Referees decisions
Leg Trailer replied to Star Lady's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Graham Brodie took some beating if you ask me. Has he retired now? Anyone remember David Hughes? That guy sucked big time! Remember when Shane Parker got excluded by Wotsisname Bates? "Master Bates!" said Shane as he slammed down the phone! Excellent! Tony Steele used top be the starting marshal at my local track when I was a kidster. Not alot of people know that........ -
Referees decisions
Leg Trailer replied to Star Lady's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Precisely what I've been getting slagged off on this board for since the day I registered! Granted, it's taken people time to agree with me but finally you lot are waking up and realising that Pedersen is a total liability. Sam Ermolenko summed it up well "he showed no respect for a fellow rider. You can move someone over but you don't have to try and KILL someone". I thought Sam maintained his composure very well considering the fact he just witnessed some lunatic attempting to kill one of his best mates. Some sort of ban is in order for a rider who shows no respect on the track and who appears dangerous more often than not. The Vinnie Jones of speedway will end up doing someone a serious injury (if he hasn't already!) and should be punished like a footballer would be...... coupla red cards and a match ban, that sorta thing yanno? But what hope is there when the referee is watching another meeting all together? That guy needs a sit down with the FIM board and a thorough assessment. But alas, the sense of satisfaction I got from seeing Greg Hancock sock it to Pedersen in the re-run made my bloody night! That is what I call JUSTICE! Nice one Greg, a total gent showed a total punk the way to ride a bike hard but fair. Something Pedersen has no idea about. -
Predictions for Swedish Grand Prix?.
Leg Trailer replied to MAD 3:16's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Looking forward to this meeting. I reckon Adams will do well tonight and Tony must be a safe bet on his home turf. Anyone got the latest offerings from William Hill? Hands up who's looking forward to seeing Sophie in the pits? I think we should start up a fund for her to do a turn at the end of the season and pop her norks out and...... errr...... sorry. -
How many gears do the ice racing bikes have? Is it still one or two? LT.
-
I am not a Pedersen fan. Search my previous posts on the matter. I think Pedersen is dangerous and will one day do someone some serious harm. Look it up. I think him being crowned world champ will give him the impetus he needs to go ahead and think he's God on a bike. There will be injuries as a result. Mark my words.

Nicki P - World Champion 2003
Leg Trailer replied to Shortcrust's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
No contention whatsoever and I'm a Crump fan. He took Holta's leg and had to go. Now, if the TV producer hadn't shown THAT angle???? Who's to say!!!! That'll remain one of those great speedway "what if's" just like Kenny Carter at the LA Collosium back in 1982. Poor Crumpy - the Cinderella, the Kenny Carter, the Dave Jessop of our times! :-( :-( -
Stevehone, Who cares?! The championship was won!
-
I don't think anyone can dispute the fact Crump took Holta off and therefore had to go. The fact Pedersen got lucky doesn't come into it. It would have been futile decision from the ref to exclude Pedersen in the final and the wrong one. I hate it when refs realise they've made a bad decision and try to undo it by punishing the opposition in some way. The ref was fair tonight in what were very taxing circumstances..... AND I wanted Crump to win! PS: As for Jacobs admission that Pedersen shut off: how would the ref know this? If the ref knew this then YES he should've excluded Pedersen but would it have made any difference at that stage? No.

Nicki P - World Champion 2003
Leg Trailer replied to Shortcrust's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I knew it! I said Jason would screw up and Nikki would win and look what happened! I should charge a fee for my predictions. Jason will win once he manages to control his artistic style teprement. But congratulations to Nikki. Speedways all about what the other rider does as well as yourself and you certainly have the balls to be an exciting world champion. The way he never shut off in the earlier heat against Crump when his bike was out of control was unbelievable. The man is one helluva gutsy rider, some might say reckless, but it would appear that is what's needed these days to become world champ. Let's hope Crump doesn't go the same way Kenny Carter did back in the 80's. -
Jason or Nicki?
Leg Trailer replied to London Witch's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Pedersen as speedway ambasador: Appears juvenile, erratic and unpredicatable on the track. Has a bubbly personality and that lovable 'something' about him. Crump as speedway ambasador: Born leader, well balanced and stands up for himself and others. Calm in front of the camera and does not appear juvenile. Is prone to come across as stand offish and moody as a result of his artistic temprement. Take your pick ladies and gents. Hans Nielsen they ain't........ -
I think they should have two GP's in the major countries like England, Denmark and Poland. Places like Slovenia and Czech are a little short on proper experience to run a prestigious meeting such as this. We saw how Sweden managed to get it wrong track wise but what about when countries have inadequate medical facilities. Reading what Lucas Dryml's father had to say about the way his sons accident was handled during the Slovenian GP made me wince.

