  1. There was plenty of grading, but it didn't seem to help with the problems on the first two turns, nor did it improve the racing (not that there was any racing, as such, to improve on). One genuine overtake all night (lap 2 heat 15), tells its own story. That was my 4th (I think) visit to Ipswich. I've seen good racing on it in the past (including the one when it threw it down and they had to put sawdust down, for a KOC Final in October 2012), but last night was poor.
  2. It says "the sport," so presumably completely.
  3. Parkinson-Blackburn to take time out of the sport: https://twitter.com/TigersSpeedway/status/870666094742302720

  5. I would guess there was about 8-900 at Ipswich last night (vs Newcastle). Hard to tell from where I was (in the Grandstand on the backstraight) how many were sitting in said stand. Why is it called a "stand" when you sit down in it? I've never worked that one out!
  6. Or have a 600 mile round trip to watch either! 22. 23 in September
  7. Connor and Kelsey out, Jake Knight and Alex Spooner in... https://twitter.com/speedwaystarmag/status/870196813017612288
  8. According to the Gems' Facebook page it was carb problems. *edited after I checked on the Facebook page!
  9. So, in the 50 races he's had this season, you reckon he's fallen 45 times? Maths not your strong subject, then? Anyway, driving down for this one (although, I have to admit, not particularly looking forward to the drive back!). Just seen on the Ipswich website that the referee is Barbara Horley (who should have reffed the Scunthorpe vs Newcastle match on Monday!).
  10. Yes. It even got a mention in a Sunday's Race Day Magazine!
  11. I was on the centre green that night (in the days when I was Dalbers' "runner" going between centre green and pits when either side were operating R/R) and I remember Jesper's wife Carol coming across and just saying with some acceptance (for the want of a better word) "What's he done now?"!!!
  12. Heat winning times: Ht 1 70.0 Ht 2 78.2 Ht 3 75.6 Ht 4 76.2 Ht 5 71.8 Ht 6 77.0
  13. The worst Newcastle team (result wise) I've watched was the 2004 team. Not helped by the fact we weren't allowed to sign Matej Ferjan (his average deemed too high) at the start of the season, we brought in Mario Jirout and also didn't sign Kenny Olsson, but signed Scott Smith (the Aussie one) instead. The Premier Trophy was a disaster (14 matches 1 win 13 defeats. The win a 49--47 home win against Workington). The League campaign was later boosted by the signing of Jason Lyons, but the final table had us bottom after 28 matches, after we'd won 8 and lost 20. Riders used: Jason LYONS, Richard JUUL, Kristian LUND (who made way for Lyons), Kevin LITTLE, Lee DICKEN, Lee SMETHILLS, Jamie ROBERTSON, William LAWSON, Scott SMITH (Aus), Lubos TOMICEK, Carl DOWNS (1 match), Danny HUGHES (4 matches), Mario JIROUT (axed after scoring 13+5 in 5 matches), David MELDRUM, (4 matches), Jesper OLSEN (came back in August and rode in 4 matches, but injury against Glasgow ended not only his season, but his career) and Mike PICKERING (1 match).
  14. Where in my post do I use the word accurately? I don't. I said roughly....
  15. 1986. Won 0 home, 2 away (at Reading 40-38 and Swindon 42-36), according to the "Complete History of the British League. In the League Cup they won 2 and drew 2 at home, but lost all 10 away.
  16. So, again, the icon to back up your non-existent argument, choosing to totally ignore the and icons I posted, to show that it was a tongue in cheek comment and therefore not to be taken seriously. Well done. I have given (rough) figures to the attendances of matches I've attended. By the end of the week (weather permitting) that figure of 12 matches attended will become 15. I will update on the approximate attendances at Scunthorpe and Ipswich after I've been, to, hopefully, help the thread. Something, unfortunately (and yes, I mean that in sincerity), you are unable to do.
  17. Mainly because I didn't see it. And to resort to the icon towards me is hardly going to help your argument. I've attended 12 matches this season and maybe, just maybe there was 1,000 at just the one of them (but I doubt there was 1,000 there, I say more like 800). Otherwise they range from about 350 to about 600 in the other 11. That's in the SGB Championship. Granted that was the week I was there and don't know what the attendance was like the week before or after, except in the 6 home matches I've attended, but it gives you a rough idea of attendances in that league. All I'm saying is to know (roughly) how many are attending, is to be there (you might not be able to tell on the TV due to camera angles etc.) and do a rough head count yourself.
  18. Not to worry. Workington's James Sarjeant's +5% average (for home guests), is lower than his GSA, according to issue 12 and 13 (GSA 5.66. +5% = 5.38!)!!
