  1. For a while now I've been getting quite irritated with the way GP's are scored, or rather the lack of a reward for reaching the semis, final or winning it. Personally, I don't like that the winner can be outscored by others in the meeting but given the nature of the GPs I accept that it's a possibility. It really did annoy me when Emil finished 5th earlier this year though and top scored. The way I see it winning the GP is not worth much at all right now, if you make the final then 2nd is just 1 point worse than 1st and if you've done better earlier in the meeting I feel the incentive just isn't there. What I would like to see maybe would be to keep the scoring for all heats as it is, no double points, but award a set amount of bonus points to riders who reach the semis, then the final and then the eventual winner. Maybe 5 points for reaching the semis, 10 for the final and 15 for winning it. Am I alone with this or does anyone else think that the current system isn't great? You don't have to agree with my suggestion obviously.
  2. Think Greg might get one for to keep the USA interested, if he chooses to carry on anyway. Think Gollob would miss out as there are a lot of good Poles out there and as has been said, he'll probably call it a day.
  3. Well, Tai's certainly proved me wrong this year and I'm happy for it. Also, as has been mentioned, he seems to have matured no end and is earning respect not just for his riding which is great to see. It would be great if he can go on to be champ this year, I thought the injury may have finished him (for the title) but then he goes and cuts Emil's lead in Italy and it's all to ride for.
  4. I'm not holding high hopes for a top GP tomorrow but fingers crossed. Think Emil may have this one though Greg may surprise me. Gollob's done ok here before though his current form is well off, good odds though
  5. It's good to see I'm not alone with my hatred of the stupid joker. It makes me really angry that such a rule is used, it devalues the event no end.
  6. Didn't get to watch properly but my impression was that the riders did their best to put on a show with a poor track. Hopefully the tracks improve. Fair play to Emil and was sad to hear about his father.
  7. Possibly the best SGP I've watched, really was a top quality meeting. Great riding and the track was good from the get go pretty much, shame about the tapes bit but it wasn't a major issue really
  8. I hope Tai competes but I think he's going to really struggle against this group
  9. Good news it's all official, would've been bad for it not to be on.
  10. Nigel's ok apart from his love for Gollob! He has a passion for the sport and IMO does a fairly good job at building excitement. As for Tatum I'm not the biggest fan in the world
  11. Some pretty good points in that article, would be interesting to see if the attendance at Cardiff would indeed suffer.
  12. Don't get me wrong I'm a fan of the GPs and I prefer them, as someone said on the whole they bring in a bigger crowd.
  13. Must say that if they did switch to a one off I'm sure they'd have no problems attracting similar/bigger crowds than the GPS.
  14. Never really looked at it that way to be honest but I guess that's a fair point
  15. Apologies if this has been discussed before, I'm fairly new here. I was just wondering if there was a lot of dislike for the GP series out there as I've seen in a few topics a lot of negativity towards them. It looks a bit like a lot of people would prefer a return to the world final system. For what it's worth I'm a fan of the GP series, whilst I wish some of the GPs were better I think the series is great. I think it's better at finding the world champion also takes the GPs around the speedway world a bit. Am I in the majority or not? For whatForbnmbf
  16. Yeah I watched most of mine via the website last year here in FInland, it's ok really, not HD as said but no big deal
  17. If I still lived in the UK I wouldn't be cancelling. It's annoying for sure but I like football, F1, NFL, cricket, rugby union and darts to name a few things I would be watching. I wouldn't have ever paid the £20 or so a month it was just for one sport I don't think. With the GPs gone it's a shame but I'm also a fan of UK ice hockey and Sky flirted with that before choosing not to air it, it didn't make me want to ditch Sky though. I love the Speedway GPs but unfortunately it's just not a huge viewer winner.
  18. Here's hoping they end up on TV somewhere, IMO SKY Sports would probably be best as they'll get to more people than ESPN and Premier Sports. Obviously BBC and ITV would get to more but that is quite simply not going to happen
  19. I think Holder, Pedersen and Lindback could battle it out this year. It's pretty impossible to predict though, there's nothing ruling out Gollob returning to form and Greg is extremely consistent for the most part so may well win his title back. I'd like to see Tai do well but he's certainly up against it.
  20. I saw someone said available as PPV on the official website, I thought last year they showed the GPs for free? Or was it location based? I'm in Finland so it was most useful for me!
  21. Hopefully something gets sorted, Sky won't make any statement if it doesn't though, as has been said it's now just one of many sports they don't cover
  22. I'll be very disappointed if the GPs are gone, I love the GPs. Still, where I am I usually have to watch it via the GP site anyway
