Who Will Make The Playoffs ?

Need to hope Peterborough finish ahead of Worky so that I can get to see it!! Peterborough are certainly not the team that busted our unbeaten record. -

Wouldn't fancy Ippo in our group so hope we can top the list at the cut-off and leave that hot potato for Somerset!! -
Rye House V Edinburgh (pl) 6/9/14 @ 7.00pm

No track grading at all during the meeting last night. Is this normal at Rye nowadays? Does it save money? Have to say in fairness though the track seemed to ride well all evening. Mostly gate & go but maybe Monarchs were just too sharp from the gate? Cookie was very fast. Untroubled all night - made it interesting in 1 heat by letting the Rye boys gate first then picking them off with nonchalant ease. Kennett wasn't. Pretty dire all night when I had expected him to score nearly a max. Sam Masters rode some great second bends. Max Fricke was steady but unspectacular apart from his pass on Kennett. Justin Sedgmen again steady and unspectacular. Deek did better than I expected. Still slow but kept to his lines and picked up a decent score though I think his slowness resulted in Bowen catching Aaron Fox on the last bend in heat 2. And Foxy rode very well - gated well and rode with aggression. Promising. Much better than Dilger!! Garrity showed some fight (the right kind this time!). Won his races comfortably when he gated though it kinda looked like Monarchs were happy to fill the next places rather than give chase. Bowen likewise showed some good spirit. Boxall?? Must be a nightmare having him in your team. How many did he score at Redcar? And then he produces this crap. Even Aaron Fox beat him comfortably. Barrett - what can I say? Absolute pants. Greenwood tried hard but he was so much better on my previous visit to Rye when he was with Peterborough. What a dismal place Rye is nowadays. Could hardly hear the PA on the first bend. No atmosphere at all. Crowd looked better than I expected but not great. Spirally downwards. -

Deek's big scores have been in the past for quite a while now. -

I too think Rye will win this unfortunately. Maybe we'll nick a point. Rye's reserves will murder ours. And with Stevie missing or second hand Rye's heat leader strength will be too much unless Boxall rides to his average rather than his ability. -

I don't dispute that Hall isn't as good as he was 8 years ago. My point is that he was averaging virtually 7 last season, albeit including bonus, and over 7 the year before. Even at the start of this season his average prior to the ban was just under 7. So, given he was coming to a track he had shown he could ride, the risk shouldn't have been that great. The fact that he is averaging under 3 for Peterborough is shocking. He's not someone I would have ever chosen to have in my team, but you can kinda see where the management were coming from in trying to stiffen up their home record. -

Big 4 points for Somerset if it gets to 15 heats. -

Looks like Rye are running into form now. Could they do the previously unthinkable and stuff the Monarchs? Looks like you'll certainly hammer us at reserve. -

In theory Hall should have been a reasonable signing - circa 6 point average and likely to score much better at home, so cutting the risk of home defeats. It just hasn't worked out that way, but no-one would have predicted how bad he has become. Dilger for Jacobs was always a dubious call though I've never been a fan of either of them. Should have brought Greenwood back when he was fit. The Fish should certainly be brought back next season, especially on his current average. And Blackbird too. Unlike most, I would also like to see Dryml back - just love his style!! -

Yes I should have made a comment about the lighting in my previous post. Two thirds of the way up the stand it was pretty grim. Too far from the circuit lighting and at the mercy of the guy behind who was between me and the 20w bulb. Never noticed it being bad before. -

I think it was Bing Crosby and Louis Armstrong that sung Gone Fishin'. -
Have you got Rye House at home yet to come? If so ...... And was I right about Sheffield away? Despite all the naysayers!! Anyway, I have always reckoned Ippo had a very strong well balanced team. Certainly the best balanced apart from Somerset. It was just a matter of time till they got their form back. And ignoring the demands to drop Heeps and Ellis and various others!! Unfortunately it looks like my Mighty Monarchs are going to have to meet you lot in the play-offs. I was really hoping to avoid that and let Somerset take the hit!!