Olsen Must Go
Leg Trailer replied to Meth Head's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Now I'm the last person to defend Olsen as I think the guy is so far up his own ass he'd need a spade to dig himself out again but one thing I have noticed is that people moan about Olsen being too much of a busy body. He pokes his nose into everything and tries to be "the man", right? Now, when something goes wrong we all shout out that Olsen neglected his duties and should be hung. Can anyone else spot the inconsistancy here? Personally, I think BSI are getting an easy ride critisim-wise here but I stand to be corrected as I'm not 100% sure of their involvement. I do know that the Postlethwaite chappie seems very personable so therefore will receive less critisism than Olsen who let's face it, asks for it with his attitude. BSI promote the sport - is this right? Well last night was a farce so therefore as promotors they should not be entierly blameless surely? I'm asking questions here, not making accusations so please don't misqoute me as so many here often do.... You can assess this situation on two levels and ask who is to blame for the two points: 1) The unrideable track and who was to blame. 2) The way in which the abandoment was handled and who is to blame. Personally I think everyone involved could've made an effort to make the handling of that situation better than they did but we were all caught with our knickers down weren't we! -

Will Sky Show Grand Prix next week.
Leg Trailer replied to drakey's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The way this thread has degenerated is so ironic given the subject matter (the incompetence of the GP crew) that it's almost funny. Personally I wouldn't worry too much. Wimbledon, test match cricket, F1 GP's and on the odd occasion football matches have been abandoned live on TV and the sport has not suffered. It's just one of those things that can happen with sport. Sadly, the way in which the decision to abandon was handled was a cringe making moment in the history of televised speedway. It smacked of amatuerism at it's peak! Incompetence by the management (ie; Olsen) and the riders being filmed laughing and treating the occasion with almost no seriousness untill it was abandoned and they were told to go out on the centre green to apologise was well...... I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me. Could you imagine Giggs, Beckham or Ginola walking out in front of all the fans to explain that the match was off because ground staff had messed the playing surface up? Of course not. This is the kick up the butt the GP team needed and this should never happen again and if it does then it should be handled 100% better than it was last night. The TV, press and spectators were all left in the dark about what was happening. It was completely and utterly amatuerish in the extreme and harked back to the bad ole days of the early 1990's. I half expected them to wheel out Rusty Lee or Edwin Starr...... Fire Olsen, allow the BSI chap more influence and have plans in place to handle adverse and unexpected moments like last night so that in future it looks more professional. I wonder how much moneys was wasted last night? How will the re-imbursments affect BSI? Air fares, hotel accomodation..... just scraping the surface. I travelled for 2 hours to get to a TV to watch last nights meeting. What a waste of time. To clear up confusion here - I am not criticising the reasons for the abandonment last night but the way in which it was handled. Sure, the surface should have been fit to ride but alas, mistakes happen but to keep everyone hanging on for well over 30 minutes was unprofessional and to be frank, extremely foolish. TV companies are very money conscious you know! The press are just waiting for a chance to jump on the sport and laugh at it and last night gave them every opportunity. I only hope they can make up for last night because the most recent meetings I've seen on Sky have made me think how long wil the coverage continue. Lastly, I see Eastbourne are on again tomorrow! -
The boys done us proud!!!
Leg Trailer replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I've got a funny feeling in me waters about this one tonight. I think we're gonna win it. The bikes will be set up for gating and Pedersen will not be able get up to his usual havoc inducing antics as he'll not be able to get near. Norris will cry as he lifts the cup, Nicholls will be hailed the new Peter Collins, Havvy will rediscover his youthful exuberance of old and I'll get completely mashed and wake up feeling like crap again. Ace. Leggy. -

