dontforgetthefueltapsbruv 10,710 Posted November 25, 2017 How old are you people 6? Jeez its an opinion but if you want a fact ill give you one. Every promoter needs to get as much publicity for there club during the off season as they can. Hardly going to get a lot of publicity when a club announces the full line-up in 1 go. I'm right your wrong ask Matt Ford or at least 75% of other promoters Ipswich has a great profile in the local press and a partnership with the football club. Both will be enhanced by knowing the full team as early as possible for ongoing promoting initiatives.
Mattfordfan 286 Posted November 25, 2017 Announcing the team in one go also allows the riders additional time to seek out local sponsorship, as opposed to being announced in dribs and drabs over four months. Teams are all signed and sealed very early. Promoters just announce riders at different times to get maximum publicity for there clubs therefore all riders have enough time to get sponsorship sorted. Riders announce on twitter that there looking for a team spot very early because promoters know what team they want and what riders are signed up. Well according to the Talk Speedway podcast. The British 2 rider rule has been scrapped. Good news. Was a stupid rule in the first place. Ipswich has a great profile in the local press and a partnership with the football club. Both will be enhanced by knowing the full team as early as possible for ongoing promoting initiatives. All about different opinions.
Aces51 2,778 Posted November 25, 2017 (edited) Good news. Was a stupid rule in the first place. The Poles must be really stupid insisting on the reserves and a fixed number of Polish riders in their teams. What's it ever achieved for them? Any move to reduce the opportunities for British riders to progress is a backward step and shows a complete lack of forward thinking. Any move to reduce the opportunities for British riders to progress is a backward step and shows a complete lack of forward thinking. There is only half a dozen British riders who's careers could go somewhere on the European tracks. No point in giving riders like Auty, S. Lambert & Robson team spots in the top flight because they've been around for ages and never got anywhere. Just a waste of a team place in the top flight. Let them all ride in the Championship whilst the Premiership can sign up and coming Poles and Swedes to put on a good show. The Polish produce world class riders regularly. So giving them a team spot is actually going to further there careers.

WestGorton1884 621 Posted November 25, 2017 If reports about dropping the 2 Brits rule are true , then what a massive backwards step for British speedway We should be doing the exact opposite in my opinion , the reserve berths should be taken up solely by young British riders We need to encourage the likes of Shanes and Bewley

Not many thought he was going to be anything more than a second division journeyman. The point is that you sometimes can but can't always tell who might gain from such opportunities and step up their performance to the next or an even higher level. Perhaps it hasn't occurred to you that the Poles regularly produce world class riders because they give them the opportunities before they are world class. Not every rider given those opportunities will become world class but many will benefit and become genuine first division riders and that is sufficient justification for giving them the chance to do so. Let's hope that there is a misunderstanding and that we are still going to have the two Brits rule. Edited November 25, 2017 by Aces51
Gavan 5,062 Posted November 25, 2017 No wishing about it. Matt was left very dissapointed last season. And the season before. Poole have dominated the elite league bit like Man Utd did the premier league.......but as good as Man United are they arent top dog anymore and neither are Poole, thats the way sport is

Let's hope that there is a misunderstanding and that we are still going to have the two Brits rule. Doyle was always going places. Injuries held him back imo. Auty has had plenty of chances. Would have gotten somewhere by now. Britain gives young Brits opportunities but some of them are way out of there depth. And the season before. Poole have dominated the elite league bit like Man Utd did the premier league.......but as good as Man United are they arent top dog anymore and neither are Poole, thats the way sport is Its all down to Buster Chapman's stupid rules. We would have won last year. Batchelor or Holder would have joined if it wasn't for the stupid rule and then we would have walked the league.
