Poole v Leicester Prem A. 30/5/18
OldRacer replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
What you suggest is huge over engineering. You don't need the whole system to be completely water proof. You just need to redirect most of the water from the track to the infield. You have made up an incredibly complex solution and rightly pointed out it is impractical. That doesn't mean no system is practical. -
King's Lynn vs Leicester KO Cup 2nd leg 16-05-2018
OldRacer replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
He stood in for Danny King in the first leg and scored 4 against the same team different riders wearing the same race jackets. -
The rules differentiate between initial declaration and other declarations. One eight pointer only applies to initial declaration. I am sure the BSPA have a great reason for such logic in their rules... 18.5.1 A SGB Premiership Team’s initial Declaration must not exceed 42.50 and may include ONLY one rider with an MA of 8.00 or above. 18.5.2 An SGB Championship Teams initial Declaration must not exceed 42.50. A rider with a 2017 Premiership MA of 6.00 or above cannot participate in the Championship League unless they have a 2017 Championship MA, except where a rider has been previously eligible to compete in the Conference or National Development League and their MA fits for them to participate in both the Premiership and Championship. 18.5.3 It must not exceed 42.50 points in any declaration following the issue of established CMA’s for 2018, except where the MA of the introduced rider is equal to, or lower than the rider being replaced.

Ricky Wells guesting for Hans Andersen? -
One 8 pointer per team only applies to initial declaration.

Our best three riders include Lambert. Bewley might give Lambert a run around NSS, but Lambert is a better rider overall.
-
All of his excuses are still there, not magically fixed. I don't see why this year will be so different.
-
Only if he brings GP form, attitude and bikes!
-
He may have been at P&P, but was not in an official declared team. Kildemand was in the initial declaration.
-
Holder was never part of the declared team, was he?

Hey, Billy the Kid is still going strong over here!

Wolves V's Kings Lynn Stars. Mon 30-04-2018
OldRacer replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
As Daniel Smith noted, it is clear that it only applies to the initial declaration. If they removed the word initial, it would apply through the season. No need for further language provided that was their intention, although with the BSPA they usually change the rulebook first and only realize the consequences later. -
RR with Hans, KP, Newman and a reserve might replace King's typical output. Nilsson would be a great stand in if he fits and is willing.

Team Suits and/or Race Jackets
OldRacer replied to steve roberts's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Last season I took some friends who were new to the sport to a meeting at Auburn. They just looked at helmet colours and (mainly) race jacket numbers to identify riders. They weren't looking to learn which riders wore which suits. There is a staggering difference in professionalism between the two photos above. It is a great example. -

Some clubs choose to do it. None are forced one way or another. -
Somerset v Poole KO Cup Weds 2nd May 2018.
OldRacer replied to SteveLyric2's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The whole point of bringing in Woryna was his having a false starting average. He was supposed to add a couple of points, not noodle along at 4 point something. -
I think the expectations on King are too high. He's an adequate third heat leader and actually pretty consistent season to season. He's not going to make the jump to international standard or win many heat 15s, but can do a job.
-
Doyle's late career development is very rare and not a realistic comparison for any rider.

Kings Lynn V Poole 25/04/18
OldRacer replied to therefused's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
He's not the messiah, he's a very naughty boy. -
Does Kurtz come in as a reserve and bump Newman up to second string?
-
I agree with this. Replacing King seems very doable, especially with KP stepping up and showing he could be 3rd heatleader.
-
Agreed, but I don't think 7 from 5 rides at home will have the sponsors lining up. Yet.
-
He'll need to do rather better where it counts, in Poland.
-
If everyone coming off was inevitable when racing at full speed, then you've rather proved that the track wasn't fit for racing.