Fantastic stuff! Made us all feel proud they did. Sadly, I can't really comment on much of the meeting as I got completely spannered celebrating afterwards. Should be interesting to see who Nikki Pedersen tries to kill on Saturday. Me? Winding things up? Shurly shum mishtake! Leggy. -

Not many public houses sprout wings and travel around the world everyday but if you see one that does then let me know cuz I'll be there honey. I never said you were uneducated but if that's what you want to think then go right ahead. I was refering to the fact that bar staff don't travel abroad for a living everyday and see these things EVERYDAY. For your info I've worked in bars myself in the past on MANY occasions so nurr nurr! Leggy. -
I think the sport is on the right tracks at the moment. Things are getting better and I know it's tough not to get impatient but they should continue in the same vain as far as I can see. Sky don't look like dropping the sport, although I would like to know what the deal is with Eastbourne, is it cuz their race night is a Monday? If the BSPA could entice the tabloids back into covering the sport I think that would make heaps of difference. Back in the 70's and 80's the Daily Mirror was a BIG BIG BIG sponsor of speedway and it is no coincidence that the sport lost alot of fans when they stopped sponsoring it. I heard that there were some tabloid journo's at Wimbledon for the U21's ..... that's encouraging. With the Brit GP getting bigger each year I think speedway is in the best position it has ever been in. I too recall the dark days of the early 90's when tracks were closing and TV coverage was nowhere. I would imagine that should Sky ever wish to give up their rights to covering the sport ITV or the BBC would jump at the chance to fill the short fall, if only on a regional level to start with. The image of the sport has changed considerably since the early 90's. I was at the FTT in Peterborough one year when the BSPA announced a new drive to improve the sports image. They had Rusty Lee as a "celebrity guest" walking around acting all happy. I nearly died from cringing. Now, compare that to the fast, cool and slick image of the GP's. No contest and no worry that the image is once again back up there. Leggy.

It can be very tedious to sit and type out justifications for this that and the other on every occasion just in case someone like yourself takes what I've written and runs another 100 yards with it. You obviously read far more into my original post than I intended you to read and as a result we are verging on a discussion/argument on the mintuae of "transisioning economies". My personal feelings are that some posters on this bulletin board have read me wrong on more than one topic already since I joined and as a result I feel slightly alienated. My posts are now more likely be jumped on and disputed for their minutae rather than the face value I intend but hey, ce la vie. Being misunderstood is one of the failings of internet bulletin boards as a tool of mature discussion so rest assured my tongue will remain thoroughly instered in cheek from now on hence the Dick Dastardly signature. 8) Regards, LT. PS: I suggest you re-read the Sudan part of my post and then you'll see that I was infering that the trend will lead to a GP in Sudan as a far fetched conclusion! A joke if you like but I guess some posters GSOH has gone astray somewhere. Only someone who wanted to believe I was comparing Sudan to Slovenia would post what you posted. Stop trying to be bitchy for the sake of giving your lard an airing. It's tiresome. -

For Gods sakes! What is wrong with some of the people on this website??!! No it's not. It's a condemnation of the medical facilities in a lot of poorer nations. Fact. Not my fault pal. They might be professional but the tools of their trade are lacking in many cases. Fact. I was not demeaning it's people. I was pointing out that the MEDICAL FACILITIES in SOME of these countries is lacking. My comments are based on the fact as a pilot I fly into these countries on a regular basis and have witnessed first hand the way in which vital services are in desperate need of more money. Of course, you working as a bar manager must visit these places far more often than I so I bow down to your superior knowledge. Ball's in your court. LT. PS: From tomorrow afternoon I'll be away for 2 weeks and unable to reply due to the fact I'll be in one of the poorer foreign countries. PPS: Have you worked in Sudan? I never mentioned India, Nigeria, Mauritius did I?
