't conform to how you like people to act and look.

Disgraceful.

Yes of course, because every kid that makes it to Tai's level will ditch Britain and we will have GP's with all British riders

Missing the point as always and attacking someone for the way they look.

Bigot.

Tai is the only certainty in team GB and rightly so.

It would be like USA riding the World Cup without Greg, not a chance and an embarrassment.

But then your stance on Tai is an embarrassment.

Exactly. Just a spot of crowd-surfing from the Andrews sisters and Dame Vera biting the head off a chicken..

And the clubs they played for in their formative years see a massive cash benefit from their transfer fees . well worth taking a risk on an unknown quantity . if 5 years on you get £100.000.000 for your trouble , what did British speedway get from Woffinden ? absolutely nothing

I must have imagined the nine years he raced here then.

Comparing the situation of Woffiden and the return to British Speedway to that of a player being sold by an English Football team, is, well, well I don’t know if it’s hilarious or utterly ridiculous, it is one or the other.

I pity those are anti Woffinden the desperation is just sad, it is tragic to read grown men acting this way, mentioning things like appearance, tattoos and returns to British Speedway.
