  1. Sandman seems to have gone very quiet all of a sudden! Surely you are not shy ! At least not the Sandman that I remember!
  2. Boycey may be 37 but by no means out of it, could prove useful at Poole too for the Aussies! Mind you, that would give me a problem, shouting for Team GB except when Boycey was racing!
  3. "IF YOU CAN MAKE IT!" Isn't it about time you graced up with your presence ?
  4. Give me a break! I have enough trouble every year looking after Rainbow (which I usually give up on an hour after arrival on the Friday!) You're on your own girl, whatever trouble you get yourself into is your problem, though no doubt I will end up getting the blame for it !
  5. I think Sam is a great choice! He has the character to help bring the place alive !
  6. Well I am a Brit Girl first and formost! But will then cheer on the Aussies and Tomasz and Piotr for follow up places or when Brits aren't in races!
  7. Just don't get me started on Hotels in Cardiff! Things may be very quiet from Shazzybird in the near future when I have finished ringing her neck! Still, we have various hotels booked now!
  8. Not many replies as yet! Come on you lot, get your fingers typing on something to help Great Britain for a change instead of all the threads slating Nicki Pedersen!
  9. It is very difficult to pick 10 riders and not miss a couple of good ones out! I would have put Chris Louis in mine and Stuart was another thought that I had but as I already had 10 riders that I feel can do a great job for Team GB I had to forgoe the others for now!
  10. It aint a laughing matter Shazzy Well! see you've returned in a good mood!!!!! NOT!
  11. Sorry, I should also say that I would love to put Chris Louis in the team too, but then again I need someone decent in Comentary!
  12. Well, with August looming up fast, lets try and help Middlo decide on his Team GB Squad, basing this on current form in both EL and PL, Squad of 10 riders: So here is my squad: Mark Loram Scott Nicholls Lee Richardson David Norris Joe Screen Gary Havelock Chris Neath Danny Bird Dean Barker Carl Stonehewer There were so many others I could have picked, but David Howe and Chris Harris seem to be struggling at present.
  13. I am gonna have my work cut out for me that weekend! What with Shaz and Rainbow for me to keep an eye on!!!
  14. I do not know of any website links for this but all the buses out there have maps and time tables in them and if you pick up a book on Copenhagen (at airport or hotel - usually free ones) these have maps inside which have all the bus routes and numbers etc on them! Hope this helps a little!
  15. The VSRA is an ideal opportunity to meet and chat with Ex-riders and believe me they really do have some stories to tell, Keith White and our very own Middlo had me crying at the things they used to get up to "on tour" in their wild youth days. The stories from years gone by are great! It seems that the older riders had much more fun in their days than the "more professional" riders of today!
  16. Well, I can tell you this is somewhere near The Little Mermaid which is not too far from Parken Stadium! I have now looked up the address of your hotel and you also can catch the No 1 or No 6 Bus which will take you straight up to Trianglen and then a two minute walk (at the most) to the stadium. On a higher note, you are right by Nyhavn which is a lovely little harbour full of Restaurants (mind you some are rather pricey!) Asto the weather, well last year it was glorious, but you never know like here in Britain! I really am gonna have to start charging for my information on Copenhagen!
  17. I would have found this a lot quicker if I hadn't spent 20 minutes scanning a map of bloody Stockholm !!!! For someone with light brown hair I do have some really blonde moments!! Anyway, found where you are on the map (in Copenhagen), you are just around the corner from The Tivoli, however to get to Parken from your hotel you will need to catch the number 1 or 6 bus from just along the road, this will take you straight to Trianglen where you walk round the corner to the stadium. Hope this helps again! I could take this up as a living!!!
  18. We are booked in at The Comfort Hotel, Osterport which is in walking distance of Parken. As for the price, I am not too sure as I booked via Expedia and got return flight plus 2 nights in hotel for £182.17 I learnt my leason last year when it was three bus rides away and a little walk to get to the stadium. It is always easier the following year when you know the area and have a map to show where places are !! Hope this helps!
