Last legtrail world finalist

I never obviously saw Bluey Wilkinson ride or seen an action photo of him. I know from action photos that I have that the two initial world champions Lionel Van Praag and Jack Milne were foot for ward stylists.

My query in regard to Wilkinson is - was he the first and only legtrail rider to win the World Championship when he claimed the crown in 1938?

I have received an email which informs me that Bluey Wilkinson in 1938 was indeed the only legtrail rider to win the world championship.
