dontforgetthefueltapsbruv 10,706 Posted July 24, 2017 Did Wolves sign the 'We will roll over and you can tickle our tummy' release clause asked for by the Poles then? Should still be no facility even if they did....
Baldyman 6,243 Posted July 24, 2017 Could you imagine the ban calls if it was a poole rider?
dontforgetthefueltapsbruv 10,706 Posted July 24, 2017 He didn't choose, read the press release. Of course he is choosing He could choose to tell his Polish club he is riding in the Wolves original fixture as per his British contract Or He could tell Wolves he has chosen to ride for his Polish club in a late rearranged fixture
Beowulf 1,513 Posted July 24, 2017 I can't believe how negative some fans are about their team's chances at Belle Vue. Apart from convincingly beating 'an already beaten' Poole in the KO Cup and the joke team wolves started the season with every home meeting has been a very close run thing with 2 home defeats and a draw already this season. Based on our results the lack of home advantage goes without saying, add in our current slump in form, we've lost two consecutive meetings for the first time this season, and wolves must be looking at a 4 point away win. If that's not bad enough it gets worse for Belle Vue's chances when you factor in the changes to the wolves team. Compare the team wolves brought to Belle Vue on Good Friday to the one expected to turn up tomorrow night and it is hard to predict anything but a comfortable away win. Take Howarth, Skornicki, Thorsell and Clegg and replace with Barker, Schlein, RR and Perks, surely that's worth an extra 10 points? Let's have a look. Based on their league scores there is not much to choose between Howarth and Barker, although Howarth was lucky to see the Belle Vue no.1 have an ef to help him to a win one race. The British final suggests fewer 'doubts' about Barker around Belle Vue than Howarth though. Schlein for the hapless Skornicki needs no explanation. RR for Thorsell will probably score about the same but from only 4 rides. Statistically Perks is at least twice as good as Clegg around Belle Vue this season. Even if Lindgren, Masters and Greaves between them only manage 17 (not including the double tr bollox) the replacements only need to improve the previous incumbents score by 10 between them. Perks should get +2, Schlein should get +6, Barker should get at least the same as Howarth so that leaves RR scoring the same as Thorsell but from 4 rides making the other ride Thorsell used up as possibly the difference between all three possible outcomes! Don't watch it on TV get there in person. Watching on telly is okay but you never really get anything like the proper experience and it's only ten quid to get in! Advanced ticket sales in the grandstand look good, blocks C, D and E are sold out and there are only a few hundred left in the other blocks so it looks like the £10 deal has worked well although a few people may be taking the opportunity to sit as its the same price anywhere in the stadium. Should be a thriller! Not convinced, home win 8-10 points. For once, I'll be happy if you're right !
Perton Wolf 396 Posted July 24, 2017 Did Wolves sign the 'We will roll over and you can tickle our tummy' release clause asked for by the Poles then? Should still be no facility even if they did.... No - British Speedway as a whole did that a while ago.
ouch 1,191 Posted July 24, 2017 In the A match Howarth scored 7 (from 4) , so let's see if Barker scores more than that. Not convinced myself. Don't remind my of the A fixture. That had Skornicki, Glegg & Greaves score 4 and you still hit 38. Not looking good for The Aces. So do Polands re arranged fixtures come first? I take it that's why Jacob missing?? Adams has always been tactically clever. So he is withholding his services then?? 28 day ban for that. That's the rules. Or did wolves sign something saying Poland get first call? Doesn't he also have a wolves contract?? yes he does, so is withholding services. Need to factor in CVS. Broom and carpet special.
stevebrum 6,824 Posted July 24, 2017 Of course he is choosing He could choose to tell his Polish club he is riding in the Wolves original fixture as per his British contract Or He could tell Wolves he has chosen to ride for his Polish club in a late rearranged fixture Ditto every foreign rider that rides here and in Poland. Not one of them will go against the Polish authorities.
Perton Wolf 396 Posted July 24, 2017 Of course he is choosing He could choose to tell his Polish club he is riding in the Wolves original fixture as per his British contract Or He could tell Wolves he has chosen to ride for his Polish club in a late rearranged fixture If you had two part time jobs and got offered shifts at the same time but one of them paid a lot more than the other - which one would you pick? Not to mention that his Polish club probably wouldn't select him again if he missed their meeting, obviously he will get selected at Wolves still. No brainer for him really, even if he did have a false choice as you seem to imply.
racers and royals 8,736 Posted July 24, 2017 I doubt Thorsell has had much say in this and It's not that difficult to work out what's actually happened here. The poles rearranged their fixture which clashed with tonights meeting. They asked if they could use Thorsell and Adams said no chance. Howarth has his crash and once it became apparent he wouldn't be available for tonight's meeting Adams realised that letting Thorsell ride in Poland would actually make them stronger, giving them rr for the swede and a guest, who more than doubled Howarth's score in the British Final. You've got to hand it to Adams, he never misses a trick. Is it within the rules though? I see I'm not the first in this thread to acknowledge Adams' 'tactical awareness', lol! There is just one thing wrong with what you have written- it`s complete rubbish. Zielona Gora would tell Thorssell he`s riding- he would tell Wolves he can`t ride for them. Every foreign rider on signing his Polish Extraleague contract would have to have the signed paperwork from his other clubs confirming the fact that the polish league club have 1st dabs on his services. the BSPA must have reluctantly agreed to facilities being granted in these circumstances.
ouch 1,191 Posted July 24, 2017 If that's the case then why did CVS waste 10 days trying to sort it?
Aces51 2,778 Posted July 24, 2017 Wolves are already a strong team and generally do well at the NSS. Barker for Howarth and r/r for Thorsell make them even stronger. BV have struggled against much weaker teams and Bjerre and Cook seem to have gone off the boil. It would have been close against their full 1-7 so realistically it's Wolves to lose. Anything less than a 6 point loss and BV will have done well.
racers and royals 8,736 Posted July 24, 2017 If that's the case then why did CVS waste 10 days trying to sort it?Because he was obviously unhappy at a re- arranged Polish Extraleague match taking preference over a SGBP match- he asked Zielona Gora and they weren't playing ball. The BSPA knew the score at the start of the season- the Polish Extraleague are getting too big for their own boots and there is nothing the BSPA,SVEMO the FIM or the PZM can do about it !!!! Well there is something we can do. Tell thorsell and any other rider that rides in poland over a scheduled British league match to do one. If it's ok for riders to prefer riding for more money Then it's fair for us to only get riders 100% committed to British league
