Is Jason Garrity fit to ride this weekend ? If not, Lions should maybe have had Brady Kurtz as a Guest themselves !? But suppose they could fit in Nick Morris or Sam Masters ( using the +5% rule ? ) Cheers

Leicester V Poole Sat 3/6/17

If Roo Boy has to pull out of the meeting not many other options for Poole other than to use Lewis Kerr maybe ? Bit of a headache for Matt Ford I guess ! Cheers -
Leicester V Poole Sat 3/6/17
Robbobee replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Still no mention of Lions team to face Poole on Sat night on their own website ?? Poole confirm team as .... K Nilsson, K Howarth, L Bjerre, D King, J Garrity, M Riss, D Ayres .... abut the best we could hope for I reckon ... not sure it will enough to beat Poole though ... Klindt at reserve is a potent weapon for them as can see him having 7 rides if needed. Cheers -

Hopefully Lions will book Mark Riss as guest for Bates ?? He seemed to go well the other week - if not ...... ?????? -
Leicester V Rye House 29.05.17
Robbobee replied to Barrow Boy 2's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Just got back from this afternoons match v Rye House Rockets. Firstly - great effort from the track staff to put the meeting on at all ... Secondly - can't help feeling this is one that got away for the Lions despite a reasonably strong effort from the Rockets ! 8 points up after 6 heats should be enough to see the home team to victory in most cases .... Two race no scores from Jason Garrity and another non show by the track specialist Lasse Bjerre cost the lions big time .... Oh Well - the only way is up when you're firmly at the bottom !! Cheers -
Current averages would suggest the Lions will have some points to play with when the new gsas come into force ? Woul it be possible to sign someone like ? Richie Worrall and replace an unfortunate Danny Ayres and be legal ( ie: 2 riders who have been NL in Bates and King ?? ) Lions will need to further strengthen if they are to stay in touch with the rest of the League I feel .... Cheers

Howabout Kacper Gomolski for Poole now he has been released by Leicester Lions ? ......
-
Wolves team far stronger than the Leicester Lions last night - 4 riders in Lindgren, Thorssell, Masters and Schlein - who would not look out of place as Number 1 in the Lions team ! Wolves rode the track far better than the Lions ( albeit, King despite practice and Garrity to a lesser extent have yet to call it 'home' ) Even when Lions gated, Wolves were far quicker and more determined to ride the fast wide line especially so in the latter part of the meeting. Very impressed with Mark Riss also - makes Wolves favourites for the title imo Lions? Will not make play-offs with this team but should avoid bottom place ( imo Somerset ) Need King to get going, consistency from Kim Nilsson and better performances from Lasse Bjerre if we are to do it though ... Cheers

Lions options re: Gomolski as I understand it ... 1. Retain the rider and cope with his absences re: SEC etc as best we can ... 2. Replace rider now with a rider up to 8.4 ish based on current GSA sheets ( who ? Wolbert ? ) 3. Replace rider after new GSA sheets issued with a rider c 8.00 Elite League average based on current projected GSAs ? ( again who ? ) From a loyalty perspective gotta be Option 1 If we are going to be ruthless in pursuit of a play-off spot gotta be 3 if there is such a rider to be signed and if I am right ? Cheers
-
This is bad news I feel but then if the rider wishes to pursue SEC stuff as opposed to BL Premiership then let him - we can replace with an 8 pt rider ? after the averages change I reckon given the cumulative gsas of the team so far .... just need to find such a rider ...... Cheers
-
-
Good move by the lions management as will definitely make the team stronger at home given lasse appears to be something of a track specialist at BP Cheers
-
Nothing wrong with 'doubling up' and two Leagues .... just need each League to operate on different race nights so as to minimise occasions when riders are unavailable .... Given that the UK tracks are seemingly unable to do that given rental / other agreements in place then we surely have to go down the route of 1 Senior League and fill gaps in the teams by using riders from the 'National League' if foreign riders are unable to be found. Cheers

