Awful season that started at Ipswich losing Neath and has got steadly worse. Lows - loss of Neath and Bowen through career threatening injuries. Retirements from Frampton and Hawkins - whats that all about?? No show from Nelson and the gall of the management to keep trotting out garbage about the "incorrect "form filling is just unbelievable. Yes some bad luck but also some strange stuff going on behind the scenes. What could give us hope for the future - sign Robert Lambert !

The decline started last season when Len had the opportunity to retain Jason Doyle and went for Boxall - big mistake. I will go and watch any team with Jason and Ben Barker in it - the Rye V Plymouth match the best seen at RH for many years.
-
Best wait a few years until Robert Lambert is ready as I dont see any of GB's current riders being on the pace for the GP. Nonsence I agree but until the UK establishes a full junior racing programme we might as well settle for finding the occasional gem (ala'Robert) Even league racing is in decline with UK riders disappearing from our teams. My team Rye House have half the team made up of non UK riders now.

Mid season retirements from 2 respectable riders (Rusty Harrison the other). Very unusual for this to happen - is it the economics of Speedway taking its tole?

World Cup Race Off 12 July
Glenn replied to Vincent Vega's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
How is it Australia have the finance to run a team in the World cup? Team GB would be lost without Woffinden and where are the next generation to come from? We will need to rely on defectors like Woffi to compete i reckon. This season is going to be financially ruining for some tracks with a poor summer - can they look to home grown riders now to drastically reduce costs. -
Who was the lad who went around on his own looked about 15 but could handle the bike ok?
-
Ben Morley has impressed me this year but he doesnt seem to get much track time at Rye. A few years ago most of the Raiders would get rides after the main meeting. Now its the juniors and kids - nothing against this but track time is so important to the National guys.

It will be interesting to see who gets Robert Lamberts signature when he turns 15. He would be a big attraction and expensive!!

Rye House Vs Isle Of Wight (nlkoc) 9/4
Glenn replied to Islander15's topic in National League Speedway
Oh dear a rut at Rye - is that down to the drought? Reading other links to the NL and the attendences etc - if Robert Lambert was allowed to ride I sure he would put a few hundred more on the gate. What a talent - I think he did the fastest time in the demo 58 something . Is he only 14? -

Enjoyable meeting - impressed with Morley Hazeldene and Sarjeant. Magic cosistent white line riding - didnt think there was a rut more like too much grip which caused the riders to lose control. Chessell should havr eased off whenn in the lead instead of trying to blast into the bend - he simply slid off !. Braddock id raw and has good style and speed - just needs rides to get more experience -

To get close meetings is to have an understrenghth home team. Mind Newport used to try that and the supporters left in droves! As Shadders says Rye is technical as opposed to open the throttle etc. I`m sure Mark Owen will benefit from time spent at Rye. -
Has Steve Boxall been fixed up yet?????
-
Is Bunyan going to be better than Boxall ? Is Garrity going to out score Brundle? All the others will ride to their current average or maybe worse. Maybe Nelson will push on and become an 8pointer but thats asking a lot Heats 13 and 15 will be a stuggle again.

Speedway World Cup Team Line Ups
Glenn replied to Ben Alderton's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Didnt Rob Lyon get The Russian kid's Tuner on board to do the GB engines last year - Ashley? The contrast between this year and last was noticable (agreed Richardson was missing) BSPA wont give Lyon the backing so they go back to the fall guy Middleditch, why does he alwaysagree to do the job when the BSPA come calling. -
Of course BUT it could have been a win as Nelson was having an excellent meeting. Neath can ride Berwick but this will look bad to some and another thing to dig at the promotion. Didnt Jordan get injured at Berwick last year as well?
-
I was being ironic Shadders!
-
Where is Neath
-
Well one visit in 30 years your absence will not be missed
-
Nonsence I'm afraid - Evans Mason and Hopwood have riden all types of tracks. Ben morley has mostly ridden Rye but has adapted to all types of tracks. As for Kennett - Coventry is grippy as hell and he dont have troubler there Rob Mear aint too bad either - Steve Boxall also. I think you are doing Mildenhall a disservice for yesterdays performance as some of the Awks are living on past achievements.
-
I dont think so! stick to the kids
-
Nice too that I didnt take half the track home with me. Natural watering seems to work best at Rye as it is way too dry and dusty for the majority meetings - especially the 2pm verieties.

Scunthorpe Saints V ...rye Cobras Sun 4th July
Glenn replied to waco's topic in National League Speedway
A few seasons ago Rye use an Aussie called Dakota North - now I dont remember people getting upset about that - he didnt score 17 on his debut though -
I recall seeing another 15 year old at Sittingbourne some years ago and saying then that he couls have a serious future in British and world Speedway but made reservations about certain things in his attitide and future guidence - even then. That was Lewis Bridger - Marc Owen appears to be a completely different person and providing he is given sound guidence he has the whole speedway world ahead of him. Talent on a bike is one thing but what goes on between the ears will always be pivotal to how a rider progresses - and money of course !
