Actually, you had the choice of just about anyone in the top league too. Cookie has an average of 11.01 (so 11.56 with the 5% added). You had Hans Andersen lined up, but he got injured and one or two other riders are rumoured to have turned the offer down. Max Clegg, identical start to Ricky Wells (heat 1 which wasn't pulled back) in heat 12 when Willie Lawson fell bend 1/2 totally untouched, but Max "moved" (according to Darren H), so re-run (3-3 became 5-1). Just my opinion, of course, but even some Edinburgh fans near us (on the grassy knoll as I like to call it on bend 3) questioned the heat 4 decision.
