Redcar V Scunthorpe, 8/8/13
Al Stewart replied to RedcarRacer's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Quite agree with your points. But if 1 person represents only .01% of the Scunny support then there must be 10,000 Scunthorpe fans. Lucky Rob Godfrey! -
Ipswich V Edinburgh 25/7/13
Al Stewart replied to Ipswich Jules's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Big rivals with short fuses and itchy twitter fingers. Not clever. Incredibly frustrating for Cook to become the first rider who seems to have made Barker look the innocent party, after dozens of previous incidents with other riders in which he didn't! -

I was told by an eye witness that Barker pushed him as they returned to the pits. I didn't say the reaction was reasonable. -

I understand it definitely wasn't unprovoked. That doesn't make it right of course but it wasn't just done out of the blue for no reason. -

Thanks for this fair comment. It's nice to hear a balanced view. I think it is a great pity that the match was spoilt and I'm quite surprised that the referee was so sure that one of the riders involved should be heavily punished and not the other. I hope Craig will learn not to get involved in these things. He is much brighter than his actions tonight might suggest but he'll have to prove that to those who don't know him. -

I doubt the top Russian riders would turn up even in Russia. -
Rye House V Edinburgh 13/7/13
Al Stewart replied to cityrebel's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Each time it was the rider's own fault really though Tabaka might have had a better chance of regaining control without the camber. -
Jonas Raun gained his 5.6 average in 2007 at Newcastle. I'm not sure what happened then but in speedwayresults.com he rode no meetings at all 2009-2011, then had 20 meetings in Denmark last season. This year he has had a few in Denmark, scoring quite well, and four in the UK. That makes me think you're comments are unfair. He hasn't had a chance. He didn't look all that bad to me last Sunday, his performance could be said to be consistent with a reasonable rider who hasn't had enough matches yet.

New Air Fence For Edinburgh
Al Stewart replied to ekimba's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Edinburgh haven't bought an air fence, like everyone else they have an air fence to buy. -
Edinburgh V Redcar (pl) 7/6/13 @7.30pm
Al Stewart replied to Mr Blobby's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I agree that the decision is a correct one, and don't begrudge Redcar the extra point. I don't think it is reasonable to say Edinburgh were cheating. All they needed to do was ask for r/r and they would have got it - it was a mistake. -
For how many more years can Adam Ellis ride as a reserve in the National League?

Glasgow V Edinburgh (7 July, Pl)
Al Stewart replied to Boobs's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
That must be about the most unpleasant post I've ever read. I'm all in favour of everyone being allowed to express their opinion, but within some sort of bounds of fairness. I think the test of whether a post is justifiable is: Would you say the same to the rider's face? If not, don't say it. -
Barrow Boy's Top 10 Riders
Al Stewart replied to barrow boy's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
This is a good thread and congratulations to Barrow Boy on his interesting lists. It doesn't even need a statistical justification, quite legitimate to do it on gut feel, but he does have a statistical backup for it anyway. -
Edinburgh V Ipswich (lc - Sf) 5/6/13 @ 7.30pm
Al Stewart replied to Mr Blobby's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
You Ipswich fans better be nice to Adam Ellis, I've seen some of the moaning on here! I said to him when I walked past him tonight that he could ride at Armadale every week. He said he'd love to! Any more moaning and I'm sure we could get him to put in a transfer request. it's not really fair to set up a rivalry between Ellis and Fricke. They are both great prospects. -
Glasgow Tigers V Ipswich Witches Pl 30/6/13 @3p.m.
Al Stewart replied to Paulco's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Poole won't have him on Friday, he is at Edinburgh. Unless there is some stupid new rule. -
Having looked at the rules now, I'm sure they were interpreted wrongly last night. Your comments are exactly right. I'm sure 17.2.5 is intended to be used when a rider has ONLY EL and PL averages from the previous season, ie doesn't yet have a current season's average. Of course that is not spelt out. 18.3.1 is clear cut and much more sensible. As it happens the outcome wasn't much affected but it needs to be clarified right away.

Edinburgh V Workington (pl) 21/6/13 @ 7.30pm
Al Stewart replied to Mr Blobby's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Jozsef will be on 5.29 for July. However he is expected back either next Friday or the Friday after. As always, injuries will play an important part in how things pan out especially towards the time of the Playoffs. -

What is this tripe? For a start, what is the word climatic doing in there? Other than that it isn't worth a response. No wonder the BSF has a rock-bottom reputation. -
Newcastle V Edinburgh (plkoc) 16/6/13 @ 6.30pm
Al Stewart replied to Mr Blobby's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I'm sending a video down to Steve Brock so you can have a look, or even buy one for yourselves. Most of the incidents will be shown from two camera angles. You'd have to retain a high level of bias to believe that Newcastle were hard done by. As well as the Pijper exclusion, Max Fricke should probably not have been excluded in heat 2 as his crash was caused by Lewis Kerr going too wide then swinging back across the track, causing Fricke to clip his wheel. Agreed Newcastle rode well enough to have won by more than 1 point, but it was not the ref's fault that they didn't. -

The rule now is that appearances for your own team don't count, the 8-day rule prevents appearing as a guest two weeks running. -

Sheffield V Berwick (pl) 6th June
Al Stewart replied to Shadders's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Really poor effort by Berwick. Hard to imagine how riders like Bellego and Smith can score so badly there, and Matthew Wethers usually went well there with Edinburgh. Good to see Sheffield ride themselves out of trouble though. -
Sheffield V Berwick (pl) 6th June
Al Stewart replied to Shadders's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I must admit I thought it was because of his allegedly negative views re the team that the announcer made his comments, I hadn't realised there was a weather report. Comments on here around the time made it sound as though it was his team assessment it was about. -

I'd like to think that the Sheffield announcer will apologise to Odsalboy this week for his disgraceful outburst last week.