  19. Can anyone tell me the hotels that are near to the stadium ? I am sure that one along the road was a Rakissons but my map of Stockholm from my last visit is not much use and I really don't want to have to walk too far or try and figure out their local transport again! Any help would be appreicated!
  20. Shaz!!!! Sorry but you haven't got the Butt for it ! Also, if we are going on butts, especially in the Team GB Kevlars then Floppy is a MUST and so is Leigh Lanham!!! I still think it is too early to decide on the Team, we have to see how they all fair over the next month or so, Joe may be back in the chase, Chris is certainly proving that he may deserve a chance at it. As for the youngsters, time will tell with them!
  21. Gary (that is so much easier than your other name!!) I understand fully what you are saying about the authorities! Although I do believe that Michael had his own self-destruct button I cannot help but feel that if he had some kind of help and guidence then things could have be somewhat better for him. He won the World Championship at such a young age and had no-one really to show him how to deal with it. The youngsters coming through today have their managers/mentors that will hopefully keep their feet somewhat on the ground if/when they become World Champions in the future. As I suggested earlier I was very much in the scene during the 80's, running a very popular rider's fan club and knowing so many of the other top riders around at that time, yet I was never once drawn into the Canabis Circle, it was just something that never interested me and over the years I saw how it affected so many of my friends, both riders and non-riders , in some way (and please don't everyone jump on me for this comment!) I was pleased it was just Canabis and that the majority of them had not gone on to the harder drugs. I am not saying here that I agree with any form of drug taking, just that Canabis seemed the lesser of so many evils!
  22. Wow! This is a very difficult subject to discuss, it seems that people are either for Michael or against him! I was at Wembley in 81 and couldn't believe the reception of the crowd! but as others here have said, people seem to follow their team members at Individual meetings rather than supporting the Brits so some things have never changed! I have known Michael since the early 80's, I became very close with him and Janet during their time at Poole and kept in touch after that. I was at the Court Hearing when Michael was sent to Prison for growing Canabis and wrote to him during his stay inside. We have kept in touch since his release and no matter what life has thrown at him (be it of his doing or otherwise) he has has been the same friendly kindhearted guy that I first met in 1982. People make so much of Michael having smoked Canabis during the 80's, well nearly every rider I knew back then was doing it (something I never really understood and still don't now, give me a B&H any day!) but there were plenty of others doing far heavier drugs, I remember one meeting we were travelling back to Poole with Michael and "a rider" had given my friend a couple of tablets as she had a headache due to being awake for nearly 48 hours (oh those were the days!!) when Michael saw them he threw them in with the rubbish and told her never to accept anything like that as it was speed and she would get hooked. That memory has always stayed with me, he cared enough to stop someone getting into other drugs! No matter what Michael has done in his past, he is still an Icon in British Speedway, even the youngsters starting out today are thrilled when he is running a training school and gives them advise. At GP's in recent years I saw so many riders ask Michael for advise regarding engine set-ups etc. That is the respect that he still earns today. We as supporters of the sport of speedway should always remember the good times and not dwell on the bad times and mistakes that riders have made, life is too short for that for any of us.
  23. In the 70's I travelled on the Poole Coach to many away meetings and to WC Qualifiers etc but during this time the only rider that I ever truly loved to watch was Billy Sanders, this continued until the weekend before he died, I travelled to Swindon just because he was riding there that night, I will never forget his smile as he waved goodbye to me !!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway during the 80's these were the riders I enjoyed watching: Shawn and Kelly Moran Michael Lee Kenny Carter Egon Muller (more long track for his style) Hans Nielsen (still love watching him now, even it he is just walking around!!! Phew...) Also in the late 80's there was Boycey, whom I still travel round to watch and support and this season I have to overcome my fear of boats to get over to IoW to watch him ride!!!!
