Workington Speedway suspended for seven days
StevePark replied to WookieboyDon's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
If it is financial (I'm NOT saying it is) then surely it's best for BSPL/Workington Speedway to come out and say it, then people might be able to help financially to clear the problems?? Once again speedway doesn't help itself with all this "cloak and daggers" type of announcements. Whatever the problem(s?) is/are, I hope it can be sorted and I will still get my visit to Northside in the future. -

Workington v Plymouth 21/06/25 3 pm Championship.

That would be an NDL 2.00 rider, then. Unless they've changed the rules, if you sack a rider you can't use guests of similar ability (unless the sacked rider is also a 2.00 rider in the NDL of course!), you can only do that if the rider is "withholding his services". -

Workington v Poole 07/06/25 3pm Championship .

Taken off Facebook: Vuolas Racing RESULT | Today in Zarnovica the meeting got off to a rough start. In the third heat, I went down in the first corner and another rider landed on top of me. I hurt my ankle — but it looks like nothing’s broken. -
Plymouth vs Redcar. - 7/06/25
StevePark replied to Doners123's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Explanation from Team Manager Gavin Parr on Redcar's Facebook page: We tried everything and everybody today to get a guest after Erik informed us this morning that due to his Landshut meeting being called off he was now required at GP qualifying practise along with Jake. No flights from anywhere on Sunday morning could get him to the event on time unfortunately so we have been left in a very difficult position. Personally I can only apologise and promise you all we will still do everything possible to come away with the league points. -

OFF. Waterlogged track (called off at start time - 7pm) -
It is what it is, unfortunately, but I would suggest that whoever complied the fixture for today, when it was possible riders would be riding abroad, are partly responsible. However, they couldn't also see the riders getting injured (obviously), so a "double whammy". But, with all the blank dates in the calendar, you would think common sense would prevail and they would postpone it until later, but as you are probably well aware, common sense and speedway rarely goes together!!

Glasgow Tigers Vs Poole Pirates 6/6/25

I, stupidly, thought (wrongly!!!) R/R was at #2, rather that the #3 that they've gone with!!! -
Sorry, but it sounds like I'm "having a go" at you today (I'm not, just a difference of opinion!!!), but I thought the NDL rule was a rider who has achieved a CL average over 4.00 could not ride in the NDL, which would rule Starkey out??

How's it a waste? It should (virtually) guarantee 3pts so at worse a 3-3 and if the Glasgow reserve can beat the oppo reserve it should be a 4-2, rather that a "weaker" rider as R/R and potentially losing the heat? (IMO). -
Race nights (prob don't want to race Monday/Thursday)? No local league derbies (nearest opposition Belle Vue, hardly "local")? Happy where they are? Could be a host of reasons. They still have to build a team to whatever the points limit is, no matter what league they are in and it's getting the right riders in, not just the "superstars". Just 'cos they (allegedly) have the cash to throw at it, doesn't mean to say they have to be in the "top" league, racing against teams nowhere near (location wise) costing the fans an absolute fortune to travel away to the same tracks twice. Also they would (probably) increase the admission for home meetings, to see, near enough, the same riders they are seeing now. I think I'd be trusting the promotion on knowing what they are doing, on and off track.

I trust it's not David....... (one for the teenagers!!)!!
