Campaign To Get Coventry Bees Back Racing In 2018.

Recommended Posts

It does seem to have disappeared.

I noticed it wasn't working late last night but I hadn't had any notification from Just Giving so assumed there was no major problem and left it until this morning. It all appears fine now. I've no idea what the problem was, sorry.

COVENTRY are pleased to add another Challenge match to their schedule with a visit to SGB Premiership newcomers Rye House now agreed.

The match at Hoddesdon will take place on Saturday May 6 (7pm), which was a previously scheduled date for a league encounter between the clubs.

And it is set to be a major Coventry re-union as four of the Rockets team have ridden extensively for the Bees during their careers.

Chris Harris (2004-10, 2012, 2014-16), Scott Nicholls (2005-07, 2009, 2012-13), Edward Kennett (2009-12) and Stuart Robson (1995-6, 1998-2004, 2013, 2015) all have strong connections with the club, whilst at reserve Robert Branford is a former member of Coventry Storm in the National League.

As with the match at Wolverhampton on April 10, Rory Schlein will be appearing in the Coventry team in place of Kenneth Bjerre.

We would like to thank Steve Jenson and all at Rye House for their help and co-operation in arranging this fixture.

Hopefully Leicester won't plan on having a fixture the same day as we would be missing Danny and Josh if they do. At the moment it is just 'Reserved.'

It will get to a point where most of the riders have team spots but it's about keeping the Coventry Bees name going. They've always said that we will bring in guests that have history at Coventry. The likes of Bomber, Schelin and Howarth are already booked in for meetings.

COMMITTEE GROUP - CLARIFICATION

Saturday 08 April 2017

SAVE Coventry Speedway and Stox Campaign Group - Clarification:

The original Save Coventry Speedway Facebook Group, the Coventry Observer Campaign and various other well intended activities associated with trying to get Speedway and Stox back to Coventry have all been pulled together in the form of a Campaign Group.

The objective of forming this Campaign Group was to identify a clear vision, avoid duplication of effort and co-ordinate activities to achieve that vision, in a structured manner.

Both sports are well represented in the group and share the common vision, and the Committee members are:

Jeff Davies Retired Motor Industry Director and Coventry Track Photographer for 33 years

David Rowe Sports Jourmalist, Writer and Broadcaster of Football and Speedway

Steve Jones - Nuneaton Speedway Supporters Club representative

John Clarke Retired former Director of Buildbase

Pete Lawrence - Started the original Facebook group a few years ago

Dave Carter - Town Planner and secretary of the BriSCA F1 Management Board

Wayne Roberts - Local radio BBC Coventry & Warwickshire correspondent

Shaun Reynolds Journalist from the Coventry Observer

Chris Anderson Director of Whale Tankers and Manager of Chris Harris

Colin Bate - Former Marketing Director at Unipart

Nigel Harrhy Stock Car driver and son of former Bees rider John Harrhy

Paul Hines Stock Car Driver and Drivers Association Committee Member

Paul Taylor - Retired former Legal Secretary specialising in property

The NSSC were asked to administer the Riders Hardship Fund in order to provide an independent view on the distribution of funds, in the knowledge that they have the full trust of supporters from many years of successfully running the 50/50 draw. The Committee would like to thank the NSSC for their ongoing support.

SUPPORTERS interested in car sharing for next Wednesday's match at Poole are asked to get in touch with us.

If you plan to drive to Wimborne Road and could offer a lift to other supporters, please let us know your details and where you would be starting from.

Likewise, if you would like to go to the meeting but cannot drive there, send us your details and where you would be able to get to in order to be picked up.

Please contact info@savecoventryspeedway.com if this would interest you, and we will try to put you in touch with someone who can help.

Though many riders now have either full-time or temporary places in other teams, all riders with the exception of Kenneth Bjerre who now races for Belle Vue have remained committed to riding for the Bees, meaning fans have a team to support on the road

Wednesdays meeting at Poole Stadium starts at 7.30pm.

And if it's anything like the M4 and M1 by "smart" what they mean is the damn thing will have a 50mph limit so they can screw the motorist out of money. The M4 through Newport catches 80 people a day speeding, because the limit is set to low!

'Smart' - no hard-shoulder so if you break down and can't get to a refuge you're stranded in a live lane. Of course all other drivers will immediately observe the lane-closed and speed limit warnings on the gantry so no-one will get mowed down.......
