Preview For The Swedish 2009 Season.
schumi replied to Ghostwalker's topic in International World of Speedway
Dackarna have released their fixtures also. I'm putting them together here. And it looks like there will be some changes to the play-offs, with the top placed teams being able to chose who they meet from 4th-6th placed teams. -
I'm more interested in what your 10,000th post is going to be. Make it a good one and not another boring birthday request.

Well, went there today, and all there was were flats - nothing else. Thanks for the pics, grachan - the track is exactly as I remember it. And thanks to everyone else for the help.

Not yet, and if they do, Alden's contract becomes void. -
Last time I went past there was a huge bloody fence around it, and I’m not climbing it. I think there’s a pathway along by the river there though – does anyone know if it leads to the track?
-
I’m going to be in Canterbury soon, and wanted to go and see if I can remember where the old track was. If I’m right I think there’s now a coach park on the site? But can you still get up to the track from the road without trespassing?

Preview For The Swedish 2009 Season.

The trouble with that is, the clubs are agreeing in principle on what a fair price is for the riders and saying that's the top whack they'll pay, but then going back on it and changing that to suit themselves. Which is why we see Lejonen with Nicki P and Leigh Adams, and clubs like Indianerna, Smederna, etc struggling. The riders obviously want to go where the money is, and all the time they can, they will. There have been various proposals about wage caps, or money being based on the riders' averages, but they have the same problems as us in trying to get everyone to agree. Don't you read my posts any more? Us invisibles have to stick together, you know. -

Smederna have been in talks with Tomasz Gollob. That must be a pretty expensive way of living within their budget. IF (and it's a big "if") he signs, it would mean Jagus is on his way. But, of course, there are now riders available from Hammarby looking for places. -
Next year's GP qualifier final is here, at Coventry.
-
So what's Scott going to do next year? Will he stay with the team he dumped on, and who dumped on him in Sweden? And Rzeszow, in Poland, have been relegated. Uncertain times ahead for the global superstar.

Can Nicki Get 6?
schumi replied to home straight's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I'm not trying to compare anything - I was stating a fact. And that fact is that Nicki has been WC three times, and Hans has four. You can argue who was the better rider all you like, and the merits of each system, but you won’t change the figures. And Nicki’s average in Denmark is 11.35. I suspect it’s higher in Russia. I know what your counter-argument will be, but you simply said to come back when his league average is that high – you didn’t stipulate where, or over how any meetings. See, I can be as argumentative as you. -

I'm only counting individual world championships - but you knew that. -
Nicholls' average in the Elite League has gone down this year. In 2007 his final GSA was 9.52, yet in spite of a weakened league in 2008 his GSA is only 8.92.
-
That'll be why he won in Krsko and Copenhagen this season? Still, better to be a "one track pony" than a "none track pony" like Nicholls.
-
Okay, as the thread originator, I'll ask another question: should Scott perhaps have tried to get into the series through the qualifiers?
-
Dischuffed. I like it.

Ah the first bite. You’ll have to do better than that to upset me.
-
ANY other snippets of information? Could be a long thread.

Wild Cards For 09
schumi replied to beesbarmyarmy's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
After Emil beat him to the U21 title Holder said he was going to try to make it into the GPs, as he's no longer eligible for the U21s. -
It's all ifs and buts. If Iversen wasn't injured he'd have qualified, if Sullivan had finished the night as he started at Zielona Gora, he'd be back in, if Holder hadn't had a nightmare qualifying round, if Watt had made it to his round instead of being stuck at the airport, if Hampel wasn't a Pole, etc... As for the Lindgren factor, I'd rather have Jonas Davidsson.
-
Nicki probably didn't want to take Gollob's charity. He knew he shouldn't have been in that race and didn't care. Can you tell I'm a fan?

His "grit tonight" is exactly what stopped him making the top 8.
