  1. Well for example mildenhall could ride as Norwich rye as hackney Peterborough as Milton Keynes Eastbourne as Weymouth and maybe Kent as Canterbury. Maybe even lakeside as Romford. You could use any NL rider with an average of 6.5 or below and the best of the trainees at your lower end. So the jack kingstons of this world will be heat leaders and have the responsibility of looking after the still rawer recruits. The trainees will benefit from riding against their betters. The NL riders will benefit from confidence and track time. The defunct teams may gain publicity and profile which might rekindle interests in reforming. The fans get cheap off season speedway a team to cheer and see the stars of tomorrow getting better. The promoters get new stars a cheap to run meeting and a continuity of supporters all year round.
  2. I would like to see a winter league of NL and trainee riders formed into teams of defunct tracks. Localise it to keep costs down and to minimise the inconvenience of call offs. Speedway in the off season and watching the youngsters improving bit by bit. Perfect.
  3. And I assume he could have been fitted in if we had ben in for Luke?
  4. Still think letting Anders go is a big mistake. I can see him becoming a top rider this year.
  5. I understand IF we have kids of that sort of quality but surely we also have a duty to put out a competitive team when we travel away x
  6. And see no fans turn up. I agree blood kids but make it competitive at the top end.
  7. How come Jason Garrity is on the NL list?
  8. I'm not aware of exactly how the air fence will be fitted around the track but I wonder if it will have the effect of negating the infamous camber?
  9. I think a season barring serious injuries would be a start Bolly. A team designed very much to win at home and pick up some useful points away. A team that will also need the track to be prepared with plenty of grip as most are racers not gating tarts. Eddie - if he really wants to come back should achieve a nine plus. Any more than that and I would be pleasantly surprised. If he did nt really want to come back the season could be horrible. Nelson - a big year for the boy. Rated by almost every other track (have you noticed how many wish lists he appears in). For me between 7-8. Would nt be surprised to see him at that higher end. JB - A case in point about how the track is prepared. Can be horribly off pace when its slick and fantastically on it when theres dirt on it. Will be helped if some of the others pick up their averages so 6 plus for me. JG -Not too put pressure on this boy but he really has the ability to go all the way. IF this injury has nt knocked him back I really think he is looking at 8 plus. Was it ten he was averaging before his crash? Both Nelson and Jason will be helped if Eddie is a dominant number one. Luke - I am sure he will practise all winter to be sharp for the off. With the riders above him he could get to stay at reserve for a while which will be great for us at home. SL - Apart from carrying Eddie on such a high average Simon is for me the Achilles heel. Would have preferred Ben (assuming Robert Lambert is destined for elsewhere). At least Ben would score well at home. So overall im not too despondent now. Sorry forgot Stevie B. When this boy first came to Rye he had England international written all over him - possibly more. I still think he all the talent and knows the quickest way around Rye - as the times at the conference championship will testify. IF he has decent equipment then there is no ceiling to what he can achieve.
  10. You must feel very special Shadders. You ever thought about getting counselling for these S&M tendencies of yours. On reflection I quite like our team bar Lambert. As long as Luke gets in the grove early and Boxall has decent machinery I cant see us losing many if any at home. Things could get even better if Len got ruthless once Eddies average finds its true level.
  11. Shame it's not Robert rather than simon lambert.
  12. No Mellgren would be a horrible mistake. Would put Luke and Chris on a par with Mullarkey and garrad. All great Rye servants.
  13. No Mellgren would be a horrible mistake. Would put Luke and Chris on a par with Mullarkey and garrad. All great Rye servants.
  14. Honestly Ray I was being serious. I am talking about a junior sized track. Its extra races, a bit of variety, might attract young grass trackers to speedway, cheap as a time filler. Is it practical?
  15. For NL only how about a rule that any 3 point NL rider who came last in his last race(except for EF) can start 15 metres ahead of the rest of the field.
  16. Ray As a way of increasing the value for money element of speedway is it feasible to make a small grasstrack in the inside of a speedway track suitable for juniors such that after say every third speedway race you could hold two junior grasstrack races?
  17. On the team front I would have thought that JG AM and TN must please be nailed on. Would nt have been surprised to see Eddie K back if he came I at 8 ish. It would be dream time if Linus came back whatever average he was on. Assuming no big averaged number one would like to see Stevie B back and maybe Pontus. That would leave two to fill. If NL riders are required for EL then I can see Ben perhaps riding there and for Kent - Waco? I think Luke should head Kent - he will need some proper time back in the saddle before mixing it with the PL big boys.
  18. The EL is a shambles. Thank goodness Len did nt decide to go up.
  19. Shaders is very noticeable by his absence. Where are you sir? I can't help but think the whole EL thing is a spoof or rumour. I really can't see the controlling promoters there being brave enough to make the sort of changes that are required for Len to take the leap.
  20. But hopefully not Mr Vega. Sundstrom would be a brilliant addition to Garrity Nelson and Mellgren though.
  21. More likely eilat for some winter sunshine.
  22. I think I have a DVD somewhere of a meeting between Crayford and Rye House where there are fisticuffs between Steve Naylor and I think Kelvin Mullarkey. I'll try look it out.
  23. I suspect Kent might be a more likely destination .