Belle Vue V Leicester 21/4/17 7.30pm
Robbobee replied to stevethelion's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
If you'd have said Lions would gain an away league point before the match I'd have taken it! However, given that Belle Vue had Kenneth Bjerre out and that we had a track specialist in Michael Palm Toft in and also we were 6 points up with three heats to go - can't help feeling we managed to pluck defeat out of a certain win tonight ! Still, that's two away meets we have given a good account of ourselves ( Wolves and BV who are both strongly fancied ) long may it continue .... Cheers -
Leicester V Poole 8/4/17 Ela
Robbobee replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Not a good performance from the Lions last night but heyy ho - it was against Poole Pirate who let's face it have a team set up made to beat the Lions septet at present - ie: arguably the top two League Heat Leader 1&5 in the League, an ex Lion Heat Leader at reserve added to a brilliant display from Brady Kurtz - plus slick track, no Bates at reserve. Leicester always going to struggle in this one! Not the end of the world yet .... Cheers Come you Lions ! -
To be fair to Jim Lynch re: Danny King going in Heat 15 .... King had bike issues on the night culminating in bike failure in his third ride ? Then sorted out or on second bike ? Ran third in Ht 13 but did beat erstwhile unbeaten Kim Nilsson in that race so Lynch probably thought he was still the best partner for Nilsson in the last race ?.... seems to make some sense does it not ? As for Bates v Ayres in Heat 14 unless there was a reason Bates could not ride - seems a poor tactical decision not to replace despite Danny Ayres having a good first three rides.
-
OK Gutted we didn't take 3 points for the win when it looked like we could / perhaps should ... but heyy, hats off to the Lions showing they can be a force in this watered down ability wise Premiership League ... good to see Danny Ayres and Gomolski scoring points and excellent form from Kim Nilsson and Erik Riss not to mention Batesy - Danny King will have better days but he will come good as will Auty when racing at BP. Gutted we will be without Josh Bates and Riss in Sat v Poole - both will be sorely missed I feel ....
-
Good meeting for some of the Lions .... anybody know how Kacper Gomolski is after his fall in his 3rd race ? Good to win the first meeting in front of a good size crowd - need to sort out more than 2 turnstiles ! Lasse Bjerre and Batesy rode well as did Kim Nilsson and an impressive Erik Riss. Thought Klindt was a bit disappointing given his early season form and can't fault Danny Ayres for effort just be happier to see some points .... Next Sat v Poole ... Sheffield and Edinburgh both riding - does that mean no Batesy or Erik Riss? Maybe Gomolski if he's injured ? Probably find guests for two of them ok but finding a guest for Josh Bates will be tough I am sure! Anyway onwards and upwards as they say ! Come on you Lions!
-
Whoops ! My mistake about Batesy .... thanks for the info guys
-
OK - What exactly are the rules for guests / replacements this year .... assuming Danny King, Josh Auty and Josh Bates are absent this weekend ? Presumably we can deploy two guests and rider replacement albeit r/r in the team proper and not for a reserve ? Paddy Hougaard would be a good guest for Danny King .... Nicolai Klindt if it was for Josh Auty .... ??? for Josh Bates ..... Anybody know yet .... cheers - roll on Sat !
-
Any feedback from the 'meet the riders' meeting last night ?
-
No - common sense prevails I think ... 'ruthless' would have been ditching both Josh Auty and Erik Riss to be replaced by Kenneth Bjerre ( before Aces got him of course ) and Lewis Kerr. Kim Nilsson Lewis Kerr Kenneth Bjerre Kacper Gomolski Danny King Josh Bates Danny Ayres Now that would have been a good side ! Cheers
-
Just in terms of riders being replaced by others ... am I right in thinking that up until the first GSA changes ( ie : after 4 home and 4 away meetings ? ) any rider can be changed for another providing he has an average of not more than the rider being replaced or by bringing that rider in the team's total does not go beyond a total of 50.00? Following first set of GSA being released - team total not to be exceeded will be 42.00 ? If so I can see some riders being replaced very early on if they fail to 'hit the ground running' as they say ! Will be a race to sign the likes of Danny King and Josh Bates Cheers
-
Aces just need to add Danny King and Richie Worrall to the five riders they have now and they will have a decent side although a little light at reserve maybe ? C Cook 9.83 J Sedgmen 7.60 S Worrall 8.47 R Worrall 8.49 D King 9.57 D Bewley 4.00 J Smith 2.00 Total : 49.96 ??

Apologies if this is in the wrong Topic or has already been reported elsewhere but ... Does anyone have a blank new score card or list of details of rider nos in each heat for this season 2017 ? Or is it the same as last year? Cheers
